Once Upon a Time...An ITBR Sneak Preview with author Mary McMyne (writer of The Book of Gothel)

On Wednesday, author Mary McMyne enters the ITBR to talk all things fairy tales and why she turned to the history of European witchcraft as inspiration for her retelling of "Rapunzel." All of the different versions of "Rapunzel," including the Brothers Grimm tale categorize Rapunzel's mother as an evil witch or sorceress. But, did you know that the "witch" has a name...Dame or Mother Gothel? Mary's novel is an empowering origin story about Mother Gothel who finds her authentic voice as a sorceress and yes discovers a tower that eventually she'll raise a child in.
