The problem with TROS was JJ not Daisy! I mean, sure, it was an entertaining escape from reality, but as a sequel to TLJ it was terrible (too much back peddling) and as an ending to the saga it was lazy.
@@lookingforwookiecopilot You must be surely kidding? The issue was that TLJ thought subverting expectations built by Force Awakens was an actual crowd pleaser. That entry wrote itself into a corner so the only way to move forward was to back peddle. TLJ should go down in history as an example of what not to do in the 2nd part of a trilogy.
@@eufrosniad994 In TFA the New Republic government is destroyed and Luke is missing, having just "walked away from it all" after one of his students destroyed his school. TLJ begins with what's left of the "good guys" fleeing, and Rey finding a Luke that still has a "walk away from it all" mentality. So, what expectations from TFA did TLJ subvert?
@@lookingforwookiecopilot I think it’s safe to say that being unable to comprehend any expectations in TFA explains why you enjoyed TLJ. You remind me of a friend who had many of their favourite movies in the IMDb bottom 100 list. In short, you are far from a level of grasping themes and narrative devices that build expectations. So it is natural that everything appears great to you.
Exactly. Writers are the blame for the sequel trilogy becoming a complete failure. If fans are blaming the actors for the roles, then they need to grow up and get their facts straight. The writers are telling the story, not the actors.

So true. I feel so sorry for Ms Ridley. Imagine the excitement for a young actor being cast in the role of a lifetime only to watch it rapidly become such a weighty yoke around her professional and creative neck. I am amazed she’s returning to the role. If I was her, I’d be running as far away as possible.
I never blame the actors for a story that is being told. They’re there to bring what the writers put on the page onto the screen. But I 100% blame the writers and Disney for allowing them to switch directors for Last Jedi and ruining what was originally planned. Cause Rian ruined it all.
They're often the uplifting parts of bad films or TV episodes because they are playing these characters for quite some time, getting to know them, step into their skin so to speak and thus, even in a bad film or episode, they manage to give their best because they know their characters so well.
She can’t act she’s plays victim and guess what there’s another Rey movie yikes but she’ll complain about death threats after posting herself talking about the force is female state of it

It's honestly a miracle with how bad her writing was, Daisy never seemed unlikable on screen. She is a good actress. The good parts that come from the character of Rey are attributed to Daisy, no one else.
If she was speaking with honesty, she would have said “we all knew we were making garbage”. They essentially said it on the press tour, it was like GOT S8 press tour.
I liked it. Star Wars is like Pizza. Even when it's not amazing, it's still pretty good. Except Revenge of the Sith. That's my least favorite in the entire Saga.
It's always interesting to see how actors are credited with both the successes AND the failures of what is otherwise in the hands of writers, directors, producers, editors, marketers, etc. But that's just how it goes.
Yeah, the downsides of being in the spotlight but I think in this and in a lot of recent cases people understand that. I don't see many people blaming the actors. Most blame the producers. It's just that the actors come face to face with it due to frequent interviews
naah...harrison has been saying yes to a lot of shits lately. i dont think he's the type that cares about his movie legacy, give him enough money and he'll do what he's told.
Yes, I agree. People don't seem to understand what an actor does. And he can sometimes salvage a bad script (like Sir Alec Guiness with the awful dialogue in A New Hope) but oftentimes they are at the mercy of those who write and direct a movie. Why hate on Christensen or Lloyd for the mess the Prequel Trilogy was? Sometimes I wonder about people.
@@gotchewz I have 30+ years of collective experience as an actor, director, writer, sound designer, video editor, fight choreographer, prop-maker, V.O. artist, etc. You are correct; the average human DEFINITELY does NOT know what any of these roles truly mean. They believe that they do... but, no... they do not.
totally agree. but - to be fair - it is the job... especially in star wars... edit: i do though totally agree! many of the so-called fans are being extremely toxic and impolite (hayden, ahmed, rose-actress, child-anaken-actor and so many others; writers and directors). every time i read a toxic opinion i'm thinking "the star wars universe is not YOUR personal property. if you don't like it, don't watch it". like people bashing some sports team or player for not sporting sportily enough... be respectful, people. and say the f thank you to the people who are trying to entertain you.
I will never deny not liking the sequels and thinking the writing was a dumpster fire. What I will NEVER say is that any of the actors were to blame. NONE OF THEM. Daisy, John, Oscar, Rose; Mark, Harrison & Carrie's reunion...they all got shafted by others. So, respect to the actors. Always.
@@bruno4499 It is not worth your time and you are correct. I am old enough to remember, and the complaints were specifically about his delivery - especially in the second film, and MAGNIFIED by the scenes on Naboo. The dialogue did not help, but it was specifically pointed out that it was not just the writing, it was the delivery. After the Revenge came out the perception changed because his performance was widely seen as far superior in that film to the previous. Different viewers attributed it to different skills he had acquired, but mostly agreed that he improved as an actor. Some people are just parrots of things they heard, having not experienced it for themselves. It's like a ten year old trying to tell a college student what highschool is like.
