Me and a few friends have this system where if a ship is detected, the ship goes into "yellow alert" where the lights all go yellow. Red alert has to be manually activated and it would mean that any non-essential crew head to the escape pod area. We have a similar tube to yours, just the colour comes from lights and the walls are grey and the lights are red. What happens is a pod is dropped from the top you then get in and launch of via gravity generators. We have actually have a very similar design to yours. We also have a self destruct which is set to detonate at the captains order. (technically anybody can do it, but you know... we like to kind of roleplay)
I would give these escape pods a black skin, because if your base, or your ship will be destroyed by enemy ships... Its easy for them to spot these white pods in space. Black is the camouflage of the galaxy, so its the best to give them a black suit.
I used merge blocks to connect the main bridge so when you are under attack you simply release the bridge and fly away (I had thrusters on the bridge aswell).
(this works for small ship ejections systems aswell) have a merge block attaching the cockpit of a small ship, or the large-small rotor glitch attaching a single large ship block sized (small ship) escape pod... and have a turned off thruster facing the connection at 100% override, so when you turn it on you break free and shoot off at a high speed, in a very small target.. i mean... escape system.
Pyrobird It really depends on how it's positioned. If you make the bridge right in the core of the ship, this is the best way to escape. If it's on the exterior and not covered, God help you.
Idea: If there's heavy enemy fire still going on, set up a flare system that spews decoys all over the place, so the turrets will be distracted while you escape.
This is an interesting concept, but I think this would be used better for shock troop deployment to attack asteroids and space stations, sort of like Odsts in halo. Small personal high speed transports that can outrun automated target systems would be a perfect deployment system for a few highly skilled combatants to be inserted to the combat zone.
See with planets soon, this is a more practical idea now. Ships exploding while your near a planet, align your pods with it and jettison down to planet. You can rebuild there and you need the pod to enter the atmosphere
+XDarkFableX The only problem is have you tried crashing one of these into the ground? ... the largest small ship ion thruster cannot propel the 11 ton keen escape pod in a G-force of higher than .8 without smashing itself into the ground at about 60+ m/s These pods are infact totally impractical: as there is no hydrogen thruster on them ! :P
Tyriael Soban Not terribly hard to replace thrusters, and the pod just has to keep the occupant alive until he lands, so as long as it achieves that, it's a success
Tyriael Soban Nope because my computer runs on AMD and the planet update and AMD don't want to play nice. Twice now the second any decent sized vessel "touches" the surface of the planet, the game crashes
interesting idea and the escape pods you made look pretty awesome, though maybe they could use some thrusters so your not dead in space especially during a firefight
4 people will launch with a pod. Everyone else will die. Why are you not making the piston faster and a timer block so you only have to hit one button to load the next ship?
A good captain is the last to disembark, only after he knows for sure that his crew is safe. An excellent captain gives the last order and bursts into the enemy ship at full speed to secure his crew from escaping or at least to give them as much time as possible. Only a cowardly rat from Captain saves himself first.
I know this video is hella old, but I have to respond to that question near the end. One of my favorite ships I've ever built is split into two primary levels - Home Ship and Escape Fighter The home ship is not pilotable without the Escape Fighter. It's essentially a house with thrusters, generators and gyroscopes to aid the extra weight added on to it. In an area that it would seem right to have the cockpit in, is where the Escape Fighter goes, and it's primary function is to be able to break off away from the larger body of the house and escape from danger in a more nimble, lightly armed fighter.
The pistons should be faster so you could get out quicker. If it is an emergency like gravity is gone or a massive hole and players are on a killing spree. If the killing spree happens, then you need to speed up the pistons so just so they can't get to you. They move pretty damn slow.
damn how many people don't know about increasing piston speed here let me do my act again *Ahem* Bro do you even engineer hah you could increase piston speed from 0 to OH shit!
This design is very nice, I would like to see a longer life sustaining escape pod, like one that uses the cryo chamber. Also your escape pod would be harder to detect by the pirates if it were a different color, something a little more darker.
i dont see much point in this. besides the whole rig takes up a lot of space and if your ship is crippled, the chance of it still working correctly would be slim to none. a more practical escape pod idea would be something smaller and having multiple tubes throughout the entire ship, so if a single area is destroyed, u could theoretically escape through a different area. still if your ship has been crippled, and your attackers see your goofy ass escape pod aimlessly floating off... they will gank your silly little pod in a heartbeat. i think you'd be much safer in your suit.
