Honestly, you don't need much to start on the steam market. If you've got a bit of ref or just some spare weapons you don't want you can sell em on scrap.tf. they sell weapon skins for pretty cheap, just A)- remember to convert ref to USD when you go to make decisions, and B)- remember that steam tax exists
What I actually liked to do was to look for spelled killstreak weapons and actually REMOVE the killstreaker on it to re-sell it for more. This worked pretty well for popular items like the Scattergun and Rocket Launcher.
@@BigBroccoli_ Because sometimes people list the item for cheaper with the killstreaker attatched and if you were to remove it you now have a non-killstreak item, which you can list for a higher price. Now why is this? Well, I'm certainly no expert but I think it's just people not paying attention to all the variations of items and just looking at the stock or strange version, which makes those more popular, bumping the price up.
@BushManSamuel spelled items used to drop during 2010 (i think) on Halloween, but people started finding ways to abuse it and valve decided to remove spells from dropping, so they’re pretty rare
ULTIMATE TIP: Patience and the fact you can place up to 10x value in buy orders in terms of steam wallet (10 euro is 100 in buy orders not oh i can buy a 100euro item)
Very helpful advice, might take some of these tips straight to SCM. Over the holidays while people were quickselling keys I made a handy little 5 dollar profit flipping those, and in a week or so I'll be looking for a scheme like this to reinvest those keys into something I know will sell.
i for a good second there when reading the description thought when you wrote "SCM" i thought you meant "scam" not "steam community market" why am i like this
there's no way a factory new version of a gun sells more for the factory new version of the warpaint.. nobody who knows what warpaints are, the warpaint should always be more. People who sell the Warpaints for cheaper are just dumb
Same reason I always sell warpaint rather than using them if they are tradable, why use a key worth wp for a gun that will be worth 10 ref when used when I can sell it and buy the painted gun I want
i 100% agree with this, when im buying skins, i check if the actual warpaint is cheaper than the price the other person wants. I get really annoyed when someone is offering me a skinned rescue ranger for 10ref, and the actual warpaint is 5 ref, and a skinned rescue ranger would be 1/5 of the warpaints cost
i actually bought a helldriver paint for like £12 and managed to get £20 back from creating a rocket launcher . i think it took about 32 days to sell. but disregarding time it actually made profit. thanks for the advice.
I've known it to be worse to use a war paint and then toss on random kits and crap to try to sell for more. This is the first time I've seen someone say its a good thing to do
Hey if my buy order is never the highest buy order, I'll never end up buying the item will I? I see your buy orders are not the highest so you will obviously not end up with the items. I just dont understand how a sale on an item's history can be so much lower than the current buy orders.
I just got a strange spider season war paint I put it on a degreaser and I'm gonna get it to a new rank tonight I'm so excited and I got a paint for a hat which I am gonna trade

Hey squ1rrelly I unboxed a strange factory new smissmas spy crabs warpaint and a unusual flip taunt with apotheosis effect how much do you think they are ?
A question about selling Killstreak weapons on the market. I have a couple of Strange Apoco-Fists. I got a Professional Killstreak Apoco-Fists Kit to add to a Strange Apoco-Fists. When I was going to add it; it said it would make it Untradable, and Unmarketable. But why? Do they have to be non-Strange Apoco-Fists? Some of the rules are so odd, and hard to find an explanation for it's frustrating.
what if you buy something cheap and relist it for higher and it just doesnt sell? even though its the cheapest price for the item and no one buys it? and your stuck with this item you want to sell but cant
If you're lookin to start selling skins on the SCM I'd say buy some from scrap.tf lotta decent deals to get started with, some even making a decent amount to sell orders