The acting, the casting the writing and the directing...1-3 and 7 thru 9...total disaster. So much so its STILL being talked about how bad they are to this very day.
I just saw her new movie on Disney+, "Young Woman & The Sea" and i can tell you, Daisy has always been a great actress, "Young Woman & The Sea" proves what she can do at best when she's given the right material to work with. Feel so bad for the trainwreck that she went through in Star Wars when it's really not her fault at all
Coincidently, I rewatched it the other day. I have my issues with those movies. But I never blame her. I actually like Daisy Ridley. Is not her fault. She didn't write, produce and direct those movies. She was just doing the job she was hired for. Just like I have issues with Superman Returns but I don't blame Brandon Routh. I'll give the movie this, at least they tried to please fans. Because of the reception to the previous one. Is like JJ was, I heard you. It was silly Luke throwing the lightsaber away. They tried. And I'm not going to lie, seeing Lando on screen put a smile on my face.
I think most people agree that the problem with the movies is not the cast. The actors did a pretty good job with what they were given. You can see their talent in the other roles they've had since then. The criticism of the movies comes down to the really poor writing.
Yeah, I dont understand why JJ Abrahams SW movies, specially the last, get the same or even more hate then the middle Rian movie one. I mean the Force Awakens was not that great, but you could feel that JJ Abrahams loved the originals. It felt too close to them and as such kind of fan fiction. But at least there was some passion and care. And the baseline for the cool characters (not iconic, but they were good enough) was there. Then he came back for the third and tried to fix all the crap that Rian's ego created. And now he gets all the hate.
@@Daniel__Nobre The biggest mistake this trilogy made was not planning out the whole story in advance, a point that J.J. Abrams conceded in an interview not long ago. If they had, both J.J. and Rian Johnson would've been on the same page and we wouldn't have two films competing for the overall vision of this sequel trilogy.
@@Daniel__Nobre It's because it's so blatantly clear that JJ just doesn't care to make a good story. He bent over backward for the fans that cried about TLJ and fed every single ounce of nostalgia he could think of and made the safest half assed Star Wars movie. There's nothing creative original about it. No depth, no empathy, nothing. Rian actually tried to be creative and wrote something new for Star Wars to take it in a new direction. It felt like he actually tried. There was depth to the characters unlike TROS.
@@Daniel__Nobre It's because the female lead caught the bad side of the political zeigeist and many fans are contrary to be edgy or to seem more intelligent. Having Rian's movie as a preference is an actual bad opinion most of the time.

RJ certainly deserves every criticism thrown his way, if I ever hear the term "subvert expectations" again, it will be too soon. But to be fair, this is almost ENTIRELY JJs mess. He was the one that couldn't think of anything better than a poor copy of ANH. He was the one that thought of the idea to excise Luke from TFA and ditch him into self-exile. He was the one that thought it was a great idea not to reunite Luke, Leia, and Han. He was the one that couldn't write himself out of the mystery box he put trapped himself in Rise of Skywalker. The PT had its dialogue problems, but it at least gave us an original story that Lucas clearly planned out, but the ST was doomed the moment JJ was hired.
It's just insane to me that Disney could not help themselves to start milking this franchise and had the first movie announced before they even knew what they wanted for the trilogy. If they had planned things out, sure little changes could be made, but then like GL's trilogies they would at least feel like they made sense granted we were privy to some of the BTS issues in real time, but it was so easy to be taken out of the story with the retcon mess it became
Say whatever you like about Disney, but Daisy is a class act. She has tact and candor in equal amounts, which is an extremely rare combination to find in a person.
Its not her fault. She’s a great actor and a lovely person. It’s Disney’s fault 100%. I feel bad mostly for John Boyega and how they wasted his character.
Meh. Finn was a terrible character from concept. A former stormtrooper taken from his family and mentally conditioned for loyalty breaking free of the First Order should not, under any circumstances, have been the bumbling comic relief with a crush on the girl. To make that character work, they would have had to hire a totally different actor.
Im confused why it's been announced she's agreed to come back n make a fourth project with star wars. I think that deserves some criticism as that's definitely on her as she n every one else onvo should walk away.
@@Julez3133 yeah but I'm not praying on my gf to cheat on me but if I keep forgiving or going back to her after a third time then that's on me. Yes! Thank you Daisy. The kiss was definitely earned and the chemistry with Adam was always fantastic! Kylo/Ben and Rey were always the best part of the sequel trilogy
To me the entire star wars series makes zero sense. The sequel trilogy is just the Same as both original and prequel but I guess this they time they realise how much star wars is not good they didn't blame original because of nostalgia that's all.

