It's sad with what has happened in North Idaho! Our children can not afford to live here anymore the average house price now is over 400,000 for a starter house
Pair the high housing costs with a pay scale amongst the lowest in the nation , pretty much a recipe for misery ! I’ve been in CDA for 43 years and has steadily gone downhill for the past 6 + years . Demographic rapidly changing from conservative to liberal also from all the transplants moving here .
guess who wanted that? The conservative politicians and local citizens of a conservative bent who dn't want regulation of any type nor any thoughtful planning for the future. Same as with national politics! The new-right in america over this past two decades is the worst thing that EVER happened in my beautiful country!
@18_rabbit 😂 wow.. It has nothing to do with politics; It's the people selling out to all these invaders, driven by their greed. Then once they want to change everything it's too late..
In 2021 Montana was our first state until we saw the political breakdown. Idaho was our second with Meridian, Moscow, Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene, etc… but a house with some land and within 30 to hospital was waaaaaay outside the budget. Enter Wyoming! More animals than people. Considered to be the most conservative (2021) no income tax, corporate tax, 5% sales tax ❤
These are the reasons we moved to Wyoming! We moved to Worland, which has a lot less wind than most of Wy. It's a small town and more affordable, but not the natural beautiful we were accustomed to in Washington, unless you drive at least 30-60 minutes out. Still, for these strange times, it's a good place.
There is a fundamental difference between California and Idaho republicans. Same with Idaho and California conservatives. Californians expect a certain level of modern necessities that are government-provided. They expect roads to always be clear, trash to be dealt with, and several other aspects of self-reliance that are foreign to them. There used to be a certain level of ruggedness required to live here in Idaho. The influx of new people does not possess this. North Idaho has suffered the same fate as many "hidden gems" across the country. Talking to folks from the Reno/Tahoe area say that North Idaho is doing the same thing that happened there 30 years ago, same with Bend Oregon, and Eagle Colorado, Jackson Wyoming, hell even Spokane. These areas become popular because of their small-town feel and then get bought up by developers and rich people, they are given carte blanche by commissioners and then exploited to the nth degree, becoming over-saturated. The area then loses the appeal it originally possessed and the population is left to suffer the resulting high cost of living and lowered quality of life, all the while the complicit local government dances on the corpse of those they have sold out as they now "have theirs". When North Idaho is ruined it will move on to the next "hidden Gem", and the cycle will continue and ruin another place. To add to the second paragraph though, it is a wicked problem, locals are complicit and share the blame. Many generational farms have been sold off to developers because the kids inherit the farm, don't want to farm, and just see dollar signs$$$ being thrown at them without regard to the long-term destruction that will happen when the Rathdrum Prarie is a big sub-division. Natural resources are then stretched to the max and you will have these weaker "conservatives" whining and complaining that they can't water their lawns and that someone should clean out their driveway and their road isn't plowed and the government won't take care of them enough even though they pay taxes, blah blah blah. Happy Friday. Good Video 😉
Spot on assessment here. This is the cycle that happens to all the good places in the country. Overdevelop, rinse, repeat. I'm 59 and I see it everywhere I go. People will never change. All they care about is that they get theirs.
Ive lived here my whole life and CDA area has just gotten way to expensive. To many rich people buying up everything. Rents are way to high. Its not for locals its for the rich now.
thx to classic conservatives in every level of business life and state politics who wanted zero regulation, zero planning. Same as with national politics re the GOP! Sickening!
Born and raised in Hayden, still liver here. Less than 2000 people in Hayden when I was a kid and government way was highway 95. Athol was nothing more than a roadhouse bar. This place was a logging and mining community. Those days are gone forever. The facts are that folks want to live here and there is no stopping it. Some will leave but the majority will stay. Our best hope is that the newcomers assimilate, respect, and embrace our values. Some of us natives have profited from the growth but the vast majority’s wages have not kept up with the cost of living. Wages have always been terrible here, but it used to be very inexpensive to live here. When I graduated high school, you could buy a brand new house in Prairie Falls for 58K.
