GEEZ MAN!!! WHY don't you show how to remove the plug from the back of the switch. I can't get the plug off on the truck that I am working on. BTW, there is a special tool used to remove the Bezels on the switch, etc.

it helps if yo lightly tap the screwdrivrer with a light hammer...makes it tight and is less awkward....thanks for the vid

They actually make an ignition bezel tool that works on fords and some Chevy’s so you don’t scratch/ gouge the dash or the bezel.
The bezel is available for the bump side but it’s like $60!!
Yeah, I couldn’t find it online. The Ford dealership had one I could order for too much money lol.
What about if there is no key to turn it back. That's why I'm replacing mine.
The key is used as leverage once u push the spring down with a pin
Same issue…No key. Can’t get it to turn to push the pin down. Any idea?
@joethepro7050 I ended up having to drill mine out. I started with a small bit in the center, going the same depth as my new lock cylinder, then kept doing it with bigger bits until it came out. I was nervous but it worked. I was able to twist it loose from the lock ring from behind then put new cylinder with key in it and re install. I followed other steps from videos with key for the rest.
I try to change mine and it doesn’t go all the way and goes in tight. Any trick or something I should now before I break the damn thing. Than You!!!
Which part? The plug, the spring pin? The twisting left?
@@FordF100World the ignition lock cylinder( the one to with the key)wont go all the way into the ignition starter switch. I lost my key so I have to buy both but no matter what I do it doesn’t go all the way as the video
Ohhh got you. no key so it won’t turn to the left at all when you push the pin in the hole?
@@FordF100World Buy both parts with new keys but it doesn’t go all the way thru the end of the cylinder when I insert them.

Did that fix your problem? Also what was your problem? I’m fighting multiple problems right now but think i almost got it figured out with a new ignition switch coming this week.
I forget the exact problem or issues but it ended up being my starter solenoid.
I remember looking at the wiring diagrams and focusing on the symptoms of what problems I was having and thinking there’s no way that it is the starter solenoid but I went to head and changed it and it fixed the problem.
@@FordF100World gotcha. I had battery cables heating up so poor grounds and a bad solenoid keeping the starter engaged. So replaced all cables and solenoid. Now it still drains the battery overnight so i think i have a parasitic drain from the ignition switch. Also just replaced the voltage regulator. Will test tonight if the truck starts since i just changed the regulator last night and it fired right up. The regulator could have gotten fried when all the cables got really hot.
Awesome yeah while reading the issues you’re having. I was thinking of the voltage regulator so I’m glad you changed that to. I hope this all fixes your problem.

I just started working on my late grandpa’s 67 f100 240. Put in a new battery and lock cylinder and starter relay. When I turn the key I only get a loud clunking sound from the relay, as if the relay is engaging but that’s all I get. No action from the starter. Any ideas guys?
Re check the groups to the block, body and make sure the relay is mounted. but it sounds simple like a low battery. If u think the starter is old and bad take a rubber mallet and give it a few hits. Good luck
I replaced the starter and selinoid on 79 and still clunked like yours. What was your solution??
@@algburek8450 it ended up being my starter. I had it bench tested before posting this and it spun and kicked out. But it turned out to have a short or something in the wiring because it wouldn’t engage 99% of the time. After replacing the starter with a refurbished one and installing a new battery it worked like a charm. Good luck!
