Hi doc7austin, there is more of "weekend-summer" trains in Poland on a very beautiful routes. This year it will be for example Białystok - Kaunas (LT), Rzeszów - Medzilaborce (SK), Sanok - Ustrzyki and Chełm - Włodawa.
A great documentary about the reopening for passenger trains on this line. Only one failure has been made: At 6:33 you can read that the train leaves from Wężyska (Merzdorf) and not Wałowice (Wallwitz) which is one stop before.
Thank you for great report from this long-waited inauguration! Just little correction: the stop at 9:33h is Wężyska, Wałowice was earlier; the express you mentioned connected Frankfurt/Main and Konigsberg (K-grad is name after soviet rubbished this lands in possible biggest mistake of Europe's history which can be repearing shortly); and last thing: we live in strange times, so please avoid publishing any military content - this pictures can be a weapon. Anyway thanks again and you are welcome on many others polish sparesly using railways like Chełm - Włodawa, Sanok - Łupków -(Medzilaborce/SK), Sierpc - Brodnica - Grudziądz, Chojnice - Kościerzyna or even short seasonal endings like Łagów (in lubuskie too), Darłowo or Spała ;)
Until 1945 this line was an important Hauptbahn between Guben and Neu Bentschen (Zbarzynek), via Grunberg (Zielona Gora) and also after the end of the war many reparations trains went this way, operated by the so-called Lok-kollonen). The book about these trains is very interesting, including drivers' experiences on these very long journeys, which often lasted for weeks.
That's great news that this connection between Zielona Gora nad Guben is again available for passengers. That will be good to connect Zielona Gora and Gorzow to BER Airport. There's similar line with poor condition between Szczecin Hbf and Angermunde. Now there are few trains DB Regio from Szczecin Hbf to Angermunde (diesel) and from Angermunde to Berlin Hbf (electric). There should be more direct trains from Szczecin Hbf to Berlin Hbf. Now there easier to go by bus (every hour) than train.
Now they have to upgrade the line so the train can speed up a bit. 1h30 for just 65 km is not fast. By car you can do it in about 30 min... But for train fans, like me, it is always nice to ride a train.
Why Pesa’s “Regio Shark” trains aren’t liked in Germany? Have watched a few YT films and noticed that Pesa trains that were sold to German train operators got a really bad feedback. I think these are good trains.
Great! I'd been dubious about using this line as part of a longer journey in October 2024. Google Maps images made it look really dilapidated. But they are from 2022! Seeing this, I'll use the route.
From the Polish point of view the Zielona Góra - Krosno Odrzańskie - Gubin - Guben line is a remote and a very local one although if there where more trains people from those small towns would have an easier access to the Lubuskie region's capital.

A lot of change!

Is Polregio operated by PKP? I mean is Polregio Lubuskie a part of PKP
nope; Polregio (PR) was extracted out of the PKP organization
Polregio is owned partially by voivodships and state-owned ARP.
Bus companies will not be happy.
Wężyska od 6 minuty
It is Dialga lol
Why would you go to poland, turn back if you can
