I normally don't get envious, but the fact that REH Foundation Press sent you these books that I've coveted for years is almost too much for my heart. 😆 But no other booktuber is more deserving than you to receive this windfall of Robert E. Howard goodness. Great video, Mike! Thanks!

Michael, your excitement and gratitude was just leaping through the screen. It is such a joy to see someone who loves books and who has invested so much time in particular authors. I think the REH Foundation should invite you to give talks and seminars about his work. I think it's safe to say you are an authority as well as an enthusiast. 👏👏👏

Cor! Tales of Weird Menace, Adventures in Science Fantasy, Pirates.. ok, now I'll have to keep an eye on what comes back in print. Steve Harrison and Swords of the North I'm pretty sure at least one of them will end up in my clutches by the end of next month. Now we just need some boutique press to collect The Shadow, what a way to start the week. Fantastic freebie, things you've never read before, so cool.

This is great news Michael! I'm lucky enough to have bought "Always Comes Evening" in its 1977 printing by Underwood Miller and I used several of Howard's poems in my Introduction To Poetry unit for my senior English students.
I second you doing a video on James Allison, who I first encountered in Marvel Comics' wonderful adaptation of "The Valley Of The Worm".
"Kings Of The Night"! One of my favourite Howard stories! I can't remember how many times I've read it or how many comics adaptations I have. Just love it.

I LOVE the Robert E. Howard Foundation! They put out some awesome books that really go deep into Howard's body of work. My personal favorites have been his boxing stories. A lot have been printed here or there. But the Howard Foundation's volumes prints not only the famous stories, but fragments and alternate versions. And they always send me a nice bookmark that features the Howard family house. Their books are not only full of hard to get information, but they're very beautifully produced! I can't recommend them highly enough! The ultimate in Howard books! Glad to hear that they're reprinting some of these books. Nice to see they'll be available to the mass public! Del Rey had the best books prior to this, but they seemed to trail off at the beginning of the last decade. Howard Foundation seems to be going strong!

    Good clip!
I was at the Austin WFC in 2006 when the creation of the REHF was announced, hanging out with Burke, Louinet etc. I bought the majority of the REHF hardcovers when they came out. I lost a couple in the Flood of 2012. ANYBODY who wants to comment in depth on Howard really needs to read the letters collections. I talked to Paul Herman and John Bullard over beers last year about all the work they put into the new editions. I'm very glad they've put out these in trade reprints.

Always great to hear you talk about REH! I noticed that new edition of Swords came out the other day. Sounds like it has the same contents as the 2014 one, which I have long coveted. Some stories like Genseric's Son and Akram the Mysterious look to be available nowhere else. Looks great too!

I have the Steve Harrison book, need to get the others. I think Howard said he disliked writing in the detective genre because he wasn't comfortable with developing mysteries, so when he did detective stories they would transform into action yarns with the modern man swinging an axe into bad guys' faces or something. I think Howard didn't realize he was basically creating something more like modern action movies, where it's more about the excitement than whodunnit. It's not really like Hammett or Chandler, but I like his take on the genre.

These books look great but are pricey. I don't know if that fact could discourage people interested in REH's writings to buy them. But they look as a nice complement to Del Rey's collection. There's A LOT which at this point is sold out and REH press is taking forever to re press. most of these sold out books have been originally printed over 10 years now.

Good that someone has a Howard publishing program; I bet you just sold some books for the Foundation. I particularly love the Steve Harrison/Steve Costigan/Bill Clanton horror type adventures, but I know I haven't read all of them. I kind of wish the Howard Foundation had more unique art direction on their covers to distinguish themselves from all of the manqué trash out there, some uniform design as distinguished as what Ace did for Burroughs or Lancer did for Conan.
