❤FTR, you are the most creative farmer/rancher on u-tube. Your skills are amazing. You could build a space ship. You know the saying " when pigs fly "? You could make that happen, I swear ! It's always a pleasure to watch you, I personaly wish your video's were longer.🏆🥇

It’s always nice to see the animals especially Buddy! The mascot or ambassador of FTR. The pig feeder looks great excited to see it painted. You’ve said you don’t like to paint but painting the feeder will protect it as you know plus it will make it look nice. Calli looks happy!

My 2 cents on the pig feeder is that you should mark it with your cattle brand after you paint it. It’d be cool to have the LA that’s on your barn and cattle on the feeder as well.

I would suggest that you put a pad on each leg, first to keep them from sinking into the ground, second each should have a hole in them to be staked down to prevent movement and tipped over by 250-300 lb hogs ( been there experienced that)

    Another great video.
I am surprised at the 90-day breeding season, leaving the bull with the herd for this long. This just extends the calving season making it less manageable. A 60-65 day breeding season will allow for up to 3 menstrual cycles for healthy mother cows, if they aren't bred in that window, then they need to be on the cull list. Secondly, a 60-day calving season also leads to a more uniform calf crop and consistency within the cows as to focusing on those that reproduce within a specific window of time. Fertility is the single most important trait in any herd and that is where majority of producers focus first to maintain profitability and productivity.

Having livestock that you've developed a measure of trust with has many payoffs. Especially if you work so often around them on your own like Tyler does. It can't be so friendly that they don't respect you. But it should never be a fear based relationship. They live in a herd and have excellent memory of how others treat them. The last thing you want is a panic reaction that sets off animals that size, to fight or flight mode. From my days involved in horse racing, people that I witnessed being hurt the worst, was either due to a sudden fear reaction or "payback". They will bide their time with individuals who mistreat or torment them: and get their licks in when that person is looking the other way.

  • @idaholawnsprinkler2252

Tyler you need to put some sort of a platform on the legs so it won’t sink when fully loaded otherwise wise all the weight is going to be under the feeder and it may rust faster. Thanks