Depends. If you can conceal the launch tube and keep it away from vital targets it might work. Additionally the idea with the gravity launch is to get your ship as close to top speed as possible, or at least give you a good enough kick that it would take a while for them to track you down (by which point you can abandon it and hide). Though yeah, most sci-fi films have multiple places to launch escape craft from. Alien is about the only example (I can think of) where they only had one option, though presumably there were two shuttles at some point.
that's what im saying... your pods should take up 1 large ship block (because there made of small ship blocks) so you can fit allot more of them in 'relatively' the same space as this massive(ly) useless monstrosity.... and at the beginning of this video he said he always makes weapons...well to bad none of them are effective, or the 1 or 2 that are are DEFINITELY not cost effective when THERE ARE cost effective weapon systems out there BEYOND missiles and machine guns.
TEKNO640 i just finished a frigate that throws explosives from connectors, and detonated with rockets. it does EXTREME damage with a very simple setup. i'd pit it against one of his recockulous torpedo throwers any day of the week.
you would need to find a way to make the piston go up faster so if you are boarded you the attack is near the launching place, you can escape. you should also have it be able to be piloted to evade the enemy
the main issues here are..... 1: his escape pods take up to much room, hence why he complained about having multiple pod chambers, and there to big so they'll get shot down because they cant change there velocity.. 2: he only has 1 pod chamber, so if that gets taken out his whole crew if fucked.... 3: his pods are propelled by gravity, a whole lotta shit can go wrong there (i recommend using the thruster overrides).... 4: he cannot launch all his pods at once, so its impossible for it in that case to be a 'faster' system to escape them most other system that launch all there pods at once.
TEKNO640 I agree with point 4, this seems more like a system you could use for deploying beacons or mines, something that doesn't require much urgency. As for point 3, I think it would work pretty well if you replaced the connectors and spotlights with small engines and placed one in each of the little alcoves he has between the cockpits. The gravity blocks could be used for a fast ejection (with no flames to risk unnecessary damage) and then the engines could be switched on when the pod needed to bake or maneuver.
this entire system is for style and seems more for show than practicality. if it was to be used on an effective scale it would be on massive mega ships and larger stations that can hold more than one of these rooms and have some tweaks be made so a ship can use it without having the pods explode in the launch tube. I have suggested using landing gears as a rail guide to make it so pods can launch even if the tube is beat up a bit. it is cool, I even use a similar idea to launch interceptors out of a carrier full automated system loads a ship into the tube fires it out at max speed all without requiring the fighter to even think of moving until it leaves the tube. it doesnt even need to accelerate out. put that pod through that launch tube I made and it might actually survive especially if the ship you are running from is using all missile and gat turrets. those things are dumb and typically focus on the wreckage that breaks off your ship, they dont bother picking up new targets until the small pieces are vaporized.
Interesting Concept. I have an Idea for you for a new type of Mining and Mining Robot. First you build a normal one, with one Telescope Arm and a combinator at the end, and a separate driller module, but only with one driller on it. Second you make a second Module, with a big bomb on it, but it shouldn't be wider or taller than the driller module. Now you take the driller module, and drill a tunnel in an asteroid, as far as the telescope arm goes. Then you retrackt the arm and bring the driller module to a save point, disconnect it, take the bomb on the End of the telescopearm, fly to that tunnel, place it there with the Arm, make it sharp with a 20 or 30 second countdown, disconnect it, retrackt the Arm and fly to a save spot, and not directly before the Tunnelentrance. (Havn't tested it yet, but it could be, that there comes debris out of the Tunnel with high speed.) You could make this some times, and at the end, you have a big empty bubble in an Asteroid, ready to make a new mining base, or to blow away a nasty asteroid, or something else. (Idea comes from the Movie Armageddon. Place an Atom Bomb IN an Asteroid, insted of let it detonate on the surface. ^^ )
I have just one critque and that is the fact that you stack them. When you are going to do escapes pods, you want to launch them as fast as possible, everyone at once if possible. This system however would be great for planetary/Assult operations, just for the space-saving thing.
