  • No save states. No playbook manipulation. No bullshit. Just win 116-0.
You can actually see me save states a few times if you watch closely, but I never actually loaded. I was saving just in case. It turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be. I just wanted to break 100, but I end up with 118.
Sorry the video is a little laggy. My computer needed a reboot during this video.

I remember going 18-0 in the regular season once with the 49ers. How did I go 18-0 in a 16-game season you ask? I made use of a little known glitch. When you win the division and the "division champion" screen appears, hit the reset button. Your previous game will still count, but you'll get to play that same game a 2nd time. I did this when I clinched my division, then again after beating the Chiefs in week 16 which clinched the division title for the Raiders. With those two extra regular season games, I was able to compile an 18-0 record.

Just started playing this again with my original cartridge on a Retron console. Such a blast! I don't mess with opponents playbooks or starters though, and I only use the nose tackle when the QB is in shotgun. Currently 8-0 with the Pats. Late nights with the guys using Doritos and Mountain Dew as fuel. Great memories!

top 5 dark horse players on this game in random order:
    1. Wayne Haddix (my pick for best corner on this game. I’d say he’s the second best secondary player only behind David Fulcher of the Bengals. I don’t have Fulcher on this list since he was fairly well known in the 1980s for being a good safety.
    2. Jim Jenson. Backup TE fir Dolphins…his 69 catch ability (avg. condition) was comparable to pro bowl TEs and receivers on this game.
    3. Dave Waymer. The best safety on the 49ers. Lott was faster and hit harder, but Waymer had 10 ints in 1990 (the year this game is based). RIP as of 1993.
    4. Gary Anderson, RB for Tampa Bay. Probably the best all purpose back on the game. As fast as the pro bowl rbs on the game (except of course for Barry and Bo), and has catch ability higher than most rbs (50 or 56)
    5. Mark Jackson, WR for Denver. Catch ability of 75.
There’s other players like Keith Millard, Joey Browner, Al Toon, Henry Ellard, etc. but I didn’t count them since most people who followed football at that time those players went to multiple pro bowls (Millard was once DP of the Year)

I honestly feel like this is the most legit, non cheat, non change playbook MAN vs CPU opponent highest score out there on RUclips. I am on attempt like 20 + something and this is difficult, yet I honestly believe 123-0 is possible. "I think I did that once, yet I probably changed the play book for the oppenent...." If I ever beat this 116-0, I am posting my video here!!!

Should've onside kicked the final kickoff.. takes 11 seconds. Better odds of recovering and giving yourself another play to score.

how are those safety's there forward passes so the should not have counted. take some points away or maybe tecmo realized there mistake and readjusted the score to 99-0 after further review

Not sure what you mean. If the QB is tackled in the end zone with the ball, it's definitely a safety. Also, there's a glitch in this version that won't allow it to display scores over 99.

@Orn Gorn No, the pass completed. He caught it, tried to take a step forward, and got his shit wrecked. In the end zone, that's a safety.

If anyone is interested, there is a group of us from Buffalo, NY who are in the beginning works of starting a Tecmo Super Bowl fantasy league concept. It combines fantasy sports with this classic game. In order to interact and watch simulated games, check out our RUclips channel at Tecmo Super Bowl Fantasy to see how we broadcast games, chat using the comments field, etc. Feel free to give feedback and give advice. We are looking for potential commissioners when we roll it out. Right now we are still in testing.
