  • My metatarsal has rejoined itself, hurrah! The Caterham is back from fettling by Premier Power - double hurrah! So it was off to Anglesey circuit in Wales for a track day with the Caterham & Lotus 7 owners club. The weather smiled on us, the driving was top quality, and the circuit - oh this circuit 😍 A fabulous day out. Even if it did test my foot healing having to repeatedly do the epic walk from the pits to the toilets. Meh, old age.

    Great video. Never been to the Anglesey circuit but you've sold it to me!! Definitely the view through the windscreen is best as that is closest to the actual driver position.

    I prefer the through the windscreen view - although I’ve never set mine up that way. It still shows enough of the circuit but is much more life-like as seen from the seat. Great driving and as you say, a wonderful day.

    I prefer the angle through the windscreen...cause I am one of those who takes the "easy way" and puts the camera on top of the roll bar and no external mic. Now I see the result in comparison. Thanks a lot for the great videos and for the tips about how to get better sound.

    Brill, a nicely narrated watch. Right in the 7 window of fun at 'sensible' speeds. The in car cam angle is much to my liking. Lovely track and nice vid. Thanks for sharing.

      The discipline was mostly very good. The odd time folks took a lap or two of blue flags to notice, but the majority were very observant 👌

    Great video Mark. Love the pacing of the voice over 👍🏼. As for camera angle… I think it depends. That angle now with the mirror out of the way is perfect for solo track video. I like the top of the roll over bar for countryside trips but you’ve now got a great position for that camera and even solo blats would work there I think. I suspect not so good when you have a passenger where you’d have to move it to the centre and then you start to impact your rearward view at the height it needs to be. But that position, FOV and angle for tracks is great! All IMHO. 😀

    • @john_martin
      @john_martin Год назад

      Of course you also have your main camera set with probably linear FOV but the roll-over-bar set to superview. So a bit apples and oranges 🤔😀

      A ha - roll over camera was a DJI Action 2 😊 You may be interested to hear it ran all day with a large SD card and power plugged in…

    Hi Mark, great video, well done. Regarding your point about camera angles, I think your windscreen shot works well, with the windscreen. Not sure this would have been quite so good with an aero screen, unless it was a clear one.

    Great vid, I am quite new to Caterham ownership, just did my first track day at Brands and (having used the on top of rollbar angle) I certainly prefer this view and will use it going forward! Out of interest, what mount do you use for your phone? Looks very minimalist, just what I am looking for. Enjoying your videos, keep them coming!

    How do U find the R400 on the Rd

    • @WhiteRoseDrives
      @WhiteRoseDrives  Год назад

      To be honest, too much. It gets to >70mph sooooo quickly. But, saying that, the mods I've had done (MUST do a video about that 🤣 I've got a whole load of footage that just needs an edit) have made it really quite nice to 'amble around', mid-range revs, wafting on a wave of torque. On track it's utterly superb, I would argue better than more powerful R500s and 620Rs (most folks seem to be afraid of their power, so the little R400 is usually going faster around any given lap). It is, of course, personal. I've driven Caterhams with half the power of my R400 and had an absolute blast on B roads, they're plenty fast enough. But would I ever 'trade down'? No. I love everything about this R400, and having the extra power is nice for making overtakes a swift and safe affair.

      Cheer got a raw striker coming to Australia be great here as weather nice 80% of the time .cost alot here Caterham 275 cost $85 K for a 2023 .seen a crs going for $96k which is a 2015 . everyone got a ford mustang GT . I like them as i am ford guy but can't justify spending big money. The beaches are ten minutes away be a nice weekend driver with no window and door next best thing to a motor bike for speed from the lights on a nice hot day in Oz .

    I think both could work from an editing point of view. however the "in car" view is superior for a more immersive experience. Especially with you fighting the wheel & timing shifts.