My escape pods are based off of the design from halo. They're square-ish in structure and have room for four people in the back, and the pilot in front. There is a storage container below it, filled with enough resources to use to build a small base. It has a few small thrusters around it, so its doesn't turn on a dime, but it gets the job done, and the thrusters mean that if the power is out, all you have to do is undock and rocket out of the ship in an emergency. Underneath the escape pods there's an antenna. Each of the escape pods have different tags (Escape Pod #1, #2, etc.) so its easy to prioritise them (if the captain with vital Intel had escaped, he could transmit which one he's in). They each have a single turret near the antenna underneath the ship for protection. They're a little bit bigger than two of your escape pods on top of each other, LSG, but they are extremely good at keeping the occupants safe for a long time. I've only used it once in a battle, but I managed to survive through it!
Having one bay is a bad idea. What if the hole gets jammed or the mechanism fails. A single inertia weapon could fry the whole system with enough explosives, leaving you trapped apart from fighters which would be mostly destroyed if your abandoning ship.
That four cockpit design just looks so cool with that fighter cockpit mod. I would add some armored slope thrusters just so the pod isn't drifting indefinitely.
Good idea, ship is needlessly big. My pod design online was small, but effective: A 3x3 box, with Illusive Man Chair in the center, with glass in front to see out of. A battery, beacon, S.container and mass block, covered with catwalks to hide them. Paint was 3 shades of grey.
Awesome idea for multiplayer game worlds. I was looking at the cool edges and thinking 'wow, where did I miss that mod', until you said what they were.
Maybe the next ship you could look at building is something for boarding stations. A quick Large Ship that could launch landing craft or implement drop pods for a boarding crew to fight through an enemy station. That way you could take over other players/factions bases without having to destroy it largely.
One of the major flaws I noticed was the amount of time that it took for the piston to actually bring the next escape pod up. It needs to be MUCH faster. When you're in an emergency situation, every second counts. And if every second counts, then the last seconds you're going to spend will be waiting for the pods to actually get into position because you're likely to die when an enemy player finds you and/or a ship/another enemy player spots the tube out of which the last escape pod launched because a mechanism was too slow. Naturally, this can be improved by heightening the piston's velocity speed (I think it was velocity), though props to whoever came up with the design. Also, the last thing that you want is to be noticed by enemy ships/players right after you've escaped. The white colours really don't help your situation. It would be better to colour them black or at least a darker colour.
I think that the idea for splitting up your ship is cool, A: accessible escape pods anywhere on the ship. B: you can split your ship during combat to act as a fleet
It might be an idea to have a blast door near the end of that tube. One good hit from a rocket launcher could totally mangle that chute and block any escape attempt. I've experimented with making the bridge of a ship being a detachable, fully functional small craft that you can quickly detach with mass blocks, but keeping the size down can be tricky and it tends to be in a vulnerable position unless you cover it with some kind of retractable heavy armour shield.
I recently watched your claw and thermal missile videos and thought that it would great to incorporate those two into one design. I was thinking that this could be done by storing a thermal missile in the breaching claw body, giving the boarding team the option of a straighter breach, directly into the space ahead. I would love to see if this is possible and your the only person that I could think of to do it!
Pretty sweet concept, but it needs a couple thrusters to stabilize the pod once you've reached a safe distance so you don't drift away from your rescuers. Also, it might be a good idea to turn off the mass blocks when not in use.
If it gets to the point where you MUST get away, a cool design would be to have a self destruct switch inside of the escape pod so when you fly away, the enemy won’t notice the pod as they think it is debris flying off because the ship has been completely destroyed, leaving no evidence of an escape pod area.
When you kinda think of it, while having only 1 pod bay is good for space saving, if you only have one and something like a missile flies in and destroys it, you can't get anyone out of any alternate bays because there aren't any other bays.
interesting design; I like the gravity cube system, but I would have at least 4 small engines so you could at least slow yourself down... otherwise you risk pulling a Dutchman. And I'd also have at least one battery onboard hooked up to a solar panel, so you could keep the ship powered and semi-mobile if there is no rescue coming.
Hey one issue u overlooked was how do the players stop so that they can be picked up or start a new base/ship. Or how do they avoid an asteroid cuz at one point they will defiantly run into one.