@@thehikingcucumber3410 I hate the Rise of Skywalker so much, but what I hate more is when people say any piece of art is "objectively bad." It just seems so antithetical to what enjoying art should be about. Seems so inhuman to like be running a checklist in your brain of what constitutes good and bad instead of just letting the work wash over you and letting your emotions happen with the work. In my opinion, art is to be experienced emotionally, not logically. If I ask somebody their favorite movies and they rattle off the standard IMDB top 100 or the Letterboxd top 200 stuff, I could not care less about what that person has to say about art. Not to say that stuff is bad, I love most the movies on there, but at the end of the day I've watched Chinatown maybe 3 times. I've watched Billy Madison maybe 100. If I see a guy going up to bat for something insane like Tank Girl or like the Resident Evil movies or something, I'm "Oh I'm dealing with a real fucking movie fan here."
“It’s still upsetting because you don’t want people to feel like you’ve not served a thing that they are a fan of.” Leave it to a RUclips journalist to use a clickbait title insinuating that Daisy said something else.
This is fascinating. As far as I’m aware, this is the first time someone involved in those films has acknowledged how divisive they were. I’m very surprised she was willing to talk about that at all, really. Especially given she’s going back into the ring.
JJ has commented on it as well. He actually admitted how bad TFA was and how it was a mistake to make to intentionally make it derivative. He said something to the likes of "if you like the force awakens, you're crazy."
@conorfurlong Daisy Ridley has acknowledged that years ago when she said fan criticism was fair (don't remember if she said that after episode 8 or 9).
I LOVED Daisy Ridley as Rey. Rey is my favorite Jedi by far! So powerful yet so compassionate and the strength to come from being alone and having nothing to rise up and defeat a powerful enemy for the benefit of everyone. She also had the strength to battle and win against her own doubts and demons.
Many people blame Rian Johnson which is warranted but a lot of the blame should go to JJ as well because he's admitted they had no idea where the story was going when they started the sequel trilogy.
She has the most adorable smile on the planet. I think she did great. She is the actor, not the writer. That being said, she was actually my favorite in that trilogy.
I just feel sorry for Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver in particular as they're clearly very capable actors but all the people who acted in the new non canon Star Wars sequel trilogy got shafted with the worst possible story and script.
My wife had never seen Star Wars and she really enjoyed the newest trilogy with Rey since she didn’t have any preconceived notions of what it should or shouldn’t be. Sure. I had my fair share of complaints but I had a lot of fun watching them with her. Daisy did a great job.
I felt similarly watching the sequels with my niece and nephews. They weren't perfect, and we had fun as a family. And my niece had a female lead to look up to.
I have seen that movie 4 times now and I can't remember a frame of it. I have no idea what happens in Rise of Skywalker. I remember waking up and seeing the Emperor and being very confused.
I loved Force awakens but ever since i saw the interview with Daisy (not blaming her) that admitted they basically made it up as they went along with the big plot twist it just made me sad. Disney ruined Star Wars and i'm sorry but part of the blame for that has to go to George. He should have protected his baby.
She did great work and deserves no hate for the rudderless trilogy. The two leads buoyed those films best they could. She made you want something good to happen for that character despite the unsympathetic writing. That in itself is a rare gift and I hope she gets another big chance in the industry.
I 100% blame Ryan Jonson and Kathleen Kennedy. The Last Jedi killed the momentum and potential of any logical conclusion. The Rise Of Skywalker felt like a desperate mess. The actors are not to blame, Daisy Ridley is great as Rey.
Last Jedi... super divisive? Are we talking about the same critically acclaimed film? Meanwhile, calling Rise of Skywalker "divisive" is being extremely kind given its overwhelming negative reaction.
@@hawkeye7246i have never met a single person who liked the last jedi. My only compliment for it is the cinematography. They ruined lukes character by having him want to kill ben, killed off snoke so they had to resurrect palpatine in ros, gave rey like one day of training, rose has no reason to exist, finn is reduced to comedic sidekick on that stupid canto bight sequence, hux goes from space hitler to a joke, that stupid scene of leia flying, the entire character of holdo is awful and unlikeable, the holdo maneuver breaks canon completely, that stupid scene of luke milking that cow and fishing, "lets go chrome dome", all the horrendous attempts at comedy and "your mother" jokes. I could go on.
