Nice video and good channel. I look forward to seeing more of your interviews and understand the way other cultures see the world. The most surprising answer was from the driver who said more women are working to support the family than men, and that's from his first hand account as he travels the country.
As an American with connections to the country, I think there’s a big opportunity to move US businesses from China to the Philippines…not to some other dictatorship country (Vietnam) nor to some country who we have no history or alliance (India, Malaysia, Indonesia) and not to a Narco state (Mexico). Hopefully we can see this occur and I hope it will produce more jobs and relieve the pressure on Filipino families.
The Philippines actually has a higher proportion of educated (with a college degree) women compared to men. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, "among those with college/academic degrees, females (56.1 percent) outnumbered males (43.9 percent)." The dropout rate among male students should be looked into as “there may be greater pressure on males to get jobs even before graduation.” Most families also tend to focus more on their daughter/s' education over their son/s'. Aside from that, the rise of radical feminism in the country has given the "already-disadvantaged" boys a harder time to cope with the societal problems.
because the men are expected to work and provide for their poor family so they drop out. you know that. it happens to women too of course but the man is more likely to work rather than get educated for obvious reasons
I don't think hardship can be boxed into genders such as a man or a woman. The hardship is different from being a single man or a woman, married man and a woman with kids, single parents, etc.. When married typically the burden was carried by the man, to provide for basic necessities, protect the future and security of the wife and kids. It is often a thankless effort. Single moms on the other hand must juggle to provide and do mother duties which is also hard.

Leonah Yosalina comes from a family of airline pilots. Both her dad and older sister are airline pilots for Philippine Airlines and Delta respectively. Her older brother just began his pilot training. She comes from a well known university here in the Philippines. I believe she's about to graduate from college this month.

Ang shallow ng mga sagot. In todays society, upbringing and backgrounds that would predict if your life is going to be hard. The dynamics between men’s physical strength and women’s nurturing nature should compliments.
Men have it harder, no doubt. More responbility, also society tend to have higher expectation for men to reach a certain standard of success. Whereas women, they don't need to earn a lot to do well in life, they can depend on men. Also society have lower standard for women, they only expect women to clean and cook which is easy. If a man choose to clean and cook, society will look down on them because the standard is so high for men, clean and cook is not good enough for men; they are pressure to climb higher to be successful thus more stress. That's why men in general die at a higher rate than women. Also suicide rate is higher on men than women. Also men have shorter life span compared to women, proven by science because men have to deal with more stress being the head of the family or leader.

man seems like only AJ have a grip of reality here. Ofcourse men have harder lives than women. It's a no brainer. Men carry more responsibilities, you have to provide for the family, put food on the table, and at the same time raise and discipline your kids and teach them what you know about life. You have to be smart, you have to be resourceful and to always be prepared. you have to make sure the family finances are in order. If somebody gets sick or have some problem, they come to the men. you have to be a friend to your wife, a role model to your kids. thats why most females prefer a well educated man than that of a man with lesser educational attainment. That is how society is structured even since the beginning of time. Men used to put their lives on the line hunting for prey so the family can eat.
