Yeah its a shame really, if I had it my way, superman and batman would be the leaders of the entire thing each of them would get 3-6 solo movies, cameos in a few movies, would have done 4 justice league movies each with there own threats superman would have died in the 3rd one then a few years later brought back in the 4th movie, wonder woman and cyborg would have had their own tv shows, the flash would have 2 solo movies and 1 multiverse movie where in the first one it takes him to a different reality where it would set up the next movie being a justice league vs injustice movie which would have had previous actors from other DC movies come back and help fight which would then leed into the 2nd flash movie that would restore everything
They were going to make a man of steel trilogy and man of steel 2 was meant the have brainiac as the bad guy but the studio interfered and changed everything to what we got now

This movie is a MASTERPIECE that was ahead of it’s time and has aged like fine wine 🍷
It's good, but masterpiece? LMFAO, not even close. Just because horse shit subjectively smells better than cow shit doesn't make horse shit better than cow shit. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but you wouldn't know a masterpiece if it clocked you upside the skull.

I am convinced that there are people who are just haters who don't like this movie. It's absolutely incredible.
Nah it’s great visual storytelling but it’s not a direct or even more humanize version of the character. Good alien invasion movie, but the main character was lacking his comic book personality.
@@callmejacob3234 Yeah. I've been a Superman fan my whole life & I don't know who this is, but it's not superman. I'm confused why they even needed to use the Superman IP. Honestly it's not even a very good film over all. It's got plot holes, forgettable scenes & it's got the generic modern "so gritty" vibe that makes it devoid of personality or heroism & makes it cynical & drab.
This movie is effing awesome.
It's better than the rest of the dc movies, and I know there are people who liked those movies too, everybody has their individual and collective opinion that's how it is.

That's because you really don't know the definition of the word. Just because it's better than everything else DC has released in the last 20 years, doesn't make it a masterpiece, it just makes it a better movie than the schlock you're used to.
There actually is a Superman movie where he is evil. It's called Brightburn and it's rated R. You should definitely check it out!

The movie looked like alternate Superman origin but there is a reason why it was simply called Brightburn. It has nothing to do with DC.
If it were not for the Kents this story could have been much much darker. I always thought that Johnathan and Martha are the unsung heroes of this story.

The Kent's are bad influences, Superman is just flat out boring, there's no duality between Clark Kent and Superman, and Clark has zero chemistry with Lois. Christopher Reeve's Superman had more personality than Henry's. That's why people love Reeve's version. He was so charismatic and he was so likable. That's what's missing in the Snyder version. Snyder should've never been involved with DC. That dude doesn't understand how Batman and Superman work. Steven Spielberg should direct a Superman film he's the perfect guy for the job.

This movie is underrated AF.
I love this film. It's one of my favorite versions of Superman. I like that the film immediately throws him into the deep end and doesn't make it easy.
In many Superman origin stories, it's pretty much that he discovers his powers, is encouraged by his parents to save people, his father dies (or remains alive in some versions), he goes to Metropolis, sees some kind of danger like a falling plane or a falling person, easily catches it, the public is in awe of him, he gives an interview with Lois Lane, everyone trusts him immediately, then Lex Luthor comes up with a scheme to take him down, Superman fights whatever robot or disaster Luthor causes with some difficulty, and then is embraced as a hero.
Here, Clark is just barely getting to know his powers before he's immediately thrown into a full-on alien invasion and has to fight for his life against beings just as powerful and way more skilled. His premiere to mankind isn't a flashy impressive airplane save, but a messy, destructive, and costly battle that divides him in the eyes of people on Earth, creating seeds of distrust that he must navigate and repair. His fight with Zod is mournful thing as the last survivors of Krypton battle to the bitter end with Clark having to violate a key rule for himself in order to end it.
But through it all he remains determined to use his powers for good and keep his adopted home safe. It was a great introduction for the character. For me it's inspiring because Clark faces a great deal of darkness both from the world and even from within at times, but he remains true to his purpose and who he is, no matter what.

Favorite scenes in man of steel are the last scene with Clark’s dad watching him in the yard with Hans zimmers wonderful theme and also the scene where Superman flies up to stop the ship from terraforming the planet. It’s that yell from Superman, so powerful 🔥

The DCU did itself a major injustice by getting rid of Henry Cavill, and not producing another man of steel movie. This movie doesn’t get the credit it deserves, and Cavill is most definitely the best Superman we’ve had to date.
You truly need to check out the uncut version of Batman versus Superman next. Another banger for sure.
Better than Reeves? Not a day in hell until it freezes over will Cavill be better than Reeves in that role. Some actors were made to play the role, and they don't need CGI lips to prove they're right for the job.
The late, great Mr. Reeve will always be 'My' Superman. (R.I.P. good Sir!).
However. THIS remake, with the amazingly handsome,,, uh,,, I meant, 'Talented' Mr. Cavil? Absolutely wonderful, and I respect how they honored the story/origins, while still presenting some new material! Total 'Thumbs UP' movie imho!