@@oliverbrinkworth4779 Then be ready for this hot take: The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars movie. I don't think Luke's character was ruined. He always had issues with snap decisions and impulse. Throwing away your lightsaber 1 time after slicing through your father's mechanical arm in a fit of rage doesn't change that. His struggle with the dark side of the force continued... and to be honest, with the way the Force Awakens set up Luke's disappearance, I've never been able to come up with another satisfying answer to why Luke was gone and never came to help even when Leia and Han are in extreme danger. No character is perfect. Luke, like many Jedi before him, can see glimpses into the future and there is a cost to that. He didn't want to kill Ben. He impulsively ignited his saber in a moment of fear and didn't have the time to explain himself to Ben. The tragedy of it is so very Star Wars and Luke's actions at the end with the Force projection is the only time in the entire franchise honestly where I feel any Jedi character lives up to this idea that Jedi use the Force only to defend and not to attack. He exploited Kylo's rage/rashness and it gave the others time to escape. Snoke was always a silly character. Just an Emperor copy/paste. Not interesting. I love Rian's choice to set up Kylo to be the "big bad" in Episode 9. JJ squandered that opportunity. They did not have to bring the Emperor back, especially not how they did. Rey doesn't get much training done, sure. The movie never pretends like her training is complete. It's the only Star Wars film without a time jump from the previous film and must take the characters as they are. Rey took the Jedi Texts with her and was clearly set up to learn from the source between episodes 8 and 9. I'm not in love with the Canto Bight sequence either. But it serves a purpose in the overall narrative. The whole story is about learning from failure. They go here to accomplish a goal and fail... That doesn't mean is was worthless.. They also inspire the children trapped there (and the end of the movie shows that's a new generation of potential Force users). We learn a bit more about how these Empire v Rebels and First Order v Resistance conflicts are seen by most of the galaxy. Would've loved for Episode 9 to explore more of that. Hux was Space Hitler? Cause of 1 speech? And that means he can never be used in a comedic moment? Loved his role in the Last Jedi especially as a foil to Kylo. Would've loved for Episode 9 to explore a power struggle between the 2 of them for control of the First Order after Snoke was dead... but JJ squandered that opportunity too. I love that we get to see Leia use the Force. Especially in the context of knowing it was the last time we'd see her on screen in a film after Fisher's passing. Holdo is great. That moment does not break lore at all. Han says in the very first film that "without precise calculations, you could fly right THROUGH a star," implying that the ships travelling at light speed are still capable of physical interactions with other objects. The problem is that the First Order could've reacted when they got the reading that Holdo was preparing a lightspeed jump and they chose to ignore it and kept firing on the escape pods until it was too late. The milk scene is fine! They're just showing us how Luke has lived on this remote island for years. You're just being nitpicky. Every Star Wars film has a joke or 2 that doesn't land with everyone. "Let's go chrome dome"... how about "half-witted, fluffy-looking nerf herder," which is a line in what most people would say is not only their favorite Star Wars film but one of the greatest movies of all time. Sorry you didn't like it. I really am. For me, the Force Awakens really disappointed me. Too many story beats that are way too close to A New Hope (Starkiller Base aka Death Star 3 is what really sealed that for me)... I will always appreciate that Rian tried to breathe new life into the franchise. It reignited my love of Star Wars. Will always wish he had also done Episode 9 (or even the whole trilogy).
It's the same team, basically, at Lucasfilm that brought you the Disney Trilogy abomination, so it is really doubtful. They did all the actors a disservice, especially the OG cast and Daisy being the star. They damaged the OG's and made her have pretty much zero character arc. Rey was a BORING character. She was super perfect in practically every way from the get-go. That's not an interesting person. They need to be able to overcome adversities and rise to the occasion. They can't go from awesome to super awesome. Yuck.
@@dan_hitchman007 I don’t think she was super perfect. I think male viewers just wanted to see her suck because they didn’t look at her and buy her as a worthy protagonist. Rey was flawed because she was stubborn, impatient, unpolished, and on occasion illogical - all of which she shared with Luke by the way. I’m over the tired Mary Sue complaint because it doesn’t apply for male protagonists: you expect the male action hero to be a badass and look cool doing stunts and trick shots and kicking ass and to know what he’s doing. But for the record, I had qualms with how they handled the original characters too. Rey was boring because they didn’t DEVELOP her. They barely changed her look. They left her isolated with her parentage up in the air until panicking about it and giving it the dumbest explanation ever. They didn’t give her a personal goal other than to turn Kylo Ren; her other goal of ending the First Order was a shared goal with the entire rebellion. We can’t even say that her personal goal was to find her parents because she believed she was supposed to wait on Jakku for them to return and she had zero clues as to why they left or where to, so they shot her in the foot by making her innermost desire a totally passive point.