This has been the story and the opinions of people residing in most conservative so-called fly-over states for well over 2 decades! I live in the so-called backward Missouri Ozark Mountains, and we have suffered from philosophical naturalists folks from Cally who believe we are less intelligent than themselves because we survive with far lower wages and far lower cost homes than what they have experienced in their former lifestyle. They tended to drive up the cost of our properties in waves for some reason. Fortunately. most of them eventually moved elsewhere! As for myself: I used to drive truck OTR, and I always felt I fit right in when I was talking to Idaho folks. The land prices have kept me away though. I am about retirement age now, but I still don"t have hundreds of thousands of dollars of spare money to spend!
The problem is that even if they assimilate, they’re still here. Just try to go camping or go on a hike. The whole state is completely overrun. My entire life, I’ve been able to just venture out and not see another soul, but those days are long gone and they aren’t coming back. I had planned on living here and raising my kids here for the entirety of my life and now we are considering other places. It’s been very disheartening to see my lovely home bludgeoned to death by an onslaught of newcomers. Enjoy the festering corpse of a once great state.
OK, I hate to do two different posts, but the subjects are very different. When you mention that many people coming into Idaho are registered Republicans, you need to consider two things. One, there is a wide range of thought with Republicans. Some more conservative than others. This could mean that Idaho moves to the left. The second thought is where the more liberal inflow is going to live within Idaho. Although the percentage of liberals compared to conservatives is less, if they congregate in an area such as Boise, the influence of that large city will be able to out vote those in the outer part of the states. This is exactly what has happened in many states, including the state I am from - MN.
Yep, 1-3 metro areas 10% of the land mass can carry 90% of the remaining land mass, also big cities are easier to game the vote forever Also 1llegals are counted in census which gains lib states more seats in the house of representatives which in turn makes policy for the entire nation
One word answer: Mormons. They still dominate, especially in Boise. The reason we will (probably) never have legalized pot. Which I am personally fine with. Boise is weird, they vote for Democrat Mayors, then vote Republican for everything else. Even other local offices like the County Commissioners. Full disclosure - my step-dad was a Commissioner down south years ago so I know a little about the local political idiosyncrasies. I'm thinking the Mayoral race is dominated by public sector union endorsement?? That's a guess. Current Mayor of Boise even used to describe herself as a Socialist years ago. Coeur d'Alene is similar with Steve Widmyer having been a Dem mayor for two terms. I grew up 2 houses down from him and went to school with his wife. Good guy, our fathers worked together at Bunker Hill mine. I never held the "Democrat" affiliation against him - LOL. My Dad was a Union steward and a Democrat too. I don't think he'd recognize today's Democrat party though. North Idaho used to be the Democrat area of the state. We were once heavily pro-union with logging companies, mills and mines heavily unionized. The last bastion of that is Lewiston, Idaho, where the Clearwater Paper Mill is still a big employer and unionized. We had Dems like Cecil Andrus (good friend of my ex-wife's family and a logger), Senator Frank Church, and Congressmen LaRocco and Stallings in the 90s. Nobody will believe this if you tell them today, but in the early 90s BOTH Idaho congressmen were Dems. So it's gone back and forth over the years, but I wouldn't expect it to ever go back to Democrat as screwy as they are. Strangely, our most prominent politicians nationally were probably Andrus and Church and they were both Dems. Kind of a weird state politically in some ways. Good luck.
Completely agree. This type of marketing is done by people who don't care about Idaho and keeping it pristine and quiet and awesome. They're in it for the buck and use the excuse that it's "out there" to ease their conscience or justify it to themselves. I suppose it's inevitable but it's ramped up significantly in the last ten years. Sad
My conservative cousin from Seattle moved to Meridian . I’m still in Western Washington but I’m leaning toward southern Utah. I’m sick of Inslee type democrats.
Wow; that could come as a shock. Cold and wet to hot and dry! but there's a lot of open (BLM) land free to explore where basically none in Western Washington where even the beaches are privately owned (down to mean low tide if I remember right)
When it comes to winter, you just have to HTFU. As for seasons, we've got 1. Summer 2. Getting ready for winter (starts in August and runs until it's too late) 3. Fall - absolutely stunning. 4. Winter. 5. January thaw. 6. More winter 7. Mud season 8. Spring. 9. More mud Had some record lows up here in north Idaho this winter. We recorded -27F here in Oldtown and our friends a few miles away recorded -31F.
