This film was released in 1948. Listen to the dialogue and check out the beautiful girl. This movie is as fresh and fun today and proof that a hot woman is timeless.
Flynn seems a bit bored in this role and his moral was knocked by bad reviews of his previous film early in production. I know he had a final falling out with Michael Curtiz, but Curtiz really needed to direct this film. He always got the best out of Flynn. I know 'T.A.O.D.J' was made after WWII and audiences were supposed to be more cyncial, but the tongue in cheek style and the type of character Flynn was playing don't really result in a rousing enough story.
You should read "Viveka Viveca" the memoir of Viveca Lindfors, who co-starred with Flynn in this film. She has lots of insightful things to say about Errol Flynn at this point in his life and career. I've also read that he got bad reviews for his novel, "Showdown," published while he was making this film, and this affected his attitude about TAODJ. You're right about him needing Michael Curtiz as director in this. And about post WWII cynicism of audiences. This film is a sometimes charming anachronism, better suited to the 1930's. Sadly, the Flynn of "The Sea Hawk" at his full power in 1941, has devolved seven years later into a man who seems bored with everything.
My all time favourite actor! Beautiful man❤
I loved this movie.
error flynn at his best !!! nice movie !!
I liked the movie&Flynn. I'm quite satisfied with his performance, despite any dissenting viewpoints some may have.

If this scene is any evidence, this movie was terrible, and the female lead devoid of any agency.
His advice might've save their marriage, he made a point, she probably feel unappreciated lol
