I don't have moles, but I have everything else. I cover all my bulbs with chickenwire and it protects my bulbs from critters and me in the spring. Thank you Simon!
I grew tulips in pots this year and haven't lifted them, realistically whats the likelihood of them coming back next spring? , bearing in mind that I was feeding them with tomato feed weekly throughout the growing season and let the foliage die back naturally.
It will depend on the cold hardiness of the cultivar you've purchased. To be on the safe side I would bring them into a dry, cold but frost free environment for winter. Bring them out and water them once the cold weather breaks in the spring or as soon as new growth appears. Simon