My wife and I had LOL moments watching this video. We live in Alaska . Current snowfall is over110”.I also drive to Fairbanks 3 times a week ; they just had -40 for a week straight! Summer days between 80-100 degrees yes please. Red State , 4 seasons yes please!
Some cost of living comparisons, San Diego to Coeur d'Alene. Rent 2 bedroom apartment is about $3200 a month (just got my renewal for that. It was $2200 when we moved in 4 years ago) Cheapest home listed in my zip code is (3 bed 2 bath, 1400 sq ft) $1,025,000. It's also the only listing under 2 million. Electric 50-60 cents per kw, vs 8-10 in Idaho (electric bill is 5-6x as much here) Gas is $5 a gallon, google says it's just under $3 in ID Cost of living vs average Income is bad everywhere in the US now.
Im GRP n Northern California, outside of Sacramento and gas is about $3.89 to $4.69 a gallon, apartments are mostly around $2200-$2600 for a 2 bedroom. 10 years ago, I owned my house, but had to rent a townhouse 2 bedrooms with a large loft, for under $1300. The prices went up quickly after that
This is such a touchy subject. We are growing so fast that we who have lived since before 2020 can't afford to live in our own state anymore. My kids were finally ready to buy a place then then all the influx of newcomers moving here to destroy our prairie and mountains and Rivers and deplete our Aquifer and poison our water and turn OUR home into something they Escaped from. PLEASE DON'T MOVE HERE!! GO BACK OR STAY WHERE YOU ARE> You made your bed fix it don't bring it here.
While I totally get where you're coming from... I don't think that anyone who is coming here "made that bed." Imagine living in a place where you don't fit in and your vote doesn't matter because there's some giant blue city that completely overshadows any of your votes. It's terrible and there's literally nothing that those people can do about it. N Idaho is not alone in seeing tremendous growth. All of the red states are seeing the same thing.
Even Hayden is growing so much. Hayden Canyon construction is underway and is going to be 610 acres of homes etc. I was so bummed when I saw that it was approved. I escaped the big city in Kommiefornia and now its coming here. Keep Idaho naturally wild and free, please!
Government way is a nightmare if you live in those neighborhoods. All these greedy developers started throwing up shitshacks without thinking or I should say giving a shit about the people that live there and the infrastructure of roads and such. These people in local governments that approve this crap need to be voted out.
FINALLY, a pretty honest and accurate take on the current situation here. However, I wish folks would quit using just California, Washington and Oregon to compare Idaho to especially in the cost of living scenarios. Use other states as well because the 2 or 3 these youtubers, usually realtors, cite are the most expensive West coast states. Not everyone moves here from the left coast. I noticed that EVERYTHING here is a lot more expensive than say Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky and the like. Land here is especially out of reach unless it is a turd where you have to dig a thousand foot deep well to the tune of $150,000 for your first drink of water. If you even hit water. Nez Perce county mandates that depth. Actually the state does, IN that county. Do your research before you sell where you're at now to head this way. It can be a shock.
Give me a break with the propaganda. The "freedom loving people" are letting these liberals walk over them. I was flying back from South America last year to see a huge billboard on state line stating "save our children, save democracy, banning books", we all know that is liberal language for Marxism. I'm not going to go into the sick/twisted/perverted books in question all across this nation as you can easily look those stories up everywhere. It was a prop to "save our libraries" headed by 2 liberal woman from and educated in Washington practicing law in CDA. My point is, it passed. We also have the pleasure every year of "family" pride at the park. People have no idea that it is their fault in the end when they fail to see all the signs that have destroyed places like Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, and Oregon.