@@TheBrandiElizabeth You saw a different set of films than I from your perspective. It also has nothing to do with the character being female. There were great films with female protagonists that I grew up with. In comparison, Rey was a weakly written character with very little growth. That little come out of nowhere twist completely ruined Vader's redemption in Jedi. Same as it ever was. I think “fans” of SW 77 (before it was renamed A New Hope) were originally pissed about both ESB and RofJ. Only time made them lighten up, same goes for the Prequels, they were so hated in their time they gave death threats to its actors and keep in mind this was both early Internet days and pre-YT. It got to the point of People v George Lucas and his indifference towards the future of the series. More and more, the SW brand feels like a monkey’s paw, cursing everyone involved. I’m definitely looking forward to Rey’s comeback adventure. That said, SW fan sites and videos, run as fast as you can away from them. They’re all toxic.
@@GeneralBulldog54 Totally agree. As an 80s kid (meaning 70s-born) I remember how much grief ROTJ got. Some fans said the Ewoks “ruined” Star Wars. There was blowback about the sister revelation. And the prequels got so much hate (including for “ruining” the EU) and the OT was lionized as superior. Fans called for George’s head! And then, of course, Disney “ruined” Star Wars. And fans said only George knew Star Wars and the prequels were lionized. The cycle just keeps going! …which is why the ability of Rogue One to have pleased the majority of fans from all eras is still remarkable to me. I don't think anyone is or should be upset with her. She didn't write those awful scripts or completely change the direction of the narrative 3 times within the span of 3 movies. She showed up and did her job to the best of her ability and it's a shame that her character and talent were wasted on such terrible writing.
Much like Kylo Ren, anything that manages to be enjoyable about the characters is entirely thanks to the actors, but theres only so much you can do with that writting and directing.
I unironically liked THE LAST JEDI (I know this is a very unpopular opinion) but RISE is the worst Star Wars movies of the series. It's a big mess and they backtracked and undid everything in the previously movie in a rather clumsy way. "Somehow Palpatine returned" -- without any context or explanation how this happened. If you wanted to do fan service, why not give us Thrawn instead? While I liked seeing Lando in the movie, it wasn't really necessary for him to be the one to come in and save the day. Why not have Finn (being an ex-Stormtrooper) be the one who leads the Stormtrooper rebellion.
I never stopped liking her specifically. I like her as an actress, and I hated the "character" they made her play. The only reason I don't want a Rey movie is because I know there is no one under the employ of Disney that will do this character any justice.
I definitely don't hate Daisy Ridley or her portrayal of Rey. She played Rey exactly how she was told to. I hate Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of the team for writing that awful script. She shouldn't take it too personally.
They literally didn't now who is Rey while filming ep9, that's how writers took seriously sequel trilogy, they made s*it up as they went, and we saw how final product turned out...
I just don't understand. How could such a monumental franchise be treated so half-hazardly? We're talking billions.. you can afford to pay for talent.. actual, reliable, resourceful talent... and this is how it was treated? Something doesn't add up.
I feel sorry for her. She deserved a better movie with a better story and a better role. The movies were hot garbage, but that wasn't her fault. The people in charge just didn't know where they wanted to go with the story and didn't bother to plan out all 3 movies in advance and instead just wanted to rush out the door whatever they could movie by movie as cash grabs. Absolute travesty for Star Wars. Daisy could've been a great jedi character. Instead she was turned into a flawless, perfect, all-powerful Mary Sue that was both a palpatine and a skywalker in the same way a 14 year old writes self insert fan fics where they are both an angel and a demon and a dragon, etc.
The issue was the writing and the way Female Characters are treated. Women don't train they are born with talent or they have none in movies. It's kind of like the Conan Series, he was a slave who worked as a mule, and became strong. Luke Trained with Yoda. Ray was just born beautiful and powerful. No training needed and she is better than Kylo? They tried to address this in the 3rd movie but it's just something an audience notices. We want to see the earning of skills, the pain that makes a character great. Not emotional pain but the pain of striving for something. Without seeing that it's hard to believe in a hero. I think that's one reason so many superhero movies don't really make you feel anything. You get bit by a spider and your powerful, its a cop out for the work needed on a character. The Dark Knight shows the pain and training of Bruce. Even the First Wonder Woman showd Gal's character being pushed to her limit. That movie made you feel like the Amazons were great warriors, and made you root for them. Or a Superman character who does not want to be Superman he just wants to be Clark, the world just wont let him do that. The Relationship between Kylo and Ray never made sense... Maybe I don't get the "Bad Boy" thing but after she watches him kill his father, her father figure. Then try to kill his mother, her mother figure. She falls for him while he is attempting to kill her mentor Luke? Falling for the bad guy makes a female character look weak to male audiences. I wanted to see her fall for Finn the guy who risked it all to leave the First Order. To complete a better redemption story for Finn. Finn gets to kill his tormenter Phasma. Can you imagine if they wanted us to believe Finn would kiss Phasma? No because no guy would do that. But they think its acceptable to Ray to fall for Kylo, or to fix him? Yuck... Her character (Ray) was good and she was great, but for the older fans seeing Luke as a failure to his family, and Ray was a hard blow. Movies just can't recover from that. Daisy Ridley is just a victim of bad Disney Writers. If Ray is rebooted it would be great to see her as an instructor to make fun of the bad writing of the past. Show her training the new actors, or working hard on her character like we saw in her third movie.
