Howard’s writing has the same grain as the post oaks of his native country-side. You can bet on its resiliency and strength, just as you can with the wood of those trees.

I've often imagine dogfaces in WWII passing thumb-worn copies of Weird Tales in troop ships and reading the adventures of REH on their way to war. Glad to hear you found sanctuary in those tales!

Thank you for talking about Robert E Howard! I have always loved his work and have always been called to his stories. They're incredible, and his influence on modern literature is immeasurable. It's wonderful he's getting recognition.

No, Howard was not the first writer in that part of Texas and no, his stories have no literary merit.

Nobody cares about the first writer from Texas thing, believe me. And what makes you say his stories have no literary merit?

@@miltcoon5515 Well, Howard himself did. And his stories are superficial, hastily written, with no attempt whatsoever at deepening the characters or at beautiful description. The philosophy too is extremely thin. Reading Howard is a complete waste of time.

@@ericadler9680 You express yourself very poorly for someone criticizing a prolific, respected and popular writer, albeit one whose fame and renown mostly came posthumously. Perhaps you fail to understand the nuance, subtlety and power of Howard's prose because you fail to understand the language of English. This assertion is evident within your response to me. Here are some excerpts from what you just wrote: "Or at beautiful description" and "The philosophy too is extremely thin". These nonsensical snippets indicate you have no business opining on an artist who you don't have the basic capacity to understand. Also, are you a Nazi? On your RUclips page you were holding a book up with a swastika. I really hope not because I hate Nazis. So did my dad who was over there killing lots and lots of Nazis 70 years ago. My grandad too, who killed so many Germans in WWI they gave him a bunch of medals!