I personally use use multiple inertia cannons which fire out a main pod and a ring of similar shapes of light armour with decoys with the same name that scatter. They also have enough materials on board to build thrusters and power a reactor to escape.
True or maybe the pod could become like a compact ship, for example parts open up revealing pieces that fold out to make wings, or maybe he could make wings fold out from behind
I have a "shit the bed" protocol where the entire bridge is a ship in itself, when activated the crew within the bridge will be saved from a dangerous situation by a warp drive built into the bridge, leaving the outer hull behind with turrets built under the bridge now able to engage the attacker.
Oooh, freaking epic... but imagine doing something like that for mini fighters... a quick launch carrier, fire off numerous fighters quickly for a rapid assault... fast to engage, slow to reset and pull back though.
1st: the reason you don't tent to see single escape pod setups on ship and all escape pods are in separate areas is so they cannot all be taken out at the same time, and so they can all launch at the same time. me personally, i have a setup that can fit in 2 large ship blocks just under my armor layer: 1 seat surrounded in thin armor, has a battery and connector, and an antenna, and is all attached to a connector on my large ship (can replace connectors with he rotor glitch), this takes off using the thruster override system to destroy the connection and launch very quickly on reserve battery power. multi-seat variants don't take up much more room and are good for bigger ship. (use the same 'thruster destroys merge block' to launch my escape pods of heavy fighters).
Mmm. Those drop pods are a fairly cool Idea. Though I'd think they'd be much better suited for just a planetary drop. Load them up with supplies and drop in to build down below. Taking big ships without proper landing setting or way heavy payloads is just dangerous some times. So drop pods can be fit with Parachutes and a survival kit. I know this Video predates some of those things, but just seems like a very cool idea!
personally i don't have escape pods in any of my ships, simply because so far i haven't built a ship that's big enough for an escape pod. your thing seems cool though. only problem might be the slow piston. imagine having all your crew running towards the escape-pod-bay in an emergency. now if more than 4 people arrive at once, one of them will have to wait for the next escape pod to come up. and if there are 8 or more people waiting for an escape pod at once, it should be brought up immediately. so maybe it would be better to let them drop down instead of having them lifted up. of course this also limits your capacity as you can't drop them from too far or they will get damaged and possibly even become completely unusable. maybe put the connector-thing at the top, so that people hop in and press p to drop down and then when it's on the floor the artificial mass is toggled by one of the people in there.
For an escape pod the most important thing is how much energy is on the pod. You cannot live in the game without power to the life support system so I would think putting lots of uranium onboard or somehow implementing a solar panel. It would be nice if the dev would implement a solar block with all the different shapes so you could make a solar ship without having giant panels sticking out of it.
Escape pods are a nice concept. Imagine being in medium size cruiser, then a giant fleet of medium and small ships come and start attacking. I'd get all my troops into escape pods and shoot them off, and I'd slowly shoot towards them and self destruct :-D
I prefer individual life pod jettison points over a long tunnel for the life pods to go down. A crippled ship is likely rolling or tumbling. In this case an escaping life pod is going to collide with the tunnel walls and possibly block it. Also a life pod need a bit of cargo capacity to store the building components for an assembler, refinery, spare reactor, control station and medical bay. Now that you escaped, it could be days if not weeks lost in space in an open universe. Plan for the very worst.
One solution would be to have escape pods mounted into the side of the hull, blasting off and then releasing the pressure cover they were attached to. This means that you can have them around the ship, whilst not leaving a huge hole for invasion.
I don't own the game, but I have an idea. You could make all the rooms in the ship detach from each other, and they could all have their own thrusters, a seat, and a reactor. This way you could easily escape from pirates by making it so there's more stuff to hit.
My ideal escape pod would need at least a small armament and ready supplies in it, it would need very thick front armour for if you land on a planet. If you can still fit it, add more thruster at the front so most of the supplies and subsystems at the front wont get destroyed when it crash lands. The supplies should have enough to build a small temporary home or maybe even repairing the main ship after the battle or maybe the main ship hit an asteroid causing the crew to momentarily evacuate.
Maybe you could paint the inner front wall of the tube with one different color each layer so that the guy controlling the piston could calculate when exactly the pod is ready?
