That is me in winter of 2021. I thought oh i love that song from back in the day called Hate Me. Then I was just like, aw shit what the helll else did these guys do in last 15 years, they are just one hit wonders. How mistaken I was. yet, if you follow media or what radio (not that I listen to radio) tells you to like. Now have a list of 25 Blue October songs full of emotion and hooks I love and that list grows.

Blue october is my favorite band hands down. Every song they've ever done is 100% real. The early stuff is about his mental and substance struggles and can get very grunge and alt rock sounding and also very dark. In recent years his music has become more peaceful as he has gained peace in his life. Justin is very very much a live performer but the studio stuff isnt as contained as you might think but compared to live it can be.

I've heard this song hundreds of times, and I still get emotional hearing it. I get emotional hearing all his songs from this time period in his life. Hell, I get emotional hearing a large portion of the songs Justin has written, knowing his past, his present, and where he wants his future to be. From being stuck in depression and drug circles, he is now healthy and has a relationship with his daughter (Blue). I shed a tear seeing them in a picture together for the first time since she was super little a few years ago.
Justin Furstenfeld (and everyone in the band) has helped me through so much in my lifetime, and I can never thank them enough. I hope you keep listening to and commenting on Blue October songs, they are all so impactful.

I've been there right up close and personal and what you hear on this, is what you get. Justin sings his soul to you and really gets you in the feels. I have broken down at a couple of his concerts, just because of how amazing he engages with his fans. His voice is like nothing I have ever heard live, and probably never hear again. The rest of the band does an amazing job as well, especially Ryan on the violin. You should check their track, Light You Up, live. This is the very first song I heard them perform and I just knew I had to see them live.

Justin is a beautiful soul who wears his heart on his sleeve. He is amazing live and/or acoustic, and I'd be thrilled if you dove deep into their catalogue. This whole album "Any Man in America" will tear you apart. Each album is a chapter of his life full of ups and downs. I'd suggest any of their "live in Texas" or "argue with a tree" live songs, but you really can't go wrong.

I envy you discovering Blue October. Your reaction as he began to rev up the engines to the first "Stay" was great. Justin's emotional range is unsurpassed. Two performance that really grabbed me when I first discovered them were Hate Me ruclips.net/video/Y3F3AcnGFWw/видео.html and I Hope You're Happy ruclips.net/video/NKRldPkXgeI/видео.html Spend some time watching their live performances, both with the full band and just Justin and his acoustic guitar, where he often explains why he wrote different songs. Also read the comments on their videos and how their music has touched the lives of so many people.
There is an old joke about ham and eggs: The chicken is involved, but the pig is committed. Most singers are "involved" with their music. Justin is "committed".

I started listening to them alot deeper a few years ago as my life started falling apart, divorced my partner who i was with since highschool, lost the chances to see my son every day and lost who i was. But I felt an energy that helped me stand back up and weather everything thrown at me. I fell hard, but i found that no matter how hard the fall, others have fallen much farther and still stood back up. In a way, i am glad my life turned into what it was, because i found something deep that i didn't expect, and when i struggle i can come back to this and find some strength even when im exhausted. No im not an artist. But I regularly get into low places even with the progress. And i sit down in the piano and everything flows into songs that nobody else will ever hear, hours of intense notes and chords that bandage my soul piece by piece, I wish i had the power Justin has to have my music heal those around me. I know i probably over shared, but I totally get and appreciate what he continues to do. Even as things get better, he brings us on the journey of his healing. Giving us light in the dark. I will never have the confidence to share my feelings through music, but so grateful to experience this music from someone who has been through so much and used that struggle to elevate those around him.

I've come full circle seen them live two times. I met the band at the meet and greet befor the show. Talked with the guys and Justin and explained how and why The Worry List hit so close to home. Plus the guys took a group photo with me. They were awesome and Justin said "Sorry man."It's all good now I said plus your music helps thanks so much. I love his happier new stuff too!

I saw Blue October in Shepherds Bush about 6years ago. My partner was blown away with how emotional and into the show he is. I said, I'm pretty sure it's just because he's on drugs. Well this really annoyed her because "these are artists and it's authentic...and I just didn't understand..." ...Anyway, he then started snorting drugs on stage between songs. Which didn't detract from his performance or the meaning of his songs, but for me did remove a bit of the authenticity, and probably explained a lot of the challenges and issues he sings about. Great show and great band though and I would recommend them to anyone.

If you follow their discography you can actually join Justin's journey year, on year, from struggling with his illness and broken relationships to reaching a type of catharsis and joy. It's a truly inspiring band and I'm surprised they're not more of a household name.

I've seen Blue October several times in smaller venues. Justin is amazing. The whole band is great, but there's something about his raw emotions that gets me at my core. I'm also in recovery, and we both struggled during similar periods of our lives. My daughter buys us tickets every time he's playing in town. We'll see him again in September again - VIP tickets this time though :)

When I first heard this track, as far as I can remember, heard it on Radio 2, here in the UK, but heard the last half of the song, got a Peter Gabriel vocal kind of vibe from the song, maybe it was just me.

5:50 Ive lived a life of torment. But I was also not given any talent to sing, or write, or paint, or draw, or anything. So I've just held everything in for my 38 years of life. Finding this band has really helped me in keeping those tamed when I would come to a breaking point.

Why dont you find the song where Justin Breaks down on the stage singing....where you can really feel the struggle and cost of someones betrayel......rawest emotion.

I've been a fan of Blue October since 1998 when they played in Houston bars so small you'd have to be careful not to knock over a mic stand when ordering at the bar.
In my opinion, no band, no artist has ever taken listeners on their journey like Justin has. Through his mental and emotional issues, depression, addiction, loss and the joy and pain of being a father and separation from his daughter Blue.
Start with the album The Answers and listen to chronologically, and Justin shares every feeling, holding nothing back.
And along the way, you experience the growth of the band musically, which on its own is a amazing.
Also, Blue October is one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I've been to probably 30+ shows over the years. Every one of them has been outstanding.
As one comment mentioned earlier, they are criminally underrated and under appreciated.

They are my favourite band now. I love how you said...baring your soul to us. Every song is unique and has a great story, lesson, and cathartic for the listener. Beautiful. I will see them later this month in Texas. For a Canadian, it is a drive. But when you find these types of artists in your life journey, I feel that you should also use them to guide you. Great tunes. Thank you, new subscriber

This band are so good live, not just Justins singing but every member is on point. If you get the chance to see them go and see them. They will make you sad but at the same time so happy inside. Because we can all relate to the songs when you have a crap day.❤

You will not find anyone like Justin! The way he writes, his songs and connects with those who listen to Blue October. Go down the rabbit hole and listen to every album. You will not be disappointed!! Enthusiastic about something to the point of obsession is one of his lines and that truly represents my thoughts and feeling about Justin, each member of his band, his music and his writing. I just love them sooo much!!

The whole hospital stay that is Blue October is the song HRSA. Please listen to that. I’d heard it for years but when my ex 11 years ago convinced me to go to the hospital to work things out I was like “shit! I’m going HRSA”. Turns out she just used that against me in divorce but still. She had told me prior she didn’t believe in my mental diagnosis until it fit her.

How ‘Blue October’ is not one of the most successful bands in the world is an absolute mystery to me. People will buy the crappiest albums and go to the crappiest shows while they pay no attention to great music. Baffling.
