Speaking of transferring between weapons: The Eyelander & Airstike use the same code to track kills, and even share the stealing mechanic. So if an Eyelander Demo kills an Airstike Soldier who has some kills, he'll steal them as heads.

Theoretically, the "extender" might sync quite well with the Splendid Screen. Extended range hit at the start, land the bash, then get the damage-boosted swing.
funny thing is, you could actually theoretically one shot a fully overhealed heavy as demoknight. however, it requires a long setup and is very situational

Shitty melee hitreg 24/7, engine exploits with trimping, janky mechanics that aren't intended/doesn't work as intended (extender, longer charges on bash kills). Yup, definitely Source Engine the character.
@@vivelespatat2670 trimping is really fun though. they should just keep it as a feature like what they did with rocket jump! takes some skill, but extremely rewarding!
8:27 THEORY: the "regen charge on melee kill" stat actually just regenerates charge on any kill (or maybe just on any kill with a melee being held), it then does a check to see if it was a melee weapon kill, and removes however much charge it regenerated if its not, however if you hold right click, you initiate a new charge before the game has a chance to remove this regenerated charge meter
my own guess is that shield damage counts as melee damage ( either that, or it's because the shield itself isn't its own weapon - you're technically wielding another weapon when you charge, after all - so shield kills while holding a melee count as melee kills for the effect ) but applies _before_ the charge ends, so you get the meter refill in any time you get a shield kill to begin with ... but then your current charge ends and your charge meter immediately drops to zero it'd certainly explain why it just seems like a variant on the extender, since they both involve holding right click when you gain 100% charge to start a new one and prevent your old charge from ending, throwing away all that meter you just gained
8:40 what probably is happening is that the charge meter is getting refilled a moment before the charge ends and charge ending sets the meter to zero without caarrying any of the remaining meter over
@@adityamaram6293 well spy is mostly movement skill. demoknight is having experience of knowing exactly how far your charge goes, what your resistances are, or other stuff like that
@@localidiotnumber792 Well, couldn't you call the ability to gauge distance well, knowing when you should strike, from where you should strike, which target is your priority, and being able to dodge projectiles and shots a skill?
Imagine a demo knight running tide turner, booty's and eyelander or pursian persuader and just going around the map like a train constantly charging and getting shield bash kills
8:36 I think it's because it refills on the kill but since you're slowed down it also ends the charge but if you're holding right click then it resets the charge before the game recognises that you're too slow, then you also get the immunity to the speed stop for the first 10%
Fun fact: The Scout (and I'm sure other classes with throwables) has a bug similar to the persian persuader. If you throw the flying guillotine by just clicking, then it'll automatically switch back to the weapon you had out before. But, if you hold down the click even after it's already been thrown, Scout will still be holding it both for you and other's perspectives. This gives no silly advantage like the persuader does, and I'm not even sure if this is the only unique throwable in the game, but still interesting. Just like how the bread monster mad milk has longer range than normal mad milk for no reason.
Demoknight Loadout: The Über-Charger -Eyelander (5 heads) -Tide Turner -Booties Oneshot scouts, spies, engineers, and snipers and pick up ammo boxes in a chain for infinite charge
@@tvcat5096 It's the tide turners ability. I think he means that when you kill a scout the tide turner shield bash will recharge and you will be able to charge further and possibly hit another person charging even more
wow, great video! really easy to watch, explains stuff well with good examples and it's also pretty funny. I can see the AsumSaus inspiration but you made your own thing out of it, which is great! Also, I love the "Extender because Melee" reference lmaoo
8:41 I'm pretty sure that the reason the charge doesn't refill normally is kind of the same Persian Persuader works. The order is kind of wacky too. When you shield bash someone, you gain the bonus charge. After that it charges if you're at max charge meter. Only after it looks for right click does it handle the charge, but since you had ended a charge from shield bashing, you get reset. This could be the case because I don't see the meter go up when you use the extender, so "melee" kills don't count for gaining meter while charging or because they end the charge anyways. I think the code might be ordered in this sort of way: 1. Movement 2. Hitting/crits/start swing 3. Get bonus charge from melee/bash/boxes 4. Start charge detection 5. If needed end charge and reset meter 6. Melee range
Sadly the tide turner does less damage, (capping out at 75 with 5 heads) but if you used the glitched extendo reach to hit the light class before running into them then yes, they will die and yes, you can charge reset and continue the slaughter
8:27 Because like before, if you hit an enemy with a bash, it recharges the meter but the charge ends and depletes the meter. But if you hold right click, it refills, resets the timer, and keeps going.
The only thing I understand from solar's demoknight play style is, and no offence solar, slam my face into any and every wall with a mild slope, then sword go burrr.