I think these might need some thrusters so that the escapee could stop the pod when they feels their safe. I could imagine it being a pain to locate or pickup if it's constantly zipping away. Or worse, if you're solo and no pick up is coming you couldn't strip it down for parts to start over because the second you get out it will zip off without you. It does look nice though.
I kinda based mine off the Invisible hand from the 3rd star wars movie. Small pods with 3 seats and 1 large thruster connected by connectors. nothing fancy but they look cool when you launch them 1 after another.
We actually did a space battle with my group of friends and we got boarded and did some CQC from the compartments but had to abandon ship and I had life pods that were small ships docked with landing gear but they were off and when turned on the thrusters were on full forward burn override so when you wanted to stop you have to manually turn the override off and it worked great I got my crew off and we made it back to our station
With one of my ships I have planned out I have an escape pod bay that launches pods out, but there's a control room I can use in the bay that has a button that can lockdown the sector that the bay is in, and the bay is powered by its own reactor
One problem (and reason for multiport escape pods) is if that tunnel takes a hit your escape craft are trapped. Whereas if there's multiple, you can still launch a few.
good concept but I would advise fitting thrusters to it for manuverability and to stop you from crashing into an asteroid and get you away from whatever is attacking your ship, or just escaping the ship self destructing
have somthing a bit more classic, pod doors and a set of pods that you can just load into. i feel these work better for emergency sit's because if you have a crew thats larger than 4 and that piston is damn slow if you ask me, you gotta get as many people out as possible, however, this system i feel works well for a captains evac or VIP evac because of how low profile this ejection port can be. while the one we use is kinda like the ones on Voyager.
This is cool, but what I did was I made an opening door at the end of the escape tube, so that way no enemies notice it is an actual escape pod bay. Another thing I did was I added more armor and put it more towards the center.
I like the design of the pods, but I'd change one thing..I'd dump the generators for a couple of solar panels on rotors, and a battery or two..this way, you don't have to worry about running out of fuel before you get picked up. I know, you could dump a ton of uranium into the reactors, but in an actual survival map, that's fuel wasted
You should mount fighters like that, for the escape pods, its a little impractical and slow firing, but for fighters it would be perfect! much better than the hangar bay doors ive seen on a lot of designs
Just remember, if the ship is taking fire. Those launch tubs will probably be dented, so my suggestion would be make them really short and facing downwards. or at least that's what I think.
6 year old idea...still aged well. Put a parachute on this and you're golden. Maybe build a slightly bigger one with a single medium CC in the center with enough components to build a windmill, a solar panel, a battery, a Hydrogen/Oxy generator and 4 guns with ammo
This is one of those times when Arron builds something that would actually be very efficient and useful in a PVP scenario, and I hate it. I don't know about you guys, but the idea of fighting my way to one of the many escape pod bays located around a ship sounds awesome, and there's nothing quite like a shit-ton of drop pods blasting out of the underside of a giant capital ship.
A way you could probably improve the launching mechanism is by using gravity generators that sling the pod out of the tunnel, but to be honest that's probably a better idea for fighters.
It would be interesting to have this giant mega ship go against a bunch of pirate ships. If there were escape pods, the could be a ship with a crap ton of grinders to just eat up the escape pods as they launch
I don't have this game but I would build escape pods like on a cruise ship. Or maybe as cabins for some people to live on the outside of the ship. And in case of emergency they can be detached from the main ship like the separated cockpit you build for one of you small fighters.
There is a reason there are 5 or 6 different lifeboat stations all over a ship. You've concentrated your entire capability to escape the ship in a single place.
Me and a few friends have this system where if a ship is detected, the ship goes into "yellow alert" where the lights all go yellow. DarkSharingan21 Thanks :D What do you do in Space Engineers?
Other than just piss around with bombs :P lol
+Gaming Cube You roleplay in Space Engineers? Could I ever join you? Sorry if I sound weird.
Blaise Vought Its fine, you don't sound weird. But it's kinda just a thing me and my friends have going... Sorry D:
+selectLOL You are awesome. I do exactly the same thing
I like how escape pods tend to look like coffins.

If it hits the ground too hard, then...
Well, let's just say that funeral won't be open casket.