"The issue was the writing and the way Female Characters are treated." Stand-ins for deluded writers who think that video games are a reasonable reference framework for structuring characters in a non-interactive story. "Her character (Ray) was good and she was great" Her character could've been great if it had been someone in an insane asylum on a power fantasy trip ranting about younglings. Ridley's acting would've been spectacular then.
she didn't deserve all the fan hate with episode IX or those "fans" talking about the mary sue thing all the time. Daisy was a newcomer, she debuted with Star Wars and played a beautiful role as a heroine for young girls to be inspired by. It's a shame that the sequel trilogy was so poorly handled, each film had a different idea so that in episode VIII Rey would be anyone and in episode IX she is Palpatine's granddaughter. That kiss was awful, yes, but the script is not her fault. I'm happy that she will return to the franchise!
She didn't get much fan hate to be fair, her underwritten and misdirected character did. Most people felt sorry for Daisy having to go along with this brutal vandalization of a beloved IP by Rian Johnson and then by JJ's absolute middle finger of a final instalment.
@noyoo123 fans gave her a lot of hate too. I'm guessing you didn't see it since you weren't doing it, but there was a ton of it. Rian did a much better job than JJ, and Rian actually made one of the most "star warsy" Star Wars movie that ever "star wared". It's just Rian packed too much in and relied on people reading the book, which most didn't
@@Dynnen YES! Ep VIII is one of my favorites movies from the franchise, Rian wasn't afraid to be bold and bring something new to the saga since, let's face it, The Force Awakens played a lot on safety and nostalgia. The idea of Kylo killing Snoke and being the main villain and Rey being special but being a nobody, without a big related family, is how they should have followed it but then JJ came and changed everything in IX...
The Rise of Skywalker was supposed to be about the Skywalker family. What even was the point of Anakin and the prophecy? Big money screws up everything
She's a great actor and I will forever have a fanboy crush on her but she restored Star Wars magic. You can see how well she gelled with Harrison and Mark. So glad she's coming back. They must be paying her a fortune but it will be well deserved.
I’m gonna get a lot of crap for saying this, but I think the kiss was earned, the entire trilogy, whether you liked it or not, was building a relationship between Rey and Kylo, in fact I’d call that the most consistent and positive aspect, the interesting bond they had between the force, trying to solve their differences through the force bonding etc. it was a neat idea that was well executed, and when the kiss happened I wasn’t reactionary, in my mind I kept thinking, “ya that makes sense.”
Still do NOT want a Kathleen Kennedy Rey movie. The character is a Mary Sue that can do everything correct while everyone else has to struggle. I do not follow the idea that the force is female, even though this is the agenda that they wish to push. They call men misogynists when action figures like rose tico don't sell. The damage is done, they have ruined Star Wars. They need to just let this Rey movie that no one asked for thing go.
can you really blame them? she produced and executive produced some of great movies like jurassic park, back to the future and so on, so with her resume, do you really think she would mess up star wars like that?
Kathleen Kennedy also produced ET.....She was a great producer if only they separate starwars division from Lucas film like what Disney had done to marvel.
She actualky said it herself. TLJ and TROS were divisive, because Disney has failed to create a cohesive story that spans 3 movies. Ryan's unchallenged narcissism in creating TLJ was the downfall of the series. Daisy is a genuinly nice person and noone hated her as an actress, she just happened to play the lead in a terribly misguided project by Disney.
I like Daisy as a person and as an actress. The disasterpiece that was the sequel trilogy was definitely not her fault imo. The only one shafted worse than her is John Boyega lol
I can't remember exactly what I said when the kiss happened. It was either a baffled "what" or a baffled "oh fuck off" In general, I feel like they took most of what was great about Daisy Ridley's character in The Force Awakens and gradually took most of it away over the course of the other two films. She did a great job in all three movies, and I can't wait to see what script she's excited about. :D
OMG, she's such a pretty, gorgeous, beautiful, talented, breathtaking, & dedicated actress. I'm honored & glad to see her star in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy as Rey Skywalker. My only regret is that the storyline plot could have been much greater & awesome than what we got. And I don't blame her for ruining the sequel trilogy; it wasn't her fault. She did her best to accommodate the sequel trilogy's filming direction & adapt to the changing storyline plot material that was given to her. Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker will truly be the bad###, legendary Jedi character forever immortalized in the Star Wars universe. I can't wait to see in anymore future Star Wars projects. May The Force Be With You Always, Rey. And keep up the great work, Daisy; I'm rooting for you always! 😘😍🥰🌹🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️✌️✌️✌️
The actors need to understand that most fans aren't upset at them at all, nor do they blame them for sequel trilogy. It's directed at the writers, directors and executives at Disney.