How can you be freedom loving when marijuana is totally illegal?? If I moved there I'd become a multiple daily criminal offender for this reason alone which is beyond insane. Here in CA I can buy it legally and cannot be denied a job or fired for off duty use. In Idaho I'd be a pariah, constantly living in fear of your government or disgruntled employers stuck in the past demanding my urine to purity test. This is disasterous policy where everyone loses. California is definitely too liberal for me but at least I'm treated like a normal person and not a two bit criminal. I never understood how people can argue states like Idaho or Texas are freedom loving when grown adults can't even use a plant without the state coming after them.
@@dreaminez472 ..Not everyone smokes dope..I dont even drink anymore, dont think I never did things I used to put on raves(legally) I know all types of drugs and even Marijuana is bad to use and wrecks your life, like alcohol..Thing is best not to use any drugs yes even pot! I have seen lives ruined because they smoke pot,as you are even screwed as you need pot to survive now,sad..you're an addict..
I love north Idaho. I use to ride a bike from rathdrum to coeur d alane to go to work even in the winter. I miss being able to go up into the mountains and bike around. I'm in Kentucky right now helping my sister.
@@thenorthidahoexperience do you recognize the picture next to my name? It's part of the little north fork. I'm in my 60's and still ride a bike everywhere.
These increases is spot on with growth & money flow .. everywhere , where's there is growth adjustment , there's increases in cost . Jobs which support cost of living has always been rough to deal with ... I am so glad I am not young with dependents ! & I stay away from the crowded congested area's as a whole ! I used to live in Troy , Montana & while living there , I worked every job that came available & still wasn't able to stay off government assistance .. it was very low cost of living back than ... I really don't miss having to concentrate on survival skills attached to every selected option may have harsh outcome that can be devastating ! Reality was my best teacher back than ! I keep my mouth shut now on what I am now selecting , due to , so many have also selected to do accordingly , only to cause such reproach & add to difficulties that should not arise from being responsible with their selections as they go ! Due to folks selecting poor options .. I'd rather not be associated with folks period ! I'd rather stand on my own merit . & not be judged for what others select ! I want to be left alone & mind my own business , & wish others would do the same !
If Idaho wasn't so anti-women and anti-inclusive it'd be a perfect state. I was born and raised in Idaho and only left when I joined the service. When I retired it was a sad realization knowing that I couldn't in good conscious consider moving back knowing that any daughters or granddaughters would be treated worse than third world citizens as far as healthcare as well as the racial discrimination that is still going on. I know the anti-diversity mentality has gotten better since I've left over 20 years ago, but I have relatives there and I still see it when I come to visit. No state is perfect, but unfortunately Idaho crosses some lines for me. I'll always be proud of where I come from though.
@katiemccormick8846 Well, I don't watch the news, so I guess I'll have to counter with experience. Between the Arian nation in the north and the people I know crying about the Hispanics taking the jobs they don't want anyway in the south or the anti-abortion laws on the books that hurt women and the friend I have that got to watch the judge turn a blind eye to everything going on while her clinically diagnosed sociopathic husband traumatized thier child for no other reason than to spite her. Idaho certainly isn't perfect. The scenery is beautiful but the people need some work. From someone who grew up in Idaho, has family here and loves the outdoors, it's hard to say, but it is what it is.
@@jamesperkins5468 Since moving to Idaho after living in the liberal Utopia of Portland for 65 years I have been delighted by the Idahoan people and have been struck by the lack of racial tension that was so intense in Portland. I should say that my family is interracial to emphasize my point. Also, as to your notion that abortion is some wonderful freedom for women I strongly disagree. The butchering of a child in her mother’s womb is the ultimate violence, degradation and violation of a woman. Abortion is a depopulation tool as well as a vicious demonic attack on innocent children, the family and our nation. I love Idaho and am so grateful for the kind welcome we have enjoyed by the wonderful people here. You might want to spend some serious time in Portland, Seattle or LA to help you understand what you have here before it’s lost.
@@jamesperkins5468 I should add that leftist jurisdictions are anything but “ inclusive “. That’s the line they feed you until they’re in full control. In Portland it is unsafe to express who you want for president if it isn’t the democrat. A young man, Aaron Danielson was murdered for attending a Trump rally and the known ANTIFA murderer was allowed to walk the streets. It was only because President Trump sent in the US Marshals that the situation was dealt with. No leftists are not “ inclusive “. Not one bit.
