I knew the general ideas but the details of how they apply to beards was really good food for thought! This will help many DIY beard trimming dudes.
Your consistency with valuable, knowledgeable, and passionate content is remarkable Dan. I hope you realize that 🤝 and realize how much we all appreciate it. It’s easy to take for granted something/someone that is consistent, but we see you!

Pleasantly surprised to know you Michiganders and other Midwesterners use the word ‘pop’. Back here in (Old) England, I used to hear the same term growing up. It doesn’t seem to be as common as it once was, but may still be in Northern England. I’m from the south so hear ‘fizzy drink’ and ‘soft drink’ an awful lot.

I've said this in another video you posted about trimming your own beard. I just don't have the confidence to do it myself. Every 3rd or 4th haircut I get my barber cleans up and trims where I ask him to. Thankfully he knows what he's doing.

Been cutting my hair and my 3 kids hair for about 4 years now, started with cheap clipper from Walmart, then upgraded to a trimmer and clipper from TPOB and have been rocking those for a couple years now. I can't imagine not having both, for all the reasons you mentioned. Anyone not wanting to spend a bunch, TPOB are a great budget friendly option that is a name brand vs the knockoff Amazon brands.

@@DanCBearded I had different trimmers and clippers. From Wahl to Babyliss and everything in between. But I like the fact that with Brio I can just switch the blades if I have to and just use the same product and don’t have to buy different clippers/trimmers anymore. Also I feel like Brio is more precise/sharper and I can change the RPM while trimming.

Interesting. Great video, Dan. I did not know. I have a Beard Club beard “trimmer”. It comes with guards and has an adjustable blade, so I guess it fits the definition of a “clipper” better 🤷‍♂️? Works good, but it’s sitting in drawer now as I grow things out.
For the cheek lines I’ve been using a straight razor 👌.

I feel like I get exactly what I need with the OG Beardscape and the Zero Blade attachment for finer details like the cheek line. One of the best purchases I’ve made, and amazing for the price.

I pretty much only use scissors to trim my beard. Have had a lot of oops moments using clippers, I feel like I have a lot more control using scissors, and I don’t have trimmers. My beard is typically from 4-5” but now that I’m growing longer, I might look into trimmers for when I will need to transparency trims.

Honestly I thought the difference between them was semantics or maybe a regional thing, lol. I had no idea, but I’m not a barber, and what I cut I usually shave on my head and a use a cordless clipper w/o a guard to trim transparency. My first self beard trim was with the biggest guard I had and it was like starting over

This video has dropped at a perfect time as I've been wondering, in relation to trimming off the transparency of a longer beard, what's the general consensus on taking the beard in one hand between your fingers and just doing a single straight scissor cut? This generally isn't covered so is that because it's frowned upon, too risky to get the right cut, trimming is preferred for better control? My current instrument of choice is the Brio Beardscape, as recommended off the back of some of your older videos! But a trimmer has crossed my mind for the lower end cuts.
