- Legend of Legacy is out now and so far has a retro spirit that I can get behind. It also challenges some concepts we take for granted in RPGs, and the collectors edition is RAD!
Thank you NISA for providing this #reviewunit!

Sorry for the focus, folks. Problem with one-man-show unboxings is you kind of have only one shot. >.<
Impressions of the game start at 11:34
Understandable and it sucks but at least you had SOME footage. Personally I would have started with the bit at around 11:35 instead so the video doesn't start out of focus.
At least the close up is on focus.
I had videos recorded out of focus like that in the past. Have you thought of a static focus for your cams? They are static anyway.
LOL wasn't wearing my glasses so thought it was just me xD
thought i needed glasses for a second lmao
Just wanted to say, I've been a long time sub (2-3 years) But never commented. Mostly as I watch youtube on tv. Anyway, I'm so glad you make the videos that you make. It's so comforting for me to watch your videos and hear you discussing these games with such passion. I adore RPGs and I love listening to you speak about them with real love. Never stop. Even if you don't see me comment, I'm watching and listening
Thanks FunkyPhantom, I really appreciate this. :)
@SuperDerek Anytime. Glad I plucked up the courage to comment
13:10-13:30 I feel called out. 😂
I believe I'll give it a shot. I know NISA does great collector's editions and after checking the store, they have plenty of stock.
This game just seems like such a good one to pull out the Switch on break or something and just grind for a little bit.
Of course, RPGs with robust stories and all will always be my faves, but I think the grind/gameplay-focused games in the genre don't get enough credit.
Also, NIS did such a great job with the LE, and even including inner art on the Switch case and the mini art book in the standard edition, it just makes the game feel so premium
I like the art style of the game much like Alliance Alive. But as someone who played through the majority of this game. I can only really recommend it if you just want to play a RPG to play an RPG. There is not really a story, or any real direction at all. I honestly can't remember a single thing about this game playing 90% of it. I hit a wall towards the end where I either had to grind forever for nothing or just give up, so I chose the latter. Since you don't actually gain levels and just gain stats grinding means you have no clue what will happen or how long it will take. Frankly if you want to play a game like this I recommend playing Alliance Alive. It's this game but with a story, interesting characters, and a fun world to explore.
I honestly think, if we got all the youtube rpg channels and got everyone together and let Square fund the program and coding while we just give ideas and concepts, we would have a goat rpg.
Thanks for the cool video. Im just happy to see another remaster. If we give these 16/32 games some love maybe they wake up and make more games like octopath traveler 2 or remake more classics!
Classic HD Remater 👌
I'm a new game sniffer. Have been for quite some time. There are dozens of us! 😂
I'm excited to check this one out, it originally released before I was familiar with FuRyu at all, and now I'm a pretty big fan of their work, so I have a feeling I'll enjoy it.
Great unboxing man! I'll be picking this one up when it launches in Australia, I don't think we have too long to wait now 😅
I've had the 3DS version sitting on my shelf for a while now. But I don't like playing RPGs on tiny little handheld screens, so I never got around to it. Might be time to finally give it a shot. It sounds like I am exactly the kind of RPG fan that would like this game.
On a side note, I am glad that we're starting to get these cool, trapped on the 3DS games on other consoles finally. I grabbed the Etrian Odyssey HD games, and it's great to play one of my favorite series on an actual TV screen. And now I might even stick with them long enough to beat them.
We Need more Games with Saga mechanics
I just got this for the Switch, as well, & I've also had the boxed 3DS version on my backlog since release.
(I don’t play on handhelds too often). Even tho I haven’t played it yet, I’m sure this game doesn’t focus on the story, being a SaGa-like game, focusing on 7 or so characters individually (& the world). Some SaGa devs are involved, too.
I can’t wait to get to this …. Finally. Will be slapping this right next to The Alliance Alive HD Remastered.
Hamauzu did the soundtrack?! Now I'm even MORE interested.
Its seriously good!
Hmmm, def gotta give this a go. I do own the 3DS version, then got the PS4 port on sale.... I probs won't jump on this remaster right away, but the soundtrack sold me..... it's just the almighty backlog ;_;
Great video, Derek. I was considering picking this up, and your description definitely sounds like it’d be worth a try. Thanks for the awesome content as always.
I think one of your cameras is a little out of focus
Next time he should just use slo-mo on the blurry footage and call it the Snyder cut...
Yeah, it started out in-focus at the beginning and then... kinda lost focus again. Ugh. -_-
@@SuperDerek Yeah, I could see the auto-focus go in and out in a couple of clips. Sorry, man, as a former videographer I know that had to be frustrating!
I started out watching on my phone and I was wondering why my resolution was stuck at 480p. took me a few minutes to realize it was the camera
😊😊😊😊fun
I am "an RPG fan like that" really. I have heard quite a lot that this game is mediocre and unpolished. And time and time again I cannot shake the feeling that I have to just stop listening and try it for myself. I really love what SaGa series does (especially on SNES) and they are one of my all time great RPGs. I love how uncaring for you the adventure is. You are thrown onto the map, no real directions, deal with it. I love that you could miss or fail quests. I love that you could miss or permanently kill characters. I love that it has numerous characters with some back story that never get too much spotlight and steal from the focus - the main search for whatever. I love that the story bits are just functional and never takes too much time to go through. They are there if you want to find them but not necessarily obstructing the gameplay. I love that there are crafty mechanics that are there to immerse you in the game and make the quests different and memorable. I love all this stuff which most reviewers say it is there, yet I am reluctant to play Legend of Legacy because some reputable reviewers I follow say it is not well done.