I guess I'll stay here in West Virginia. Not much changes and people aren't moving here. Every County is Red and if you just want to be left alone this is the place.
"Don't California my Idaho" The only reason Idaho is conservative is because Orange County conservatives colonized our state in the 1980s. Its about time someone acknowledged that the people moving here are conservative. But the recent locals all think necomers will be liberals. They're not. Our once great state has become overrun with conservatives. And its conservatives who use that unwelcoming rhetoric about how its "their" Idaho since they moved here and all but not "our" Idaho meaning those of us who where already here.
As a lifelong resident of Northern California, I am extremely frustrated that my conservative values are ignored. The left wing liberals outvote the conservatives and we need more conservatives from Idaho and Washington to move here if we ever want a political change!
The only reason we aren't winning in California is because they are cheating. Ballot cheating...wake up. We have the best state in the country, the best weather and we are 95% conservative. Too many people just complain and don't vote!
Awesome video. Glad you put it out there. Many move because it so picturesque and then reality hits them hard. Best to be upfront and get those that truly love what Idaho is all about.
So; re politics: this person says if you are a liberal, and you don’t feel SAFE.., you should leave. And it doesn’t matter to him. Not making a judgment per se, just paraphrasing what he said…
Idaho has always been conservative. But Idaho has also had D governors and senators - hard to believe that was ever the case for sure. There was a level of reasonableness by the R/conservatives such that the common good of Idahoans was paramount. That has all gone away in the state legislature, school boards, and local government which are now over run w woke Rs, D Moon for example, (supported by their newly arrived extremists following their agendas learned elsewhere) trying to restrict every bit of freedom they possibly can.
Don't be afraid - they're not bad compared to the Midwest. The years of mild winters are nothing. Sometimes I'm wearing shorts in late February. Fewer bugs in summer, similar fishing environment. Especially now we're planting walleye everywhere.
Im leaving due to outdated politics that dont serve the common man, poor childrens education, high cost of living vs avg income, and the weather extremes, Ive lived in southern Idaho for 39 years. It is a sad shell of the state I used to know.
about 15 years ago I traveled through N. Idaho, looking for a place to buy. In Wallace the most expensive house for sale was $65k and the least was $8k. Now look at the prices.
I'm a first-timer, and I enjoyed your video a lot. I do think the price of housing, etc. and low pay should have been items pushed to the top of your list. I would have to believe those reasons are overwhelming responsible for any exodus or decision not to move to Idaho. Anyone now can research (or, arguably, just know) the situation regarding the weather and political persuasion of the majority there. The relatively recent increase in home prices you posted did take me aback. Wow.
November to March Snow and that snow can last till Memorial Day. This channel cracks me up. Pretty simple business model for residual income. Blackrock is all that’s wrong with N Idaho
My wife and I are from California and we’re extremely conservative (Republican and Christian). We hate California liberal government. Fed up with it. This is why we’re praying about retiring to a conservative state (I.e., Idaho, Wyoming, etc.).
I would consider moving to Idaho but due to being a security officer I doubt I would find work that would pay enough to afford a mortgage and bills in idaho
When you're 20-30 with a family, trying to make a living In N. ID vs. Somebody 40-60 Who came from a job making six figures elsewhere and you're competing with them..
there is also issues with people moving here and trying to go after local land marks. that have probably been here longer that even the majority of the elderly community that is around. or the people that have gone after the dams that bolth provide power and water to the local areas near them and have been there for nearly a hundred years. on that note those dams provide stable ecosystems to areas around them and have been a part of those eco systems for so long that removing them would destroy those hbitats in witch the local wild life depends on
Don’t forget the growing fentanyl and drug business in north Idaho. The silver valley as turned into a drug super highway, with gangs being busted in pine hurst of all places
GODD..MOVE PLEASE. CDA os going down hill with the disrespectful people moving here!!!! 61 yr native Idaho has always neen Red. But ive always been a democrat
The comments have been great to read. Your information accords with both what I've read and heard from a couple whose children moved them where I live. I've recently begun considering Idaho from Nevada (retired already). I had been thinking a conservative county in Oregon. I'm not crazy about the weather in Idaho, but the Boise County Commission outlawing mRNA vaccinations for children has made me take favorable notice. Open carry without a permit is more inline with my own values. I've still got some life to live, and I want a state which will stand up to Federal authority. The only action which saved us from a far more permanent lockdown was states going against federal restrictions and reopening as they saw fit. States like Texas and Florida are simply too warm for me, and Idaho seems to stand strong as a state.
