Cheers for all the vids this year lads, couldn’t stop smiling at this one in particular. Have to say I hope I don’t meet you on track in my DC2 as I do not have the balls/skills/baguettes to throw it around like you all do. Look forward to seeing the Celica replacement!
Props to you guys for putting the timestamps on the video! I shall be watching the whole video methinks, but it's really helpful nonetheless - subtitles are also a nice touch and show the effort you put in.
Unintentional? My arse it was. About Ben's Celica, we do the 24 hours of Lemons in NZ in a Renault R21. It has been more reliable than most of the Japanese cars out there. Celica, Corolla, Integra, Civic, they all seem to last between 6 - 12 hours before having issues unless they have been properly setup for the track. The only thing we can put it down to is that the euro cars are designed to run at sustained high rpm on the motorways of Europe where as the Japanese cars aren't. Our R21 has done 162,000 miles and has done 4 x 24 hour events with no issues and is bog stock standard. It's last race it did 667 laps race + 111 laps in practice with no issues apart from a front brake pad change after 12 hours. It will need a clutch before the next race as we have finally worn the original one out.
@Moe We don't salt our roads as we get very little snow. I wasn't actually recommending the R21, I was merely stating what we do and our experiences. You're right about the sway bar, better to have more movement in the rear suspension to help keep both wheels on the ground to improve rear end grip.
Also something like a Renault 21 is making way less BHP per litre and is far more old fashioned. Nothing in that engine will be reduced to be as light as it can be, or as small as it can be, and it won’t be revving as high as every component possibly can. It would probably do a season of racing on knackered bottom end bearings and it even care, just be a bit rattly. Old French cars are tough as old boots!
@@StringTheoryBen Yes they seem to be as tough as old boots. There isn't too much of a difference in power, my R21 TXI is 145hp and a 3SGE powered Celica is 165hp. The R21 is also lighter by almost 200kg. Anyway, the old R21 just keeps on going so we'll keep on running it. Next 24 hour event is in May.
Happy new year lads, been a wank year with all this corona but your content sure brightened the year up. Hope Ben gets the celica back on track, I have a feeling though he might be back in a rover next which are so underrated ( Honda integra in disguise) the 306 rallye I had was modified ( uprated beam, Billy b8's, 4 pots etc) and the rover was all over me like a rash round cadwell. Viva la baguette and va va voom for 2021. 😁
I am so in love with these kinds of videos. I can literally feel the joy you guys are having together. Sick! Keep it up! Alsooooo, happy newyear and best wishes and skids for 2021! :D
Can not remember how I found this channel but I'm so happy i did. Such good content. Iv been building a corsa b (which gets worked on like once a year lol) and these vids really bring back the motivation. Hopefully one day I'm ready I'll have chance to drift some laps with you! *edit. Drive some laps ;)
I've always been interested in those MG's. I think they look cool with the wing but the only thing putting me off is the reliability factor, being an MG. 😅
From what I've read these mgs seem pretty reliable. If anything happens to the engine you can easily swap in a Honda b series engine since the car is built upon the 5. Gen civic platform
@@baker6928 the chassis is from Honda so you don't have to worry about much on it. The drivetrain is developed by rover but judging from forum posts of owners the decade long work with honda and their engineers should be visible in that engine
@@mobilerSalzstreuer I might look into getting one just to do a Honda engine swap on it. There's aftermarket parts out there to swap kseries engines into the bseries platforms so I'm sure that will be possible with the MG too.
@@baker6928 well, the honda equivalent, the mb6 civic, came with the b18 so yeah, it should be possible AND very interesting since I don't think that hasn't been done before
Fantastic fun but the real plaudits also must go to the editing, just spot on! Good camera work and editing make this very exciting to watch IMO!!! ACE
The "6" seems more responsive and has more of a raspy note to it . Don't suppose you could see if it made any difference seeing as it was slippery. Been a wicked year watching your videos 😍😍😍👌👍👌👍👌
Fucking brilliant trackday lads wish I was there! So funny 😂 That 306 looked like such a laugh and sounded nice too! First vid of yours I’ve seen so you got another sub! Let’s hope for more tier 4 trackdays soon!
Fantastic video chaps!!! I was laughing so hard at the ZS drifting part! Those ZSs handle so well on the limit don't they. I used to race one years back could keep up with alsorts of instresting other fast cars too.
I love you guys so much but Ben you scare me at the rate with which you chew through Celica engines. I have a US-spec 2001 GTS with high miles 😬 however I don't thrash mine like you do 😂 Good luck with your next car mate.
Happy new year gents! What power is the 306 making now? Sorry if it's in the video I'm only 1:25 in but got a bit excited when I saw it had been cammed 😂
Hello, i got a question. I'm searching for a nice FWD GTi to hoon around in the alps and i don't know what's better between the Clio 2 RS and the Peugeot 306 GTi, any clues ?
The Rover drift challenge is brilliant 😂😂😂
Much angel. Much hands on the wheel and a little bit moist pants. Nice save, tho.

I was behind the MG when that happened, nutters! Perfect conditions for no black flag drifting!
But you still got black flagged, lol
Reyt then
20 minutes and 26 seconds of smiles and laughter. Thank you guys, for real.
This is the content that keeps me alive
Awesome vid!
I bet there’s not many people that could watch this and not smile. Great stuff 😂
This I the definition of friendship goals!!
The jingles from the christmas jumper when you're going sideways XDXDXDXD cant get more track day christmas than that!
Watching this really makes me want to go back to fwd NA hatches. I can't stop laughing after that bit with the JDM drift comp.
How not to love you guys, you just have a blast the whole time!