"I get that this is superman's dad" is something I've never said about the character of Jor-El until I saw this movie. The guy broke every law and committed every taboo and heresy to save his people and protect his son. He taught himself martial arts (to Zodd's surprise and even earning his admiration). He even practically came back from the dead to save the world that Clark called home because he's a motherfucker that knew what's right. Jor is 100% is a beast in this flick.
Batman is DC’s cash cow and to me has much better villains, better stories and just overall character development, but when Superman is done right there’s very few superheroes who’d I’d watch on the big screen in all their glory.
I’ve seen a few in my opinion I feel Superman is superior.

Superior in what way? That’s a vague statement. If you’re talking physical strength, then of course lol. But if we are talking numbers, critical success, media etc - Batman clears. Hence why they will give us some Batman content literally every other year.
You don’t have to be a fan of Batman, he’s DC’s cash cow regardless of who your favourite is. His movies are better, his TV series, his games etc.

@@makwabear4078 Being the cash cow is irrelevant to how good a character and their stories are. Going by that logic, Superman would still be better overall than Batman since he was the cashcow for 50 years (1930s to 1980s).

This film got the love it deserved like ten years after its release
I know many people hate on Superman for being too overpowered, but I love his struggle. As Clark Kent, he has to come to grips with the fact that he will never be a human. He will never be one of the people he cares so much for. Despite all of that, he will give his life to protect them. To me that makes his character so compelling.

I really enjoyed your reaction to Superman: Man of Steel. Your reaction was honest and funny. I saw this film when it came out and could not understand all the negative rubbish. I don't know what they were looking at; it is a great film.
If you continue the syderverse of movies, make shure you watch the synder cut of justice league and the ultimate edition of batman vs superman, there the better cuts but clock in at 4 hrs and 3 hrs both are fun watches

People always complain about how Superman is boring but haven't really actually read a good Superman comic. Sure he hasn't really been portrayed well in live action but personally I liked this version. He's coming into himself, finding out who he is and what he can do and naturally just like any human we go through stuff so that's why he comes off as so "depressing and dark" . Sadly he wasn't really able to transition into that character we all see Superman to be, a symbol of hope. I like Batman too but imo he's overrated and over saturated and I've been reading comics for at least 28 years.

Very few things ever created are considered masterpieces, but those which are will endure for hundreds of years with no equal. DaVinci' Sistine Chappell, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Jackson's Lord of the Rings.

The reason Superman is a great character is that he could have anything; he could rule, but instead of ruling, he serves the people. It's always inspiring when the strong lead in a humble way. If you look at every other superhero, they are generally more flawed, less noble, and less pure.
Superman's power is nearly unparalleled, yet despite his vast abilities, he lives one of the most humble lives. He is the greatest DC hero because he embodies selflessness and humility. The reason Superman never kills humans is tied to his unwavering moral code.
It's hard to get it right, but this one is good. I still prefer the real Superman movies. Christopher Reeve was more interesting as Clark. While I like Henry, he is more one-note. I would like to see Henry do something like Conan.
But regardless, the point is that Superman is great because he is like a monk, living humbly despite the fact that he could throw punches so fast that he starts smashing atoms together in the air, causing the Earth's entire atmosphere to combust. Or he could just zip to 90% of the speed of light and run into the Earth, with the blast destroying the Milky Way. Yet Superman skips all that to help save kittens for little children or to save humanity at his own expense.
This is such an underrated film I absolutely love this movie . It’s not my Superman (mine will always be Christoper Reeve ) but Henry Cavill did an awesome job

11:56 in the flashpoint paradox ,Superman’s ship crashed in metropolis not at the Kent farm,the government lied and said it was a meteor,they experimented on Superman to the point where he is an anorexic shell scared of humans,krypto the super dog was killed and his dna was used to try to breed monsters for war but luckily all failed,in another story he lands in Soviet Russia and becomes dictator after Stalin ,in another he is found by Mexican immigrants and he is raised to be honorable but to be a hard shell .so depending on who raises him they mold wether he is an honorable man or a homelander

Yeah. I'll never understand the hate of this movie. I really like how it incorporates elements of Superman II. Of all D.C. movies, it's No.2 to me behind The Dark Knight .