Well, I am in So. Cal. A Trump Republican and considering a move. I was thinking Montana, and have to pass through Idaho to get there. But you never know, per haps an I da HO could change my mind.
Boise likes lefty Mayors for some reason. Kinda odd, those same people vote for Republicans for every other office, but they'll vote for a near Socialist for Mayor. Go figure. Current Mayor is a trip and Dave Bieter before her was something like Idaho's Gavin Newsome. Odd guy for this area of the country - I met him twice. I'd describe him as an "Extreme People Pleaser". I think he would have given me a foot rub if I'd asked for one. Idaho is a uni-party state. Some people feel better because it's the Republicans not the Democrats. But it becomes the "good old boy" network no matter which party takes over. That and we simply don't say "no" to developers. Even if there are no roads, no infrastructure, no schools, and no real plan, local politicians will go ahead with the housing. Every time. Their idea is we'll figure out details later.
Politicians know they get more tax money when they have more homeowners paying property taxes. That’s why they green light development projects without considering infrastructure.
@@randysretired2020 Ya, and they do the math and figure out if they zone R-7 or even R-8 they get even MORE housing per acre and more tax revenue. Now we're getting squished in like sardines and the roads are plugged. 7-8 units per acre it TOO TIGHT!
Check out the air quality. We get a lot of smoke filled days throughout the summer. The wind carries the smoke from fires in Canada, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, etc. if you have Asthma or other respiratory issues think twice. Air quality during the summer can be difficult 😥
Your videos are so well researched and full of useful information and you present it in a way that it feels personal and not a boring "documentary" type. Thanks Seth!
Another thing, if you buy an older, less expensive house in N. Idaho and plan to remodel it, you might want to reconsider . Contractors think the world owes them a living, their prices are astronomical and they won't waste their time doing a smaller job, they want those gravy jobs that make them the big bucks $$$$$$$$$
Nice post, this was just luck I found your channel. My wife and I are moving to Idaho by this summer. We are leaving California ( very close to the Oregon border ) where we both grew up. We love it here but we can't take anymore of Newsom. This state has been going down hill fast and I don't think it's going to get better in our life time. I subscribed to your channel and will look for up dates, thanks...Chris
There's an area in south Modoc County where quite a bit of forest exists which I was looking at, but I am building on property I have in Lake County and that will be where I retire. But worse than finding a decent area, the State is on a horrid trend and Captain Hairdo needs to go. This was not always a sanctuary, but to be fair California has always been at the top of the welfare list for America as a whole. I know that wherever I am, I will always advocate owner-builder. I have a fixed assessed value for tax purposes, no matter how much I spend. Truth be told I could move anywhere I want to, if I would do one thing...sell my house in Santa Clara county. I'm at the end of my career, but we're going into the biggest downturn in the history of Silicon Valley...I have to ponder how my immigrant neighbors that came here on H1-Bs will fair out with their overpriced cash purchases?🤔 (so far prices are holding nicely)
Fish and Game recommends not eating the fish in Coeur d'Alene lake and many other bodies of water in Idaho! The So called the gem state is in reality the germ state and that’s why I’m leaving! Farming and mining the snake is a septic tank☠️!
Having lived in Los Angeles for half a century, I am watching Idaho natives fall for the same tatics that destroyed California. I am here to keep the Gem state to stay beautiful and free! Love from an Idaho girl who was trapped in a commie state!
Given what have seem to have become "conservative" priorities, you might consider having your kids and educating them before you move to the more rural areas of the state. OBGYN's are leaving and the legislature continues to be less than friendly to schools. A beautiful state to be in, no plans to move, but it seems culture issues and tax cuts take precedent over actual family needs at the moment.
