- Everly was born with congenital cataracts in both eyes. After 4 surgeries, she got new glasses and can now finally see her parents clearly!

Hello! I’m Everly’s mom Melissa! What a long journey it’s been. She was diagnosed with congenital cataracts by her pediatrician at 3 months and we were sent to U of M. She had her 1st surgery to remove her cataracts and replace them with IOL lenses at 11 months. She was 1 when she got her 1st pair of glasses. She is six now and doing wonderful! She has had 5 total surgeries, patching, 2 pairs glasses, eye drops and all that fun stuff but she is a fighter! She was wearing her Batgirl outfit because it was my birthday and I love Batman. Needless to say it was the best birthday ever!!! Thanks so much for sending your love and kind words. Her dad and I are so proud of her. 🥰🥰🥰
Bless you for sharing this video and your little girl. Very encouraging for parents in a similar situation. My nephew got his new blue glasses this spring. He has done great with them. He keeps them on.

SHE IS BEAUTIFUL, LOVE FROM WALES.
My daughter is very farsighted; we found out when she was 2-3 years old. I'll never forget the day her glasses came in. We were playing in the snow, and I opened the box and put them on her and she gasped and said "Mommy, you're so big!" She stood so still and just took everything in. I cried. It opens the world up for them when they can finally see clearly.

I’m a 35 year old combat vet with a bad attitude and a severe violent streak. Watching that little girl giggle in excitement cut through my soul. So sweet!!!! I teared up and felt my heart swell a bit.

because people are mean, hiding behind their laptops, cowards, best wishes for your family...i work ar a children's hospital, and my grandson has medical challenges still so i understand when you say your journey. children like your daughter are sweet, but fighters, i tell people if they think they are having things not go right, visit a children's hospital, you'll be humbled to be real about your problems

I really wanted to give this a 'thumbs up' but her parents fixation on her appearance was disturbing. The girl was seeing things she had never seen before- and the father in particular kept emphasising her looks. Can't a girl experience a whole new world without it having to be about her appearance? :( The message is 'you looking beautiful is important for every occasion' and 'a huge part of what we value and love about you is the beauty of your appearance'. This message projected into the future gets processed by a child as, 'I must look beautiful at all times or I won't be lovable.' 'And looking beautiful is more important than experiencing life.' That's why I can't give it thumbs up.
Having both parents present and gently validating her experiences of new vision was heart warming, and obviously meant a lot to the girl. For that alone I would've given 10 thumbs ups! But.. :(
Also, maybe some people thought that a girl in batman gear (considered boy stuff) and tutu (girl stuff) indicated 'Radical far left' and parents pushing their unhealthy perverted gender agenda on a toddler. Just a sad guess. My kid didnt see why gender specific clothes and colours were a thing, and other people, adults in particular, didn't like that. That's why it springs to mind. So much emphasis on looks starting young. :(

@@ckspernicious4723 That is a good question we both may have to research. 🙂 My 'guess', would be they know all parts of the eye so well with their equipment, they can see what is wrong, and to what extent. They can probably also judge by studying when she reaches for something, or, if she notices things they put in front of her and if, and how, she grabs for it by the distance to see it, etc. Even a baby can follow with their eyes after they are a bit older and reach for something. You can tell by her priceless and precious reaction, they got hers right on the money. Praise God.
What do they use to measure? This is fascinating.

Speaking from a very nearsighted person, a person will never understand how it feels to get your first pair of glasses. The baby has just entered into an entirely different world. She made me smile so much!!!❤
It's moments like this that keep me humble. To see a baby be so appreciative at the things that most of us take 4 granted. How precious r our children.

One reason for disliking it is that it's disability porn, and it's nonconsensual. The kid is too young to consent to millions of people watching her at her most vulnerable. That abled people enjoy it is irrelevant.

I was that child 60 years ago. I was born with severe visual impairment and got my first glasses when I was one year old.
These shitty parents have posted what is likely the most personally life changing moment for their disabled child and posted it at RUclips to entertain strangers while their child is still too young to consent to it.
That's called disability porn. When videos of disabled people who didn't consent to having video of them posted are posted for the enjoyment of abled people.
It's not about me "finding happiness," it's about that child's most personal things being used to entertain strangers.

Brought me to tears. Reminded me of my daughter when she first got her glasses. She was born with such a bad case of lazy eye she was nearly blind in both eyes. 2 surgeries, therapy and glasses and she can see so much better. That was 20 years ago! Thank you for sharing!
