As a Hong Konger, thanks so much for making this video. It’s so complicated to be a Hong Kong fan rn - I love this place so much but it’s almost as if the officials/ government don’t want us to support our own team, not to mention the lack of support and funding invested into footballs/ sports development

A famous Hong Kong vs China match that is often neglected in these videos other than the 519 incident and the 2018 qualifiers -- in the 2006 WC qualifiers, China needed to beat Hong Kong by 8 goals to qualify. They won 7-0 only, and our goalkeeper Fan Chun Yip saved a penalty as well as made multiple massive saves to keep China just short of the required 8.
As a Hong Konger I can only continue to hope. With the Asian games just being completed and us getting to the semi's I can only hope that we will get the funding we need to actually push Hong Kong football back up. Because as fans we love our team so much, it's the last place we can funnel our nationalism. We are afraid of losing our sense of identity. Our city is small and I myself have friends in around the national team set up from the U16 teams to the mens team. We all just love football, the 2023 Asian Games brought the fire that we used to have pre covid and our hope has been revitalised with younger players like Tim Chow and Micheal Udebuluzor I really hope we give football one last push before Hong Kong Football ceases to exist and it's echoed through each stadium with the famous chant 'We are Hong Kong' Thank you giving a voice to those who lost it Tifo. 繼續寫歷史
Thank you Tifo for sharing our story! Just as the U23 team reached the semi finals in the Asian Games too, the best result we had in history. They may change our badge but will never change our hearts! GTHK!
Thank you Tifo, just glad that people are paying attention to us and sharing our stories It really is a shame that the people on the pitch keep putting in promising work and results, but off the pitch they gets no support and funding, shows the state of this government.
i attended a game during 2019 , it was unforgettable. 1) there was nearly no public transport to get to HK island , i need to take a ferry to go there since there was protest in central the day before 2)we held a minute of silent for a kid who died during a protest . 3) the game ended at 10pm , we left the stadium and there was no buses at all . luckily there was a tram and we got to the ferry terminal at last, glory to hong kong !
As the son of someone who emigrated from Hong Kong to the UK, this breaks my heart to watch. I have never had the chance to watch the HK national team play
indeed it's so dangerous. one moment you carelessly showed support in a way that ruling regime isn't happy with, the next moment the gestapos are right there inside the stadium to arrest you. these days it's truly horrible.
What they said about police standing about mong kok stadium is true, but thats not all they have cameras set up during the anthem to find the people who didnt sing or stand up
yep. because if "respect" and "support" is not shown visibly, the chinese government will treat it as sedition and an attempt of secession of state. "only" 3 yrs in prison if one is lucky, being beaten up and abused by full-geared gestapos before that if one is less lucky.
@@elasticoxiI think not standing up is fine because I myself only stand when opponents’ national anthem is being played and nobody ever arrest me for this. The thing is they use the camera and stare at the fan zone all the time even before during and after the National anthem. What a shame
