➡I'm unsure if OEM stop pods are available, here is an aftermarket brand option if you need one: amzn.to/3SH4nBx Links here are most likely affiliate links, should you choose to purchase from one of them, I may earn a small commission for referring you to the seller. And, this is done at no extra cost to you!
Doing this job right now as I watch on an '85 California emissions 300D. I wasn't going to try this job without consulting TryThisTV first. This is a fantastic video. THANK YOU SO MUCH for keeping me from a possible runaway diesel problem!!!
Glad to help! A runaway diesel is a thought that has always scared me, and when doing my injector pump I came way too close for comfort, My engine survived and is still happily running, but it happened so fast there wasn't even time to react.
If the vacuum pod fails the manual stop lever under the hood will still work. If the stop pod is installed incorrectly, the stop lever will not stop the engine. You would have to hold the stop lever down and remove the stop pod from the idling engine if I've got things straight in my head. If the engine runs away because of a stuck rack or something else then the only way to stop it is by stopping the air supply by placing something over the turbo inlet directly (not your hand)

So will your manual shutoff work to shut car off if this is bad?
Also will manual shut off work if runaway diesel?
