I am extremely surprised that such an old factory making such simple products in small batches and at what must be very low profit margins has survived in the age of mass Chinese manufacturing. If I worked in this facility I would be very worried for my heath; the liquid plasticizer seen being poured at the beginning is almost certainly bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) which is a strong endocrine disruptor and likely carcinogen. The fine PVC powder being blown everywhere is also not great for a number of reasons.
Workers were mostly elderly and are no different from westerners. A can do attitude and a sense of ownership and satisfaction. China has no OH&S but i bet your house is chok full of Uyghur merch.
I've done a pretty limited amount of research, but from my understanding vinyl chloride is used to make pvc. Vinyl chloride is a colorless and odorless gas that is a carcinogen and I would think the workers here are being exposed to it
I don’t think anything has been updated in that factory since it was built, probably in the 40s or 50s. Repair and cleaning appear to be things they don’t waste much money on.
A little talcum powder keeps the balls from sticking together, not to the package. I thought the air valve was going to be a squeaker for a dog toy, but it was an inflation valve! The process of revolving the mold to get a hollow product is used for many objects, including kayaks, is an better way of doing it, than trying to inflate it like glass blowing lamps or bottles. The little factory puts out quite a nice product, and I bet it keeps the people employed and earning a future!
Yes, finish off your industry completely by investing money not in modern production, but in medieval crap. To produce similar goods in such conditions is simply to destroy a lot of resources. If you want to support small business, then let it be something truly unique and innovative, and not cheap balls for pennies. Well, or be prepared to pay 1/10 of your salary for each toy for your child.
Fun fact: if your balls suddenly change colors you should consult a doctor. (Also, the manufacturing process shown here was way more interesting than I thought it would be!)
1:33 no PPE and plastic dust everywhere. Not something i thought i would see in developed Japan. 10:09 And the special powder is the raw plastic from the bag earlier. The source is i work with plastics. Not sure how safe it is to be handled by kids.
@keramzitJo So we should provide for some kind of old people, spending the resources of humanity on this, instead of development and progress? No, as for me - let them either live out their lives as poor people, or change with the world. If a car works better than a horse-drawn cart, you throw away the cart and buy a car. It is absolutely normal that some industries should be closed and destroyed, since they are outdated, and their workers must learn new professions.

the lack of proper PPE is just wild
it is interesting to hear from someone with a chemical backround .

The Japanese aren't pansies like Westerners.
Absolutely fascinating.......so cool to see the complete process :)
Un grand merci pour la vidéo!
Japanese do such beautiful work and have such a great eye for detail.
That entire process seems... unoptimized.

The brush seems to like it here 3:40 :)

Loved to see the process! No music next time please?
its so weird how japan makes all the robots for factories, but they do it all by hand.
The last process packaging she almost played with the balls😂😂
Nhà máy sản xuất bóng màu Nhật Bản rất tuyệt vời. Họ pha chế độc đáo 🇯🇵👍.
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Fun fact: if your balls suddenly change colors you should consult a doctor. (Also, the manufacturing process shown here was way more interesting than I thought it would be!)
That was interesting, but with all of the processes and hand work involved, how on earth can it be economically viable?
What a load of balls.
Are these the coloured balls you see holding morning chains in water?
Japanese people do everything the hard and time-consuming way 🤣.
i love 日本人 🤍
I was expecting a bounce test at the end.
7:12 tell me you know nothing about welding without telling me you know nothing about welding…😮

Should be talc, but you're likely right.

Any more plastic?
Terrifying, if the dust doesn’t get you either the plasticiser or mincer will … very nice balls though
what‘s with this oompa loompa music, this isn’t charlie and the chocolate factory lol
What? no mask being worn while all the plastic powder is floating in the air! Bad health practice !!!
That place looks like it's held together with rust and masking tape.
looks like time to visit the automatic machinery engineer and automate some of that hand labor.

Reminds me of cake batter.
Just what we need: more plastic in our environment, how lovely!