My problem isn't with Daisy but Rey herself and how thin of a character she is, also the way the sequel trilogy has no overarching vision. Giving the movie series to three different directors was just a bad idea because they don't flow into each other, Force Awakens is just safe as hell, Last Jedi pushes into deconstruction and prequels/EU ethos about Jedi and the Force and then Rise of Skywalker is just .... well bad. I don't know what happened.
I think she is a good actor and seems to be quite nice. It is not her fault that Star Wars was so poorly written and she is not to blame that those movies turned out complete rubbish
I wonder if there's some kind of weird NDA she had to sign where she couldn't say anything bad (honest) about TROS, because her eyes are glued to the ceiling in this clip as she tries to think of things that aren't actively critical
It's a good one, because TFA was quite well received and then with the exact same cast the last two turned into absolute dog shit. So no one can blame identity politics, it was just shit writing. Just like all the recent TV shows.

I know I'm in the minority.......but I LOVED TROS! TLJ, on the other hand, gets worse each time I watch it 😔
@@eufrosniad994 In TFA the New Republic government is destroyed and Luke is missing, having just "walked away from it all" after one of his students destroyed his school. She did the best possible job she could with the material given. The story is not her fault.
Exactly. Writers are the blame for the sequel trilogy becoming a complete failure. If fans are blaming the actors for the roles, then they need to grow up and get their facts straight. The writers are telling the story, not the actors.

I am amazed she’s returning to the role. If I was her, I’d be running as far away as possible.
Yeah Daisy did fine, just the writing was horrible.
I never blame the actors for a story that is being told. They’re there to bring what the writers put on the page onto the screen. But I 100% blame the writers and Disney for allowing them to switch directors for Last Jedi and ruining what was originally planned. Cause Rian ruined it all.
I never held the actors for being responsible for it I think they did the best they could with what they had
They're often the uplifting parts of bad films or TV episodes because they are playing these characters for quite some time, getting to know them, step into their skin so to speak and thus, even in a bad film or episode, they manage to give their best because they know their characters so well.
Definitely. Even Rose's actress did a fine job with the turd of a character she was given to play.

Yes, I agree. People don't seem to understand what an actor does. Coincidently, I rewatched it the other day. I have my issues with those movies. But I never blame her. I actually like Daisy Ridley. Is not her fault.
She is a really creative actress, just watch other films’ 🎞️ she was involved with.
Honored to have met you
Last Jedi... super divisive? Are we talking about the same critically acclaimed film? Meanwhile, calling Rise of Skywalker "divisive" is being extremely kind given its overwhelming negative reaction.
Fans HATED the last jedi.
@@oliverbrinkworth4779 You're welcome to keep pretending that if you want. In my experience, the vast majority of people LOVE The Last Jedi.
Are you crazy ? The last jedi was terrible @@hawkeye7246
I hope they do right by her this time
They won't. They're not capable of it. Star Wars has become a platform for an ideology that most of the world is rejecting.
They even had to come up with a last minute excuse as to why she was so amazing so early... being a Palpatine and that SURPRISE!! he's still alive. That little come out of nowhere twist completely ruined Vader's redemption in Jedi. They messed up Luke, Han, Leia, Lando, Vader, Chewie, Yoda, the droids... they just couldn't leave well enough alone. No wonder Mark Hamill and John Boyega were pissed.
@@dan_hitchman007 I don't think I did. I think you just agreed with me. And I stand by what I said about Rey even if you swear it doesn't apply to you specifically.

We love you daisy! Don't worry, can't wait to see you again!
Daisy and the crew were doing the best they could with the material given to them. The creative is responsible for the outcome of that trilogy.
I'm not sure I'm a fan of how you framed that kiss question, Josh, but thanks for asking it.
She’s a literal skywalker during this I love how she’s daising at the ceiling
I'm not anglophone, so to me it seems very strange that whenever Americans use the word "emotional", it's most likely to replace "sad". As if they are 1) not aware that there are many other emotions, or 2) too embarrassed to admit they cried.
ah you've discovered differences in language have you...strange
Nobody hates Star Wars as much as Star Wars fans.
And people who still hated that Han “won” the love triangle.
And then there was division about the EU. It “ruined” the OT.
Sure, the Kyle Katarn fans are still shook but it ranks pretty high on most people’s lists!
This is such a lame attempt to deflect valid criticism. I see this quoted so often when the sequel trilogy is talked about. God forbid they don't get down on their knees and kiss the trilogies ass. No one likes a sycophant.
Or hear me out.....maybe it was the writing that was abysmal.