I would give these escape pods a black skin, because if your base, or your ship will be destroyed by enemy ships... Its easy for them to spot these white pods in space. Black is the camouflage of the galaxy, so its the best to give them a black suit.
I've got a ship that blows itself up, and activates hyper-drive at the same time. then glitches out and stretches your POV across the galaxy.
I'd just have this massive ship that's a target that self destruct and has no purpose and this tiny little ship which is the real ship
I've got a ship that splits in two and flies away. I named it Titanic for obvious reasons...
omg lol!!! 😂
@Cypher Supreme that spelling is actual cancer
@@axothylest4417 of course he sounds like he makes his last breath during he writes "Kancer"

I used merge blocks to connect the main bridge so when you are under attack you simply release the bridge and fly away (I had thrusters on the bridge aswell).
Fuck the working man and soldiers! Save the Captains!
That's all well and good and all but.. generally the bridge is one of the first places to be hit.

You'd get four people out before the entire ship was blown away, that's so damn slow.
Yeah. Way too slow and over engineered.
Does it even have a survival kit?
Couldnt you have added a sensor somewhere around the middle of the tunnel they launch into so it will automatically start the piston?
This is an interesting concept, but I think this would be used better for shock troop deployment to attack asteroids and space stations, sort of like Odsts in halo. Small personal high speed transports that can outrun automated target systems would be a perfect deployment system for a few highly skilled combatants to be inserted to the combat zone.

THE CAPTAIN GOES DOWN WITH HIS SHIP.
but I do use similar pods with grinders as a boarding pod. doesn't always work bur it's DAMN cool.

you should live steam, I would love to see that
Yeah I'd like to see him in a sauna.
Livestream while he builds
are you fucking serious???!!!?!?!?Do you even know how long it takes to build a battlecruiser !!??
MANY LIVESTREAMS WILL BE DONE
Very nice design. Simple, yet effective. It may be a bit too slow raising up into position though in a real emergency.
damn how many people don't know about increasing piston speed here let me do my act again *Ahem*

This design is very nice, I would like to see a longer life sustaining escape pod, like one that uses the cryo chamber. Also your escape pod would be harder to detect by the pirates if it were a different color, something a little more darker.

that's what im saying... your pods should take up 1 large ship block (because there made of small ship blocks) so you can fit allot more of them in 'relatively' the same space as this massive(ly) useless monstrosity.... and at the beginning of this video he said he always makes weapons...well to bad none of them are effective, or the 1 or 2 that are are DEFINITELY not cost effective when THERE ARE cost effective weapon systems out there BEYOND missiles and machine guns.
Pyrobird that stargate SGU reference though :)
TEKNO640
i just finished a frigate that throws explosives from connectors, and detonated with rockets. it does EXTREME damage with a very simple setup. i'd pit it against one of his recockulous torpedo throwers any day of the week.
TEKNO640 dont hate. i think his weapons kick ass
you would need to find a way to make the piston go up faster so if you are boarded you the attack is near the launching place, you can escape. you should also have it be able to be piloted to evade the enemy
Ummm wtf pistons have option for speed?? :D he is using something like 0.5 and max is i think 14
sorry i can't use pistons in my game it crashes
the main issues here are.....
(Havn't tested it yet, but it could be, that there comes debris out of the Tunnel with high speed.)
You could make this some times, and at the end, you have a big empty bubble in an Asteroid, ready to make a new mining base, or to blow away a nasty asteroid, or something else.
That way you could take over other players/factions bases without having to destroy it largely.
just got the game
i can predict that my ships are going to be just tinny cars, but here i am, looking at ideas
that looks awesome, the modded cockpit looks so much better than the standard one. it would be awesome to make a small ship that looked that good
One of the major flaws I noticed was the amount of time that it took for the piston to actually bring the next escape pod up.
I agree. They need to add air physics. It would add so much depth to large dreadnaught battles with crews and stuff like that!
Love the design of these escape pods :o
Love the 80s "Buck Rogers in the 25th century " rainbow launch tube. Just needs the sfx 😀
That's pretty cool, you could probably have a sensor trigger the lift sequence as the previous pod edits the tunnel
You have also make a bunch of dud escape pods so the enemy doesn’t know which is the one holding the crew.
