You will get a much faster, more capable iPad with longer software support, for the same price. Basically, you have the opportunity to trade in your old iPad for a new one!
I guess Apple will not allow an Ipad to only have 2 software updates. Apple is known for their products’ longevity. I think the 7th gen will get ipados 16 because apple will certainly optimize the software for the 7. And it has 3 GB RAM so I think it will still have atleast 2 or 3 more updates.
Since the iPad 7th and 8th gen have the same front and back quality. Just want to ask to those who have the 7th gen, is it enough for zoom meetings? Like does the front camera enough for you to at least give a clearer quality than an average laptop camera?

I have the 7 gen and it is not really good for gaming i have lags and sometimes it is very slow The A10 processor became old I will definitely upgrade because the processor is much better (A12) And next year i will upgrade for the i pad 9 gen ...

The camera quality is OKAY, it is good for zoom meetings, ms teams meetings, etc
my iPad 6 (2018) still capable to watching movie and social media. I don't think to upgrade, maybe 9 in next year
