  • Working on skateboarding switch. At 62 is it too late? Well I made some progress and had fun, so that's all that counts!

Nunca se es viejo para andar en skate.
Eso de la juventud, es una actitud del alma. Go!

Nice! no, you're never too old. I am a little younger. Feeling good these days. I think even if you can't do these sports at a high level, it's still worth doing. Of course at our ages, we aren't ever going to win a contest, but it's just about having fun.

Respect, brother. Ya love to see it! I'm also a bit older, getting back into it and having a blast. I'm focusing on speed and carving, doing a bit of freestyle, not really worried about flip tricks or height. Wanna keep all my joints in place! Have fun!

Yea, the jumping is pretty much gone for me my joints are already trashed. I did go out last night and do some drop ins for the first time in at least 12 years. Scared the crap out of me just like it did the first time, but I was able to pull them off and felt good about that. Its all about having fun in the end and letting go of some of the stuff you used to be able to do is tough, but necessary to stay happy as you get older I think.

Thank you… I have a MCL tear combined with PCL and I am always I pain… I just want to get back on skates and you are inspiring me not to give in the negative comments of the doctors… thank you!

Not sure of your age, but here is what I am finding as I go thru this. My MCL knee (as is my other knee) is pretty much constantly in some level of pain, however I am able to put my full weight on it at an angle, move it around, and pretty much do everything I could before. I restarted my mobility routine after about 2 months and that was very painful at first (mostly the 90/90 stretches), but is almost completely pain free now I am getting less and less scared of reinjuring it. Certainly everyone is different, but our bodies have an incredible capacity to heal. I am not dealing with a PCL injury though, so that one I can't comment on. Good luck on your recovery!!

@@theaverageoldguy thank you so much…I am in my late 40s… it has been 5 months since I injured it…. So I think I may need to get surgery to facilitate the healing process…. Sending* you good vibes in your recovery !

@@annepinckney6864 Good luck! My oldest son just had ACL reconstruction surgery 3 weeks ago. He is healing nicely, but even at his young age, its a tough and painful recovery. I shattered my knee in a motorcycle wreck in my 20's and the surgery and recovery from that took a while too, but I was eventually able to do everything I could do before the wreck and then some. Keep a positive attitude and work hard during the physical therapy, and there is no reason you can't make a full recovery!

I am also a little older and doing boarding and blading. I should probably just choose one and get good at it. Anyway, it's an inspiration to see you doing it. I mean if you can do it at your age, what is everyone else's excuse? going to head to the park tomorrow and Sunday hopefully. Wish me luck

Good Luck! I have a hard time choosing between the two (and other things as well), in fact I have several videos about being a generalist vs a specialist and how I can't ever concentrate on a single sport. Once you let go of the need to be an expert and just do things for the sheer fun of it, all the pressure is off and you can just enjoy the journey. That doesn't mean I don't want to get better at any particular sport, just that I enjoy the journey now more than the destination. I certainly can't say I've felt that way all of my life though, it has taken a lot of pain and injuries that have forced me to back off to bring me to this point. Keep doing whatever brings you joy and enjoy the journey no matter where it leads!