The key Zod uses in the ship to revoke Jor-El’s control is his own key, it has his logo/symbol so it’s a different one.
The original DCEU aka SnyderVerse is fucking epic, this universe and its movies aren’t dark, they are more realistic or at least grounded than other CBMS that’s why people think it is dark cause it mirrors our world, our society, our emotions, fears, beliefs and our humanity perfectly, it takes the story with seriousness and that’s where some specific people had problems with it, while others were making CBMS with a lighter tone and with humor in them to reach more audiences DC was doing its own thing, a more realistic, grounded and emotional take until they got rid of Snyder in 2017, and since then they have failed in everything.
I hope you continue the saga, just in case the SnyderVerse so far is only 5 movies starting with Man of Steel, the sequel is Batman V Superman Ultimate Cut, make sure you watch the Ultimate Cut, then Suicide Squad 2016 Extended Cut, after the biased critical reception BvS received WB and Jeoff John’s started to reshot everything and changing tones, this suicide squad has a director’s cut with the original tone and stuff but haven’t been released so you will have to watch for now this version, after Suicide Squad 2016 the next one is Wonder Woman 2017 and the last one (let’s hope for now) is Zack Snyders Justice League 2021, don’t ever watch Justice League 2017 that movie is a fucking disgrace not only because it is bad really bad but for what it represents and it should have never existed, once you finish the Snyderverse saga you can watch Aquaman 2017 wich is kind of the next one in the list but it is not considered part of the SnyderVerse, Snyder himself said it, but it could fit so it doesn’t hurt to watch as if it is part of it while knowing it’s not, it is not that disconnected from the SnyderVerse that’s why but it is still a compromised story and has some in-congruencies, after that one everything got disconnected, a lot of in-congruencies, bad and a wasted potential, I saw like two after Aquaman (not in cinemas of course )and then stopped caring and watching what they were doing, WB fucked it up, with the years it just got worst, plus WB behavior and decisions trough the years… not worth it at all, but watching those that’s up to you of course. I hope you enjoy the rest of the SnyderVerse!

Man of Steel is the best Super Man film and one of my favourite films and have watched it countless times, as for Batman I only got half way through and that was a struggle.
I see batman superman less like rivals and more like brothers. They are both single children and people know single kids that get new siblings or step brothers fight... in the comics during their downtime you see the sibling dynamic.
superman returns is one of my fav movies with the character. some people hate on it but i dig it

The reason why Krypton exploded was because
they carelessly was mining their planet's core, accelerating a forthcoming seismic implosion.
They overused their natural resources to the point of exhaustion and it couldn’t handle it anymore.
Also keep in mind as explained in the film, when Kryptonians such as Superman and Zod are away from a yellow sun, their powers are weakened and they’re no different humans and can be killed. With that being said, they can still possess skills in combat, have better technology and their IQ levels are similar or much higher than humans. With their abilities, they’re almost invisible and very few beings can match them.
You said imagine if Superman was bad…everyone needs to tell Devin about the movie Brightburn.

After you finish the DCEU movies, you should check out the movie Brightburn. It’s a fun watch and it’s basically about if Superman turned evil.

Krypton's core was unstable. The instability is known as kryptonite. A deadly radiation harmful to the planet and to the Kryptonian people. But rather insignificant to humans in terms of radiation danger. Anyway, this led to the destruction of Krypton. -OG

3:45 Interestingly, the matrix stole the pods from Superman. They came from Superman comics in the 1980s from John Byrne and the Matrix ripped it off but no one knows that unless they read those old comics.
I love this Superman. Henry Cavill was ripped for this. They say faster than a speeding bullet, 1 mile every 2 seconds :)
So what happened for it to be destroyed was mentioned but in a quick line. They had been mining at the core and drawing resources from it. It became unstable and collapsed within itself.

Zod is actually a pretty tragic character. He literally was born and raised to protect his people. In his mind it was all necessary because its all he knew. He was the embodiment of the issues with krypton. He had no choice in who he was.

@Devin G my favorite heroes Xmen aside which are my favorite team and family were always Spiderman, Captain America, Thor, and Batman and Superman all heroes with a moral code they NEVER cross. The score in this film is lit, Cavill is the best actor for this not named Christopher Reeves. I loved the animated Superman series too it was right after Batman the animated adventures I watched both religiously... It is a shame Dc dropped the ball and now is seeking a new actor for Superman ( think they hired a new actor now. Still hope you seek out Xmen 97 :)

It wasn't New York. It was Metropolis. I think , in the DC comics, Gotham is kind of an alegory for New York.

That was one thing I didn’t get about Man of Steel. If Krypton was dying anyway, what was the use of punishing Zod and co. like that? Although, what would be the point of the movie if the villains were already dead when Krypton exploded?
Kryptonians can't fly or have super powers on Krypton because of their red sun. Earth has a yellow sun 🌞. Superman soaks it's radiation like a sponge for super energy. That's why he's like a god to those on Earth. -OG

They did come out with a movie that kind of depicted what it would be like if young superman went down the dark path. It's call Brightburn.
