  • I took a ride to Burlington, VT to skate the big bowl at A_Dog Skatepark, that was a bust, and I ended up at the Burton Snowboards flagship store/corporate HQ just down the road. They have a super sick bowl and mini ramp open to the public out back, and I spent a few hours there on my first day of summer vacation.

    Nice man...we have very similar skills...I am 53, started up a year ago after 20 years of absence. BUT I HAVE NO VERT! Only small parks close. I exclusively skated vert as a kid in the Bay Area.
    So nice for you that you have close vert options. Keep shreddin.

      It's so fun. It's like 15-20 years old but every couple years they get underneath it and replace boards and whatnot, the skatelite's in incredible shape. It's like 5' deep in the shallow end but the transition is not too whippy that you can't learn in it. Definitely worth a trip if you're in the neighborhood.

      @thisgoestoeleven I'm in Southern California so I probably won't make it... lol. I just visited a skatepark that had an above ground bowl very similar to yours, that had been pretty run-down for a while. It was gone! Dang it!

    4:55 YO, that's a big faded Eastern Border sticker 3 panels to the right of you! I don't know if they had locations at Vermont at one point but they were a fairly large local skateshop chain at one point, they only have two stores now in Nashua and Worcester but you can find their stickers in skateparks ALL OVER mass still! I just planted one at the New Salisbury skatepark! it's cool to see one all the way in northwest Vermont!

    • @LeftCat
      @LeftCat 24 дня назад

      They didn't have any locations in Vermont but lots of snowboarders/skaters from all over New England visit the Burton flagship store (and Burlington in general). There's also a TON of college kids from Mass in Burlington so it's no surprise to see the EB representation!

    not sure how the camp has the authority to ask you to leave a public park but that's pretty whack. ive been there when maven was running a camp and no one said anything but they can't expect to run camps in the morning all summer and not expect anyone else to be in the park. the diy behind Burton is fun to check out too.

    • @thisgoestoeleven
      @thisgoestoeleven  3 месяца назад +1

      No one was rude about it, they just politely let me know that they had the park reserved from 9-12 for the week. I figure it's like any other parks facility, organizations can reserve spaces and use them at those times. I help run the camps down at the Manchester park during the summer so I get what it's like on their end. Honestly between the powerwashing and 30+ kids I probably wouldn't have stuck around too much longer anyway. Had a great day regardless!

    • @Esmith5488
      @Esmith5488 3 месяца назад

      @@thisgoestoeleven I get that, I think my issue is that they can reserve the park every week from 9-12 for the entire summer if they want running a for profit camp and for a dad who has a very limited window to skate each week which is normally on a weekday when they run these camps. I would be pretty bummed if I hiked all the way to a park just to be asked to leave. Even if being polite it kinda sucks especially when that’s the best park in that area.

    • @thisgoestoeleven
      @thisgoestoeleven  3 месяца назад

      @@Esmith5488 It's not every week as far as I know, but yeah I live about 2hrs south just over the NY border so it was a little bit of a bummer for sure.

      @@thisgoestoeleven lol I looked and it is for June at least. I’ve been skunked before and drove two hours just to have the gate locked at parks so i feel that pain. I know that zone is kinda rough for parks but I love it up there. The Burton bowl and mini are super fun

    • @thisgoestoeleven
      @thisgoestoeleven  3 месяца назад

      @@Esmith5488yeah it’s a great area. If you ever find yourself down south, the Manchester park is amazing and worth checking out if you haven’t. We’ve got camps throughout the summer too but it’s still open to the public.

    Getting kicked out of a park for a camp is anti-skateboarding. Boo.

    • @thisgoestoeleven
      @thisgoestoeleven  2 месяца назад

      Eh, it was annoying but I get it. It's a public parks facility, and you can reserve it like any other parks facility. I know the folks who run that camp and they do incredible work, just unfortunate timing on my part. Still had a great day!
