The TURKISH GET-UP tutorial

- The Turkish Get-Up is a movement which uses the whole body to lift up a weight overhead from the ground up. It teaches focus, coordination and skill. Using mobility, stability and strength to "get-up", one will develop stronger shoulders and mid-section muscles, as well the ability to connect to whole body as one piece.

Wonderful tutorial, step by step. An important, complete exercise, and our body deserves that we do it properly. Thanks Louka.
I'd argue this is the clearest and best paced tutorial on the TGU. Thank you. This video should have many more up votes and views than it does.
Thank you so much!
people appreciate the real stuff they want flashy BS that doesn't work
Wow! This is the best COMPLETE video on the Turkish getup on RUclips. And I’ve watched so many of them! You’re in amazing shape and the form is perfect. I’ll be practicing without kb. Thanks for being an awesome teacher!
Spent my entire usual TGU session with a light weight rolling onto the elbow and straightening the arm forming a mind/muscle connection with the triceps. Great tip! It completely smoked a whole bunch of muscles I hadn't been properly recruiting.
"I have worked as a strenght&conditioning coach for many years, and I can appreciate good materials, and this is one of them. Congratulations 👍💪 and greetings from Poland."
One of the best TGU-tutorials out there, if not the best! Thanks a lot for all your work and effort on these videos!
Excellent. Thank you 🙏🏽
This is an excellent demonstration of kettlebell form with very clear description
Best TGU Tutorial - thx for taking the time to record it 👍👍
Thank you for your kind words
I know I am late for the party, but this is the best broken-down version of the Turkish Get-Up I have seen yet. Explained each step perfectly and slow enough to mirror.
Thank you Michael 💪
Great, Ty!
have to say this is the clearesr TGU explanation. thanks
Some excellent coaching and tips points, good job bud. Thanks for the post
Beautifully done - a combination of grace and strenght. Such a great exercise, really well executed and explained!
thank you!
Thanks for breaking it down like this.
So smooth, thank you for sharing 🙏🏽💯
Clean and to the point. Thanks!
BEST description I have seen thus far...thank you Sir!!
Excellent demonstration, many thanks.
This is great tutorial man!!!! The steps and transitions explained very well. Thank you. You are great! Keep keep!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Perfect instructions! Super detailed. Thank you.
Nicely done! Thx!
Great break down! TNX
Thanx for sharing!!
Very good and kind tutorial. That's what I love about the method Hard Style.
Best get-up instruction I have ever seen!
Phenomenal explanation. Best I’ve seen. Thank you :)
Awesome tutorial Louka!
Great tutorial !
Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much
Best TGU tutorial out there!
Great instructional video. Thank you! 🙏
this is really good. Best one I have seen on youtube. Thanks for the tutorial
Thank you very much for this. This is indeed the clearest and most understandable explanation of this movement. And it makes made me appreciate more the beauty of the TGU :)
Looks pretty effective. Something to aspire to as I work on getting back in shape.
Best tutorial I've seen and I've seen heaps👌🏾🙏🏽💯
this is the best TGU tutorial I have watched.
Thank you
I recently started working with kettlebells on a regular basis. Thank you for the detailed video. I'm working light on my getup right now so I can get the form down but I've already seen improvement.
The best tgu tutorial. Cheers from italy
great execution
Perfect!
What I liked most about this. Seeing a real time version of how it goes. Until now every video is a slow how to version but never a demo on quick it actually goes.
Beautiful! This will be my go-to training video henceforth!😊
Update- my get-ups are improving, I’ve gone from almost falling over or hitting my head with the KB 50% of the time with a 10 pound KB, to merely looking foolish with an 8 kg KB.😅
I teach a kettlebell class at the school where I teach, and I recommend this video to others frequently. Best online tutorial available.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Indeed it is!
Has to be one of if not the best single moveents to perform. After performing just a few i feel more stable and strong. This is with a relatively light weight as well.
Superb stuff
Thank you so much. This is perfect.
You're welcome brother
I learned five more details and one new variation to my TGU.
This move is my problem. Thank you. I didn't realize the pressure used on the floor.
No stretchy pants! Good job Louka! I've learned also to use "regular" pants when working out. Only requirement is: the pants have to be loose. Minor detail but I've noticed that you go for that eastern Europe method. Thanks for the video!
Nice
You have saved countless from a trip to the physiotherapist🙏 especially with the knee placement and the initial sit up.
TY Dylan 🙏
Than you for sharing this video ,its helps me a lot, I'm 69 years old but i do exercise regularly
My pleasure

Thanks .
The best tutorial. If he looked like a Ken doll and put stupid music he would have had millions of views.
It may be bad form on my part but I leave my rear foot pointing to the rear on the way up. The top of the foot flat on the ground. It leaves the rear foot only supporting you for balance and the front leg doing most of the work when standing. Always felt natural.
Thank for for such a detailed video Sir.
Is there any breathing technique to be followed like a breathing and bracing technique on the lift?
Breathe behind the shield as much as possible
Finally! A detailed description of this chain of movements. Thank you.
Quick question: (if you even read these) I noticed in your initial starting position that the arm is not at a 90-degree angle but slightly tilted toward your feet. The weight is centered over your shoulder joint though. Is this on purpose?
Hopefully, you've gotten an answer somehow but just in case here is my take. It's largely body mechanics. You must pack your shoulder and engage the lat for strength and safety, doing so will naturally result in some rotation which makes the angle not quite 90.
@@ReneJethmal nice! I honestly don’t know where people on RUclips find the time to answer any questions, let alone one from the distant past. Thanks for the info.
Louka, great video again, thanks. In this video you windshield the back leg on the up and down. In other videos you shift the front leg. Is this just a matter of preference or are there technique differences to be aware of?
Hi John, it's a matter of preference. The back leg shift torques the knee, which is why I don't use it anymore
Great video. On the way down, the reverse lunge can be a little painful for my knees. Is it acceptable to do a forward lunge instead?
Steve yes it is acceptable. Just remember to lunge forward on the same side as the Kettlebell!
Great tutorial. Can you explain what you mean by “packing” the shoulder?
Pulling the shoulder into its socket
@@HardstyleKettlebellPro thank you. I guess this will just take some practice on my part.
Have you ever faced any injury because of the use of kettlebell? I am looking to start my journey with this equipment very soon!
The key for me, is to go from the PRONE position to resting on the ELBOW, torso off the floor. How do you do that - SLOWLY?
By driving your heel into the floor, contracting your abs hard and driving your opposite elbow into the ground to engage the lats.
Is the arm that holds the kettlebell always extended completely?
Yes sir
You look like James Maddison and Bernardo Silva XDXD
I do a variation of this with a medicine ball instead , i call it the Filipino get up. Greetings from the Philippines. 🇵🇭😁💪
