    Rose looked terrified of the possibility of giving Carla any sort of an angle for a level change the entire match. Didn’t even want to engage with offense because of it possibly opening herself up for a takedown. I think Rose understands that she wasn’t going to beat Carla if it turned into a wrestling match, so her gameplan was clearly to have it be a dud of a fight and win the decision by uglying up the fight with not much engagement and simply not ever allowing Carla to get any takedowns. You could also tell that was her gameplan because of the way Whitman and Barry were telling her that the boos from the crowd because of how boring the match was was her validation that their game plan was “working”. Just terrible coaching. The obvious better plan would have been to work with Rose a lot with her takedown defense and wrestling. You don’t deserve to be a champion if you are that terrified of an excellent wrestler. It speaks to your lack of skills, which aren’t championship level if you can’t handle wrestlers.

    I hate to say it, but I think it's time to question Rose's motivation and drive to win. I'm usually the guy that argues against people making claims like that, worn out cliches like "they just didn't want it" or "they lost their edge", I think 90% of UFC fighters are motivated and want to win, 90% of the time. But I don't think there's any denying at this point that there's a stark contrast between Rose when she's the underdog, and has something to prove, and when she's at the top of the mountain defending. She's not trying to win as much as she's just trying not to lose.

  • @michael95621

    That was rough. What was even worse is that Rose defended it as tactical when really she avoided engagement. It was insane. She was in almost no danger from Carla yet avoided her like she was going to get mauled on the ground. Every time she got taken down she got up immediately and then even showed she could take Carla down. I have no idea why she wouldn't engage like she did with Zhang.
    I suspect they gave it to Carla because of Octagon control if nothing else. She was more often the aggressor.
    Who really lost was the division and anybody and everybody should be calling both of them out for terrible performances and a promise to the fans for an exciting fight.
    It's already bad enough that this fight was not anticipated, despite both women giving good performances in the past and it had to be a co-main and attached to highly anticipated fights, but then to lay one of the worst duds in the history of the sport basically proved all of the fans right for not caring about this fight.

      Alot said that rose was mentally not over their first fight even though she improved alot since then. So its like being the younger sibiling and always being bullied by your older sibilings. Getting way stronger and better at fighting but mentally always remember how you was weaker and not able to fight back. It will effect you physically even though you have alot of proof that you arent that weak person anymore.
      I box now and much much stronger now that Im certain if I went up against by older sibilings, I would out perform them/ Out box them easily. But I have

I boxed amateur for a few years and never once heard the bell ring, marched across the ring and met my opponent in the center and started to bang. Now I did have opponents that tried that. But my trainer was different for the amateur level. I wanted to feel and engage my opponents speed, his reflexes, also why feint's are so important. Tested his foot work and head/body movements. Beyond frustrating to watch. Rose clearly could've beat the shit out of Carla if she chose to but because of her apprehension from her previous loss as well as Pat telling her she was doing everything right, she gave the belt away. That being said I'm not quite sure how the judges came to the conclusion that Carla won. In my mind they both lost.

    Rose did not lose this fight, her corners did. Rose clearly thought she was winning mainly because she thought that she was executing a game plan perfectly. Her corners, we’re clearly not on the same page, one wanted to hype rose up for following through with a game plan, the other one realized that she could still win this fight if she became the aggressor and caused some damage. If you’re in Rose’s position you gotta be really confused about what to do.

    • @jackbuaer3828
      @jackbuaer3828 2 года назад +2

      Agree. I would guess Rose's team's gameplan was to stay on the outside for the fight and piece Carla up coming. It seems to me that neither Rose nor her coaching staff could adapt from the original game plan as it faltered. They probably expected that Carla would just rush the takedown and be careless.
