Ice Fishing for Lake Trout Pups at Flaming Gorge

The Utah DWR and Wyoming Game and Fish are encouraging anglers to catch and keep lake trout pups because there are way too many of them at Flaming Gorge. So we take a trip to catch as many as we can and do our part to help the fishery.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Flaming Gorge. I didn't target Lakers, but I KILLED the Kokanee. I caught several over 3-lbs and and a ton that were 15" 17" The Rainbow were huge also. I haven't been there in nearly 17yrs, but it's by far my favorite KOKE water. We were catch and release, but probably caught 50 per day for 4 straight days. We used a rubber net so as not to hurt the fish.
