This. I had a 98 spec itr years ago, and I sold it after a few months of ownership because I didn’t get along with it after owning rwd cars. I drove one again recently, and it just clicked, they’re an excellent car, quick when driven right.

DC2 IMO hit the sweet spot for performance, quick but not So quick you're in danger of a ban every time you floor it for more than are a seconds. Only 15 inch wheels too so comfortable on real roads. Perfection really.
If yall follow Keiichi Tsuchiya, he had a lot of track races on tsukuba, ebisu and a lot more tracks in the rain and day, touge races with the DC2 and it absolutely shredded a lot of the competition. N/A, Turbo, you name it. Beat even the ones above its class, its speed on the corners is just too much. Keiichi and their studio made a lot of different modifications too, Mugen, Spoon, Phase, Modulo. Yall should watch it. Search for Miroshi youtube channel. You can watc a lot of dc2 reviews against a lot of cars in its class, and above its class

@@baker6928 Yeah I've seen this a lot with track day footage, people with fast cars in a straight line thinking they don't need to move because a slower (in a straight line) car that can out handle them is behind them. I think the Integra would lap a second or two faster than the Focus if it moved.
Nothing gives you the feeling like an integra. I've owned 3. The look the feel the drama. Best cornering car giving you the feeling like your a race car driver in a circuit even though your just commuting through town.
The stability of this car is insane, in that chicane none of the other cars could hold a candle to it. They way it shifted its weight so seamlessly and at an insanely precise and controlled speed. Wow. The Porsche most likely was the only competition for that car in that section.
It's never that simple. How much of that is down to the respective drivers? How do you know that all the drivers were pushing 100%, or how experienced they were, or how familiar with the particular car they were in? The list of variables is enormous. Even something as simple as tyre choice and pressures make a huge difference... not everyone sets up their road cars for track use.
Then you haven't driven many of either category. Some '90s cars had better 'feel' than some modern cars, but a lot didn't. Steering feel? The change to electric power steering isn't mandated... it's a choice by manufacturers to improve economy. Whatever else you consider alters the "feel", you haven't specified, but there are plenty of modern cars that feel good to drive and are fun. If you can''t have "fun" in a modern car, you're doing something really wrong. 🙄
@@another3997 I am a racing driver with the FIA license, have hard driven race spec LADA 2109, toyota corolla AE111, honda civic ek9 2.0 vtec on track and Nissan silvia s13 (that one is road legal) and i have the same feeling about modern cars, they feel so boring, on 90's even 80's car you feel them alive and they are a lot more fun to drive just by the fact you are driving the car, not the car "driving" you as you can feel on modern vehicles with all those asists and "eco" engines.
That's why I decided to build my 94 dc4 integra and my friends didn't understand that. while they bought the newer civics. When I finished my build with a h22a euro r red top with a integra type r 4.4 lsd trans the thing is animal and the raw power. The newer civics with k's are nice but they don't got the go kart feeling
I had a Milano Red 96' spec which I regrettably sold a number of years ago. Never saw another one in red in the UK! Beautiful car, to drive and look at!
This is the reason I adore my own DC2R, you just cannot get enough of it. Its absolutely intoxicating on a level I have never been on before. Ill be keeping mine for life if I can.
This reminds me the good old times I had with my DC2! I had the 96 Spec and later upgraded to the 98 Spec! It’s an upgrade of rigidity! A little more torque with a 4-1 header! New final gear too! It’s an absolute monster back in those days! And yeah they can corner really well!
Thats what happens when honda says they make a car thats track oriented. It actually is. Unlike lots of others. Honda actually touched everything on the car to make it drive like that. Less weight then the standard integra by having almost no sound deadning, thinner glass, thinner carpet, more hp, different gearbox, lsd, stiffer chassis by adding braces, welds and additional metal, different shift linkage and quicker steering rack. Also the rear suspension is easily adjustable. Much better adjustability to your personal liking. More oversteer without much sacrifices? No problem, just a bit more toe out in the rear. More camber? Just buy 2 hardrace camberarms and its easily adjustable without having to remove a hub and fitting one of your 20 different camber plates.

Best car I've ever owned. I pranged mine (terminally) and 10 years on I still regret it weekly. They are absolute weapons. Also, what a bloody gearbox.
I used to own a crx si and drove it as a summer car. That was the best handling car I had ever driven. Now I own a Porsche 944 and it handles even better, granted it is rear wheel drive. But all and all, Honda definitely made the best handling front wheel drive cars back in the day.

thats true, I found some old articles saying that the Honda is just torque-less. They compared the 306 gti6, ford racing puma and dc2 integra type r. Ofc the 306 was the most comfortable, fun and punchy, matched the integras grip but the integra was more track oriented than B Road oriented like the 306. I've read somewhere that the 306 S16 had better midcorner grip and speed than a wrx from its time,but the diffed 4wd just pulls the wrx out of the corner. Every time someone mentions fwd-> not fast I remember the 306 maxi was faster than the WRC impreza, lancer and escort... to conclude I would say get the clio 2rs or the 306 a quaife diff and it will hold any fwd

I thought he said he was done with the celica lol So all these cars you guys have are open diff!? You got some really amazing skills keepin them on track. I put a diff in ny Fiesta and it feels invincible in corners now like you said with the dc2
The Celica is done, this video was shot on the same day as our last one, so the Celica's last outing. The Clio 172 / 306 do both have open diffs, but an LSD would not doubt make them quicker.
I recommend driving the car alone if you are tracking it. As you will stress the engine more than necessary to cope with extra weight, one of the very fundamental highlight performance virtue is its balanced lightweight. You could have easily catch up to the focus if your 100kg mate was not in the car.

One of the cars I regret selling. I was the first uk owner and it’d only down 60k miles.. loved it.