@@trevorthornley8835 Jesus Christ with a didgeridoo and a BB gun, riding a plaid-skinned T-Rex through downtown 1955 Los Angeles, if y’all applied the same standard of writing to the whole brother-kissing, technologically-stagnant, aerodynamically-improbable, impossibly-cozy vast galaxy of Star Wars as you do to the sequels, you’d find enormous problems with the entire franchise. Yet, in one breath, you forgive the OT and PT but pillory the ST.
Star Wars ain’t War and Peace. Unclench and let the kids who grew up with the ST love it as much as whichever trilogy you loved as a kid.
She keeps looking up thinking ‘what can I say?’
Very clearly..
I don't think anyone is or should be upset with her. She didn't write those awful scripts or completely change the direction of the narrative 3 times within the span of 3 movies. She showed up and did her job to the best of her ability and it's a shame that her character and talent were wasted on such terrible writing.
You clearly know nothing about writing or cinema. Yet you persist with your one-dimensionsal nonsense. It's getting old.
You clearly no nothing about writing or the cinema, for that matter.
People don't hate her or Adam. People hate Disney Star Wars
I loved the sequels and Daisy and Rey! Thanks for the interview!
It wasn't her fault. I really like Daisy and Rey - but I just cannot forgive the writing, and I'm pretty forgiving where Star Wars in concerned.
I definitely don't hate Daisy Ridley or her portrayal of Rey. She played Rey exactly how she was told to. I hate Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of the team for writing that awful script. She shouldn't take it too personally.
I hope she gets more work , she’s a delight & a wonderful actress deff will watch her new starwars movie 🍿

The film upset a lot of people.
Ofc it did biggest crime in film history not to have one scen whit luke leia and han, 😂😂😂😂
"The issue was the writing and the way Female Characters are treated."
Stand-ins for deluded writers who think that video games are a reasonable reference framework for structuring characters in a non-interactive story.
"Her character (Ray) was good and she was great"
Her character could've been great if it had been someone in an insane asylum on a power fantasy trip ranting about younglings. Ridley's acting would've been spectacular then.
Who is ray
she didn't deserve all the fan hate with episode IX or those "fans" talking about the mary sue thing all the time.
The idea of Kylo killing Snoke and being the main villain and Rey being special but being a nobody, without a big related family, is how they should have followed it but then JJ came and changed everything in IX...
what are you saying? the mary sue argument is about rey’s character, not the actress that plays her
The Rise of Skywalker was supposed to be about the Skywalker family.
How do you create a multi million dollar franchise?
Put Kathleen Kennedy in charge of a multi billion dollar franchise.
can you really blame them? she produced and executive produced some of great movies like jurassic park, back to the future and so on, so with her resume, do you really think she would mess up star wars like that?

She actualky said it herself. TLJ and TROS were divisive, because Disney has failed to create a cohesive story that spans 3 movies. Ryan's unchallenged narcissism in creating TLJ was the downfall of the series. Daisy is a genuinly nice person and noone hated her as an actress, she just happened to play the lead in a terribly misguided project by Disney.
I like Daisy as a person and as an actress. The disasterpiece that was the sequel trilogy was definitely not her fault imo. The only one shafted worse than her is John Boyega lol
Give us a palpatine orgin story...or do a Dakin orgin story...explaining his clone existence as a failed force weilder for palpatine to possess.
I can't remember exactly what I said when the kiss happened. It was either a baffled "what" or a baffled "oh fuck off"
In general, I feel like they took most of what was great about Daisy Ridley's character in The Force Awakens and gradually took most of it away over the course of the other two films. She did a great job in all three movies, and I can't wait to see what script she's excited about. :D
It was basically impossible to come back from Rian Johnson’s abomination
Well... The caveat being if any of the actors shill or gaslight on the fans.
That sort of thing goes down like a cup of cold sick.
She's very beautiful 🥰 ❤️ 😘 Love her 🥰❤️😘
It was a bland script performed by bland actors. She had basically one face for the entire trilogy. Awful.
Daisy comes across as such a lovely gal.
0:55 what was that noise
I wonder if there's some kind of weird NDA she had to sign where she couldn't say anything bad (honest) about TROS, because her eyes are glued to the ceiling in this clip as she tries to think of things that aren't actively critical
Disney scares the actors into being veeeery careful with their words
Except Mark Hamill, who doesn't care. lol
They weren’t “divisive”.
They were hated.
Yeah, she's being very polite and diplomatic...
It's a good one, because TFA was quite well received and then with the exact same cast the last two turned into absolute dog shit. So no one can blame identity politics, it was just shit writing. Just like all the recent TV shows.
I know that this is 3 months old and I'm sure its sorted but the gain is way too high on the rodecaster which us why you're getting a lot of noise.