Pretty sweet concept, but it needs a couple thrusters to stabilize the pod once you've reached a safe distance so you don't drift away from your rescuers. Also, it might be a good idea to turn off the mass blocks when not in use.
You know what I would love to see? A mod for Space Engineers that is like DarkRP For Gmod or a similar roleplay mod.
Of course. Escape pods only work if the ship is still intact. and the enemy ship doesn't auto-lock on to the pods themselves.
What's funny is the video is about retreating and he is called TheLastStandGamers
The pod needs some kind of thrust system or parachute to slow it down if it ends up falling down to a planet
True or maybe the pod could become like a compact ship, for example parts open up revealing pieces that fold out to make wings, or maybe he could make wings fold out from behind
This video was made more than a year before planets. We didn't even know they were coming
Hazo it's pre-planets
this would be a great fighter bay design!
Beautiful pods! But please build a ship around the "show case room" and show us how they operate when their mother ship is moving.
That's a very interesting design for the pods.
Ship is blowing up in 2 minutes
You get into the pod quickly, launch
The next 4 people waits like whole minute untill the next pod elevates
Great job
Dude this is awesome very nice job congrats
One solution would be to have escape pods mounted into the side of the hull, blasting off and then releasing the pressure cover they were attached to. This means that you can have them around the ship, whilst not leaving a huge hole for invasion.
This is an amazing idea! That would be awesome just to have a small blast door to protect the escape tunnel.
Destruction in 2 mins... launch is 1 min each. 3rd pod got the short end of the stick XD
adding a thruster would be nice, what if you podded and headed straight towards an asteroid or debris
Using escape pods is awesome when combined with a self destruct button, leave nothing for your enemies to salvage
Also LSG, CaptainShack gave you a shoutout because of the star wars creation you made! :D
I kinda based mine off the Invisible hand from the 3rd star wars movie. Small pods with 3 seats and 1 large thruster connected by connectors. nothing fancy but they look cool when you launch them 1 after another.
why is kerbal space program and Minecraft in the tags?
We actually did a space battle with my group of friends and we got boarded and did some CQC from the compartments but had to abandon ship and I had life pods that were small ships docked with landing gear but they were off and when turned on the thrusters were on full forward burn override so when you wanted to stop you have to manually turn the override off and it worked great I got my crew off and we made it back to our station
With one of my ships I have planned out I have an escape pod bay that launches pods out, but there's a control room I can use in the bay that has a button that can lockdown the sector that the bay is in, and the bay is powered by its own reactor
These escape pod videos prove to myself that I am more and more of a creative genius my escape pod count on damage to the ship.
This concept could be turned into a torpedo as well :D Amazing!
Basically enlarged version of Star trek Into Darkness Torpedoes lol 😂

Engineer: I have an escape pod! No matter what happens, I'll survive
The very first railgun shot: u sure mate?
One problem (and reason for multiport escape pods) is if that tunnel takes a hit your escape craft are trapped.
Whereas if there's multiple, you can still launch a few.
good concept but I would advise fitting thrusters to it for manuverability and to stop you from crashing into an asteroid and get you away from whatever is attacking your ship, or just escaping the ship self destructing
Now, do the oposite; make pods to jump into other ships and bases. Like the ODST pods.
I absolutely love the design for those escape pods, but I would add thrusters
have somthing a bit more classic, pod doors and a set of pods that you can just load into. i feel these work better for emergency sit's because if you have a crew thats larger than 4 and that piston is damn slow if you ask me, you gotta get as many people out as possible, however, this system i feel works well for a captains evac or VIP evac because of how low profile this ejection port can be. while the one we use is kinda like the ones on Voyager.
Holy crud the intro made my headphones shake on my head... Let's do it again!
Just remember, if the ship is taking fire. Those launch tubs will probably be dented, so my suggestion would be make them really short and facing downwards. or at least that's what I think.
LastStandGamers You should consider updating the LAAT with pistons for the rear compartment doors.
I have found my 1# best youtuber your builds are THE BEST
I quite like your design I was hoping you would do a escape pod episode and I love your design! All the other ones are too bulky or too basic.
When they fully implement remote control, I would love to see you use this escape system to launch fighter drones.
