And we also never 'kidnapped' Africans. We bought them along the coast of now Ghana. Until the late 1800's no European people would even survive the inland of sub-saharan Africa.
as Indonesian i like the video, this history is interesting since it is important for me as an ex-private state of the Netherlands to know the history of the master land, Indonesia was not a kingdom possession until the 18th, it was still VOC's territory and very small and the remnant of its citizen are still there, Netherland nationalizes Malay archipelago, but not yet fully possessed it so they started a campaign to conquest every malay kingdom called pax-netherlandica until 19th.
@@marcsetmais7598 yes, that is why i focused on 18th, but Java is old and it's part of Indonesia, dutch colony was our work too because most of KNIL is indian/indigenous, that is why we put them together, before south Africa, netherland-India/batavia is already declared as a state in 1602 not part of netherland but European state, the reason why we called it colonial state is that Indigenous state were occupied, we still have access to EU trade but not a through VOC because it was banned and illegal, like EIC, Denmark-Norway east, France east indies, Portugal and spain, until 1640 we finally isolated and exiled by the dutch, until Indonesia exist, we don't even have actual political relation with netherland, the state didn't even know us, that is why decoloniation is important. and Christianity is already introduced during the Old World by Italian, spain, and Portuguese. We are not their colony, protestant during colonialism and missionaries were policed by the dutch state because it is not state-sponsored. In apartheid state it was wrong to humanize non-Europeans with Christianity it made exploitation harder, also for Muslim state welfare by the netherland, they gave Muslim access to pilgrimage in arab kingdom even education, among all Christian are most suffered.
The Watergeuzen were Dutch, not English. But good video in general

The real Dutch colonial rule over the entire Indonesian territory was actually surprisingly short. A lot of people tend to forget that.

I have a project to draw the europe in 1650.... still on the german , part , but with this video i drew a big part of netherlands , thanks.
Glad I could help.
Be careful to not add Flevoland (16:38 in the vid) Sometimes I see an "old" map of Europe in a game or video and it has the Polder on the map🤦🏻♂️
It was the destroying of Idols, not art
Beeldenstorm was a catastrophic destruction of Catholic art. Idols are religious art. Iconoclasm (Beeldenstorm) is the destruction of it.
Well Rutte is leaving office for good now, so we'll see what happens!

Nou zeg, als je hier de reacties leest begrijp je onmiddellijk waar het oer-Hollandse gezegde "Spijkers op laag water zoeken" vandaan komt.
Ik hou van deze opmerking. Bedankt.
En zo is het.
