Dan, I don't know if I ever told you how impressed I am by the whole setup you have made for yourself. Quite the accomplishment. Looking forward to many years of you producing swords with that stuff.
WOW! Very impressed! Just want to thank you for taking the time to do all of the hard work in putting up these videos. You took time to show and explain everything in an easy to understand manner. Please continue to show us what you are doing. My Grandmother was full Japanese. I have always had the desire to build one of these hammers. I have tried to catch glimpses of Murray Carters hammer. I can now build my own thanks to your help.Be Blessed! Seek Truth! Come Winter Come! Hawk.~ Hawk Knives~
Really cool Dan, building my own power hammer at the moment, more of a helve type with leaf spring as the fulcrum. Its high with gas cylinders as hammer and sleeve, roller blade wheels as guides! Will send you short video of it in operation if email address is in description, have not looked yet! Happy forging mate, have fun!
Hi Dan, I'm interested in how you went about getting the custom spring made. What requirements did you have, and what was the ordering process like? The hammer is really nice, your forum posts are such a great resource for this kind of build.
It looks to me like the edges of the hammer might leave "smiles" in your work piece if you don't hold it just so. Do you anticipate any problem with that? Looks like quite a project. I especially like the notion of being able to work sitting down. I have disk damage and stenosis which make working on my feet problematic. Great job, can't wait to see more!
Great (and unique) design. Well built and looks like you'll be crushing some hot metal now in the cold weather ! Do you attend any of the Balcones Forge meetings or one of the local Blacksmiths Clubs? keep on hammering Daniel !
First thing: this is brilliant! This is exactly the sort of hammer I am trying to build. Question: how do you keep your anvil from being hammered into the ground? it is on a separate foundation? Also, those pillow blocks you are using, are they special impact resistant? or just normal bearing blocks?
nickwoo2 me too .......looking for a good plan with details about the relation between spring and hammer weight that's what i really need , satrted gathering scrap steel for it ;) if you have any informations , i would be thankful , you got a nice channel BTW ,,,,keep contact till we make them haha
Talking about OVERKILL! Some important aspects need a lot of attention (welding) whereas others are just too overbuilt.(springs). and then having to stand in a hole to do it all? nope.

Mighty hammer ..makes the world shake with every stroke!
That hits hard enough for pattern welded billets. Great build!

Very nice job and very creative. Great use of what you had around the shop too.
Big thumbs up for realising this project,
look forward to seeing some forgings
good looking build and very good speed adjustability! good one.
That is an amazing build. I have to admit I'm more than just a little bit jealous. I'm hoping to eventually build one for my shop. Thanks for sharing.
Its a really nice and solid build!

Very very nice... I'm inspired eh... Ü
Out standing!! I love it. I noticed you said you had some machine work done in Dallas are you located near the Dallas area?
Thanks-should be producing blades in few months.
Daniel, are there any drawings for this hammer? This is exactly what I want.
What is the anvil stack made from? What grade of steel?
Anyone have plans for something like this?

Wow, I'd put a guard on that thing. If those springs ever came loose, they'd take your head off.
