When I look back over the past several months I cannot fail to be impressed at the transformation that has taken place. How you manage to work so quickly never fails to surprise me. Well done and may you and yours have a very Happy Christmas!
@@boblawrence5011 I’d like to say that these were all filmed weeks ago and currently am chilling out with a finished boat. Not the case - currently cutting some more floor tiles - watch tonight to see why
Morning young James. The advent calendar series is turning out to be a fantastic video series on The Narrowboat that James built 👍🏻 Great shoe cupboard idea 🤩
I just hope you are as pleased and satisfied with yourself as thousands of us around the globe are. Watching you build your home is an inspiration on so many levels. Well done, you! - Leigh
Unbelievable price for that live edge oak James. I remember getting one for a mantel piece which was much better price. Try EBay. The boat is looking really good with that pale green working well with the timber, Like to see the wooden slats in place sometime. Safe journey
🪵 wow that live edge is expensive. Still using the slates of pine will look great and you can always stain or wax to look more like the oak colour you prefer. The shoe cupboards are great and you can always screw hooks on the wall of the boat in the cupboards to hang your shoes, think you’d fit more in and they won’t topple out when you unclip doors. Love seeing the progression for the interior 👍🏻
Good work, resourcefully gathered material ….. simple yet brilliant final assembly. Bottom line… smart. 👍 Merry Christmas 🎄 to: Captain Jamer and his loving children. Happy Holidays and looking forward to your Yuletide Narrowboating. A special shout-out to “Meet the Parents” , ♥️ From Canada’s Eastern Seaboard 🇨🇦
You seem an ideal candidate to review a Jackery or similar electric power storage device. Bed extension idea coming along well, always good to have anything on a boat to have more than one use. Happy Xmas.
Even here in Canada, Live edge boards are EXPENSIVE!!!! I want a piece about 5' long or so ( probably pine or something - nothing expensive like Oak!) and I'm still looking at $400-$500! Can't figure it out, since Sawmills consider it SCRAP!
That’s it it’s not scrap anymore since EVERYONE makes live edge / resin dining tables of which 99% end up looking ghastly !! It’s that’s lot that have pushed the price up
You might want to shop around a bit more for live edge lumber, because that price seems ridiculous for the size board you would need. Unless inflation hit them really hard, that price should get you a 3 or 4 inch thick slab about 12-16 inches wide and 6 feet long, or a book-matched set of shorter boards.
You can also get a De Walt charger that plugs straight into a car cigarette lighter socket, no inverter needed. That might be a useful bit of kit given a lot of your boat is running on 12 volts.
Personally I would just have cut some smaller access holes in the front so it is easy to toss shoes and stuff inside. Taking off the front with magnets seems like too much trouble.
James are you aware your power tool brand make a cigarette lighter plug 12v charger? It takes less power draw than an inverter does to step 12v from car to 220-240 as you're changing the power from DC to AC then mains charges is converting it back to DC. Where as a cigarette plug charger is working from DC to DC and basically only converting milli amps to 10.9v (dc) or up to 18v (dc) from your 12v and wouldn't be much drain on your boat batteries. Cheers👍
To hell with a 450 pound piece of oak, if you want more wood, buy another guitar! 😉 On another subject I was wondering, could the front boards be double purposed? When you need a work surface, such as an ironing board, take the a board off the front, slide the slats out and put the board down on the slats and create a temporary work surface. Just a thought.
Don't forget to sort your deck corner out James your ribs will thank you for it bud.
It's all coming together now 👏

Thanks Terry - that’s very kind of you to say. You and yours have a great Christmas too
He’s not actually working quickly, he edits the video. Lol.

Morning young James. The advent calendar series is turning out to be a fantastic video series on The Narrowboat that James built 👍🏻 Great shoe cupboard idea 🤩
It's looking very smart James--the magnets are a great idea. I know you said you wanted to enlarge them, but I like the little round finger holes.
I just hope you are as pleased and satisfied with yourself as thousands of us around the globe are. Watching you build your home is an inspiration on so many levels. Well done, you! - Leigh
Thanks for that James, now I know it's magnets all the way for doors for my outside bow storage area.
So much easier to live with - my electrics cupboard is the same and it’s perfect
How clever are you ! The shoe storage very good idea, using magnets too. Wonderful job. You amaze me all the time.
That’s kind of you Jan
Hope you’re well
I LOVE the intros James. They're such a great introduction .
Cheers pal, running out of doors to open though

@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt the funniest was the back of the Dagenham dustbin still chuckling about that one when your sloe patrol sign fell off 😂

Single shoes, James can be placed atop each other so you get more on the shelf .
I’m amazed at all the jobs you’re tackling - it’s all really coming together!
Very nice, magnets are wonderfull.neodinium are my favorites, lots of room for shelving and more shoes in there.
Oh yeah they’re decent magnets they are

Thanks Jackie - the boards aren’t too far off the colouring of the oak - let’s see what it looks like once it’s all done
Happy Xmas James, I suspect this will be a very happy and satisfying one as well, well done buddy 👍

You can use that void behind that as vertical shoe storage by adding some wire shoe holder thingies.
And I noticed you plan on that after watching the rest of your vlog!
You could stain the slats oak.
5star boat next to a 5star hotel.. Happy days😂👍
Another fine Day of constructing Young James. Top Work :-)
Great vid like usual mate keep going !!
Yesterday evening there was plenty of space along the Grove opposite the golf course! My local stretch down towards cassiobury. 👍🏼

I like the magnetic catch idea.
Looking good, you have a good one over there James, Merry Christmas & happy holidays. Cheers
Well done on the shoe storage area. Enjoy. Keith.
your woodwork has got loads better mate.well done
Cheers geez - the trick is not to zoom in too close !!
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt lol it does look better even from afar. bed slats looked nice too
Been waiting all night to pounce.
Off to Leighton Buzzard in the morn to look at a project boat.
Next channel coming soon, 😂
Great news - let me know how it goes - I’ll watch this space 🤣

I’ll shop about but it’s pricey stuff
Those short bit of wood will the part James against $400, it's not the QEII quite yet lol.
A great idea using magnets .
Works a treat
Don't I vaguely remember someone gifting you a mini circular saw tool? Of course I assume it would need shore power perhaps? Cheers.
Yep I have it right here. Just can’t plug it into anything
good job keep up the good vid on the cut thanks lee
Thumbs up from me.
Cheers boss
The top will look good. You might think about. Over hanging about 1" and rounding the 3 corners.
Oh yeah I’m definitely thinking of that, actually I’m thinking of very little else but that. Cheers

It’s really no trouble - besides, my shoes will most likely stay in the dinette floor so I’ll probably never use it anyway

Cracked it 👍🏼
James, how wide and long is the oak you require?
James saw some live edge shelves on eBay which would be ideal for your needs £15 each!
@The Narrowboat That James Built why not paint it the same colour as the wall until you can change the top.

The biggest mistake made IMO is not preparing for future by not putting batteries in cabin.
To source some more power you need to get on to those Jackery people who are handing our power units for review.
👍👌🇨🇦❤️
