This is all the modern themes are missing more of IMO. They are great compositions but synths/electronics have always been part of Dr Who's identity for me.
Totally agree. It's great to have money to do a full orchestration - unlike the 80's - but Mr Gold has just gone a bit too far with this concoction of crud... 📺
@@babapants "The original 1963 recording of the Doctor Who theme music is widely regarded as a significant and innovative piece of electronic music, recorded well before the availability of commercial synthesisers."
As much as I love the deeply textured orchestra backing the theme none of the revival themes aside from Jodie’s really scratch the abstract Sci-Fi itch that DW is known for scratching aggressively
That's absolutely amazing !!!! So much talent to do that !!! Do you think you could do the same but with Gold 2005 (or 2008) X Howell 1980 ? I think it would be amazing !!!
Thank you for the kind message here, also for what you mentioned, it is a very neat idea that I very much so appreciate to do, however, it is one of those ideas that has already been done by other creators. Also, I am of point of my career here to create more personal new stuff rather than to make remixes... By my own words, 10 approximate theme projects, and 1 collaberative theme project. Be on a look out in future just in case I do release what you mention here. ;)
@@DoctorM1ck Okay !!! I wish you success and fulfillment in your personal musical projects ! Thanks again for everything you already do, it’s awaseome !
THIS IS AWESOME edit: i keep coming back to this theme because it just fills me with so much energy. its so exciting, the synths just make this hit way harder
This is great, I loved it. A mix of the 2023 theme with the theme that was note used for the Doctor Who Game "edge of time" would be mindblowing. Thanks for all your incredible job.
The thumbnail and this video put together would be from redmakesmusic, they are wonderful for spending the time to help me get this out. The music generally took a lot to put into and it even uses my latest 1980 Theme Elements (In which, I am fully complete in).
Wowsas i love this old and new brings back so many memories and merging the old with the new i just wish the fandom would blend together as well as this. Great job :)
Only broadcast mixes, with an exception of rewatches, this would produce the full closing instead on having commentation during the closing. So only Opening and Closing "Rewatch Copies" around, which would still mean low quality rips through a cloud service player. Would have to wait until the blu-ray releases of the episodes, or the cd soundtrack release (which may include the full master mix of the latest arrangement in studio quality) for any higher quality master of the latest themes.
This sounds amazing. The only thing that's missing is the drop at 0:14 which is very strong in the 60th theme but more in the background here. I like this part a lot about the new theme
@@DoctorM1ck I don't know the exact musical terms, especially the english ones 😅 I'm referring to the (aggressive) violins in the transition from the beginning to the main part. Does that narrow it down? 😂
@@simondavid5239 When you reference the "drop", I was more thinking of Segun Akinolas Opening Sequence, where the bass seem to do a "vinyl stop effect" or "tape stop effect" before the 1963 melodies kick in. I don't see why that is necessary considering this mix is just simply the 60th theme by Murray Gold and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales versus strictly the 1980 Theme Tune by Peter Howell. I did say this to someone else within the comments section, but the way I do mixing, I can't work with the modern themes since they have a lot of drums, percussion, etc. This would dwell into why I monthly upload since I would isolate a lot of this material much by Adobe Audition, and I also use audio isolating techniques within Audition combined with the spectrogram tools to make the best isolated versions (possibly stems) of the mixes. This does mean I do take a lot of time with my own uploads that uses the Official TV Theme. Considering the Howell Theme in my isolated collection of samples is pretty much complete, I would eventually move onto other composers like Delia Derbyshire's 1972 Delaware Theme, Dominic Glynn's 1986 Theme and Keff McCulloch's 1987 Theme. Once I am done with the Classic Era, then I would consider making remixes with the more modern themes (that include the John Debney 1996 TV Movie theme tune and its demo unreleases).
Most of the material of the Howell 1980 part is actual stems and not isolated personally, the rest is cleaned up, isolated and "sampled" using adobe audition. I also never make stems of such, just isolated samples of the majority of what I can isolate.
amazing stuff mate, glad have helped you with this :)

I agree. It’s not Doctor Who without synth.

It was only snyth for the 80s lol, it isn't doctor who's identity....

Yes. Just....yes. So much yes. Frankly, I would just keep typing "yes" but, well...I should get to work.
If by some miracle I ever play The Doctor, this is the theme I want
Well you have to wait first because I want to be the doctor too 😂😂😂
@@jayparton3258so do I
I’d want a different theme though hmmm I’ll have to think about it
Me too or 80s style theme, but darker or something like dark mix of 8th Doctor Big Finish theme with War Doctor Theme.
This was the first proper remix i saw on youtube with the 2023 theme when it came out its great
It's brilliant 😁😁

This’ll be the Eighth Doctor’s Spin-off show intro
Not so much officially, but thanks for the idea.
This would be a brilliant one off mashup for them to use in the 60th specials! Just what the new theme was missing. 😄
If every thier is multi doctor story ect then the theme tune to the episode should be combination of each doctors
This is the best thing ever heard
THIS IS AWESOME

@@DoctorM1ck Your welcome :3
I love DW mixed, they get the best of the good themes and make them better
this is great
Thank you! :)
this actually works so damn well. this should be the theme, and they should've used an updated 80s logo rather than the diamond one
Absolutely love it pity did add tom in credits though but love the remix still
Ayyy
Epic!
I listen to this when the intro plays this would of been top
This slaps
Absolutely! :D
Oh my god, well done
Thank you! :)
Reckon you can do this to every tune, each meeting the 60th tune
How have I not seen this? I'm so out of touch with RUclips lmao
All in a matter of time Tweetlord. 😂
Oh yup, New theme defiantly needs synths
"My" Doctor is Davison... and so Howell's theme is very special to me. This hurts my head :} But it's a way better version of Gold23...
THIS should be the new theme!
I love this, btw can i use this for a title sequence?
Sure!
I would mind a fair tag or mention as credit please. Thank you
I'm sorry, but this just works

could you possibly do the Debney theme with the 60th theme?
All depends on my side, but I would see about making it.
No, David Arnold
Honestly sounds not far off from the Movie theme
Well, Murray was clearly taking notes then xd
Murray Gold's realisations are such rubbish. Best to use either the Delia or Howell and be done with it.
Could not be too far from the truth.
