Damn. What a freakish thing to happen to someone. I drive Reche canyon once in a while and only see assholes, not asses. Condolences to the family. This is not a good way to start the new year.
@evelynwaugh4053 Right. Happens with Deer everywhere where I live & it's not in the country, there is just so much new construction going on it's running them out of the woods around here along with coyotes becoming pretty popular to be seen in our City a lot at night. My son sees Coyotes on his security cameras at night just roaming around in his back yard. The Deer are just everywhere day & night. We have a couple main streets in particular that you just KNOW you better keep your eyes peeled & actually drive a little under the posted speed because it's so common to see one jump right out into traffic or a whole family or herd of them just walking right across the street like pedestrians. There's a massive overpopulation of them here.
Motorcycles are already dangerous going slow. I flew over the handlebars hitting a piece of hidden concrete in the grass on a pit bike and got knocked out and had to have my arm in a sling for months. Yeah it's hilarious now, but when it happened I had that noxious traumatic feeling like I was gonna die. Not very fun. I go slow now that I ride on the road. A deer ran out in front of me one time and scared the holy dog shit outa me. Seeing the "r1" on that piece of plastic tells me he had a fast bike and was probably going fast on it. R.I.P. to two of my good friends who started on fast bikes. Malic Yousif and Jeremy Silva. Start on a slow bike and get your experience up before you get a faster bike. And start on a dirt bike so you can get the feel for riding on different surfaces. It'll make you a better rider.
Very dangerous stretch of road. Curvy, high speed, narrow, 2 lane shortcut between Riverside and San Bernardino counites. Throw in the wild, semi feral burro population, that roams the area day and night, no streetlights... and to make matters worse, this small stretch of road spans several jurisdictions in just two miles (Riverside County, San Bernardino County, City of Colton, City of Moreno Valley, CHP) so no one agency really patrols it much or claims it... So the speeding is out of control. It's kind of a death canyon. (note the accident was in Riverside County, but Colton fire from San Bernardino responded, with Riverside County Fire, and CHP) The road has so much jurisdictional confusion, they usually roll everyone and figure it out later.
