- We head to Anglesey for our final track day of 2021 and the final round of the 2021 200bhp Club World Championship! The day graces us with fantastic weather and we decide that a car swap would be the perfect way to end the year. Decided by the toss of a coin we jump in each others cars and do battle for one final time in 2021 - 306 GTi6, Clio RS 172 & MG ZS180 - enjoy!

Bloody hell it feels like you guys are driving harder than normal! But then it's different person in a different car, I wonder if your laps are faster or slower or if it's just the harder and more delayed reactions due to cars being different. Slippery good fun either way! Formula Rover was amazing!

Hahaha been there, done that, last time I went to Snetterton the rear left pads on my Pug 306 cabrio decided to completely eject themselves on a lap and at first I thought it was brake fade until I came back in and saw half my brake fluid coating the wheel 😂

Whats current spec on the mg? Goes really well
fairly common on 172/182s that, means the pad fitting kit was either reused or the new one not fitted correctly (or it just failed as its a shit design) fit the pads, then the two spring clips sit tip first towards the caliper (over the pad) and then the thin end comes over the spine of the pad to hold it in, then knock the retaining bar in making sure its seating properly between the caliper ledge and under the pad, then stick the little pin through, making sure you dont put the pin in the wrong end (the retainer bar can only slide out one way, so make sure the pin is on the end as to stop the bar coming out past the pads) - glad to see it didnt make a huge mess of the car, ive seen a few that have locked the rear brakes up and caused a spin, or its ejected a pad with such force that its cracked the wheel :(
Yeah I see it regularly on Pugs/Cits/Renaults that have those callipers on the rear. Almost every time the fitting kit has been fitted wrongly, it's rare to see them done right! I've seen it on a 205 GTI where the pad had become stuck between the caliper and the inside of the wheel at under 10mph but it still was enough to bend the caliper lugs on the trailing arm so the whole rear beam needed rebuilding with a replacement trailing arm which is not a small or cheap job on a 205.
You should buy a cheap Mitsubishi FTO mivec Manual I am sure it would surprise you with how fast it is

The best compliment to any MG ZS and Rover 400 owner is to mistaken them for a Civic XD
So I'm guessing the pins fell out of that rear pad? Just going off the fact it has holes in it, never worked on a clio before. Get it patched up with a new caliper and disc + pads?
Excuse me but why there is no pedal cam anymore?
Is it me or does it look like the zs's EBD is playing up? the rears brakes are locking up quite a bit.

How many track days had the AR1s on the Rover done before they were that torn up? And any road miles Inbetween?
This was their third track day, no road miles but 3x very hard track days.

What are the rules in this 200bhp class? Is there a minimum weight limit of the cars and a tyre size? I believe you run 205 tyres don't you?
These were all running 205/50/15 tyres yep. And the rules... Keep it below 200bhp!
So would you say the 306 is outright the slowest of the 3?
