    Very interesting. Thanks for all the close ups, it's very helpful. Didn't realize it was a legit option when one wants to avoid the brain damage of redoing an entire bathroom and turn a house into a construction site for several weeks

    Don’t you get mold or soap scum and hard water around the tub and shower area? That would be my concern because that stuff needs to be scrubbed or use chemicals. Even vinegar degrade the paint.

    • @robf2952
      @robf2952 6 месяцев назад +5

      Some of the tile paint is scrubbable and will hold up to chemicals but after a couple of years will get some breakdown painting tiles is a temporary fix for a few years not forever.

    • @rubyredjeans
      @rubyredjeans 4 месяца назад +1

      Using soap is the issue I’ve discovered. Using liquid soap = no soap scum = no mould. Ditch the cake of soap. Since changing to liquid soap I have no soap scum or mould problems anymore.

    THANK YOU for posting this.
    We just bought a place with tile like your old one and were wondering what to do. We didn't think about looking into this but it is a great idea.
    We did something similar in our old bathroom. I personally love the way it turned out with the black and white. We only did the bathroom walll, not the rest. We did have to coat it twice because it was stone not tile. The second time, we used a 'spa paint' that would hold up better against the water.

    I had my bathrooms professionally painted and it was a disaster. I had glossy tiles and the paint was glossy. They didn’t do a very good job. It started peeling months in and the mould started peeking through. I saved my money and got all three bathrooms demolished and done. Yes it was a headache and there was a mess, but I love them. Matt porcelain tiles are the best and good quality hardware. One year and a half in and looking after them, the bathrooms still look brand new. A combination of grey tiles, chrome hardware and timber look vanities to warm up the space, picture perfect.

      @Talwyn_Wize 5 месяцев назад +2

      I'm considering a tile paint right now. 😅 The professional painter told me that they/I had to do the following: Clean the whole bathroom properly first (first with a lime remover agent and then twice with strong housewash agent) and use fine grit paper to sand it down, because paint doesn't adhere properly to glossy tiles. Then apply the tile primer before applying two coats of the "oily two-component epoxy-paint" (don't know the proper translation) made for tiles. I was told that there are watered down versions of epoxy-paint as well, made for lighter colours (non-watery loses gloss on light colours far too quickly), but those can't be used in wet areas without peeling over time. Did your painters do this and still fail, or did they do it differently? I'd welcome your experience before making the choice myself. 😊

    Hi. I watched both of your videos. The original and this follow-up. Great videos! One thing I'm a little bit confused about is that I believe you said at one point you said that you skipped step one which looks like Rock Solid Rust-Oleum base coat. You said you used that other primer that said "Stix" on the can. Looking back are you saying that you think you should have used the base coat Rust-Oleum Rock Solid rather than the other primer that you used? Thank you very very much.

    • @richeyrich6855
      @richeyrich6855 11 месяцев назад

      Great question! I am wondering the same thing. Stix is a great primer. I used it with Benjamin Moore Advanced Cabinet & Trim paint and it is outstanding which was recommended by the Benjamin Moore employee over the Benjamin Moore Advanced Primer if you could believe it.