Solar light you're awesome I wish you made a lot more videos you're editing is awesome really like how you change the pace of everything just keep up the good work
I have a theory for the buff transferring. The change to the Eyelander that gave it the extra damage for every head was not actually added to the Eyelander but rather the shields. I imagine it was done this way just in case they added another weapon later that gathered heads as well. This could explain why the bug only doesn't occur on the sword items, there may be some kind of tag calling them a sword. Ah, the Half-Zatoichi. Well it was the only of the swords to also appear on another class and for a while the animations were bugged in the loadout menu and it displayed the stock bottle animations but with the sword in hand. So I presume the weapon is missing these tags if they exist.
9:57 Personal theory on why this occurs - the Eyelander is considered an Sword-Type weapon, but the weapons that it does transfer to are not considered Sword Type. Maybe at least. The Half-Zatoichi is weird in that it *is* a sword, but it could be that property isn't true since Soldier can use it, but Solider otherwise can't use Sword-Type weapons.
I have to imagine someone already mentioned this, but it seems that your charge ending for any reason empties the meter, so if you get a charge kill normally, the charge ends after getting the refill, setting you back to 0
Maybe the extender is useful for finishing off airblast spamming pyros? the increased range might decrease the reaction time window for the pyro enough to make it too hard to react to.
8:29 its possible that you are actually just _always_ getting the refill whether its a shieldbash/non-melee kill or a melee kill, but then it double-checks after it's refilled the meter if the kill was a non-melee or a melee kill. if it was a non-melee kill then remove the amount it just added, but because you're triggering another charge before it does this double check it cant remove the refill it added in your previous charge. Or, possibly, the shield bash counts as a melee kill internally but then double-checks if your melee kill was with a shield or a normal melee weapon and then tries to remove the charge from there. Essentially, this would be the order of operations the game is doing if this is correct: 1. you get a kill while charging, the game refills your meter. 2. the game sees that your meter is completely full and that you're holding M2, so triggers another charge. 3. the game then checks if your previous kill was melee or not, if not remove the charge it added. 3a. it can only do this if the kill happened during the same charge you are currently in. you just started a new one, so it cant. Just an idea, no clue if that's actually accurate or not but it's the only explanation I got.
Oh, thanks for 100k by the way. I kind of rocketed past that milestone since the last actual video I uploaded on Halloween.

When you shield bash someone, you gain the bonus charge. After that it charges if you're at max charge meter. This could be the case because I don't see the meter go up when you use the extender, so "melee" kills don't count for gaining meter while charging or because they end the charge anyways. I think the code might be ordered in this sort of way:

3. Get bonus charge from melee/bash/boxes
4. Start charge detection
5. If needed end charge and reset meter

Theme not song my bad*
8:29 its possible that you are actually just _always_ getting the refill whether its a shieldbash/non-melee kill or a melee kill, but then it double-checks after it's refilled the meter if the kill was a non-melee or a melee kill. if it was a non-melee kill then remove the amount it just added, but because you're triggering another charge before it does this double check it cant remove the refill it added in your previous charge. Or, possibly, the shield bash counts as a melee kill internally but then double-checks if your melee kill was with a shield or a normal melee weapon and then tries to remove the charge from there.
Essentially, this would be the order of operations the game is doing if this is correct:
1. you get a kill while charging, the game refills your meter.
2. the game sees that your meter is completely full and that you're holding M2, so triggers another charge.
3. the game then checks if your previous kill was melee or not, if not remove the charge it added.
3a. it can only do this if the kill happened during the same charge you are currently in. you just started a new one, so it cant.
Just an idea, no clue if that's actually accurate or not but it's the only explanation I got.