Another demographic leaving Idaho is education and medical professionals. Congrats homeschoolers and anti-choicers…. Not like that will bite you in the ass down the road. 😂
Sounds like the locals are being priced out by other locals selling for big $$. Sad to see but it seems like Idaho greed to me. People selling property could give local families an Idaho discount if they really cared?
Also, as i had the misfortune of finding out, if you need medical care Kootenai Health will spend more time complaining about the excess population than actually providing medical care, be prepared to hear "there art too many people who have moved here" and "you really have to be your own advocate" during at least half of your interactions with them.
sad about resort areas...... the locals cant afford to live close to where they work .have to drive 1hr weather conditions or summer traffic my fav area is north of Idaho falls , south of Pocatello , close to to the city but far enough away
We love to Visit Challis for the BBR, but it gets too cold for this Southerner, we currently live at the 38th parallel, on the West Coast, but are moving to the 35th Parallel in Oklahoma!
there's a big difference between and Idaho conservative and a freshly relocated California conservatives... ultimately these political refugees still end up moving the needle to the left in Idaho
Born here, my family has been on the same land since 1906 and I ain’t going anywhere. I’ve been sick of the nutcases moving in for years but if you move here, shut up about your politics, save it for Election Day and quit telling me how to live. Then we might get along.
Interesting video to me since my ex moved to Northern Idaho. I think he got a government job there. I live in Central California, down the hill from Tahoe. I used to live in (at the time) a small town at a higher elevation. It was a small town until people discovered it, then, not so much. Digging out from snowstorms became something horrible to me and I am grateful I do not live there anymore. Thank you for this video. It helps me understand his current environment. P.S. One of the reasons I would not want to live there is because it is too far from the ocean. Mountains are beautiful to live in but I love the beach, too. Where I live, I can drive to either Tahoe or the beach and back in one day.
We are thinking of moving to North Idaho and will contact you for sure! We're coming from Washington we definitely like the more conservative lifestyle that Idaho offers. 👍
Conservative? Homelessness is not a liberal-conservative phenomenon. There are more homeless in cities because that is where social services are disproportionately located…and conservative rural indigent consistently migrate to cities for that reason. Absurd suggestion that homelessness is a liberal ‘policy’. Just like cretinism is not a conservative policy position.
@@thenorthidahoexperience - Stand as you like. The point is made because there ‘are’ no ‘conservative’ cities. All substantial urban nodes are liberal- it’s remarkably consistent because for a city to exist as a concentrated node of jobs, they ‘must’ accept difference amongst the workforce. That’s why people go to cities… to gain access to modern higher-waged employment (just like the homeless seek subsidies to exist). Rural locations- with a smaller population practicing like economic activities - therefore are comprised of people that are very undifferentiated. Unfortunately this explains why they are consistently poorer than urban job-centric populations. Job-centric urban nodes are not ‘liberal’ per se, they are just focused on high-density employment. But if you need to keep servicing this fantasy that somehow urban dwellers like homelessness, talk to an actual urban dweller-not a coo. As for cops, they tend to be conservative because they like coercive police powers ‘liberally’ applied to the citizenry they have power over. They are not demographic ‘scholars’. Please ask yourself why - strictly within Idaho- Boise is so comparatively liberal. ‘That’ is why- because it could not function as a city if it weren’t.
Calling it a freedom bird is very political and causes you problems. You want to be a mad hypocrite and don't care. That is more entertainment for me. I dont live with you. I suppose this will drive up the price of potatoes in the US, but that is not my problem.
@@thenorthidahoexperience I'm sure many won't like it up there. An Irish potato will suit me just fine. By the way I giving you the 'freedom bird' as I type. Feel free to pass it along to your neighbors.
I've been looking to move to Boundry County for quite a while now. Over the last 5 years the prices have steadily increased. Now a single wide trailer in a park with a $425.00 a month lease fee is the cheapest thing I could find at $90,000.00. Idaho has priced me out of the realm of affordability. The home I live in now with 1.6 acres would cost over $450,000 in the Bonners Ferry area. WTF!!! Good luck to those moving there.
One item you missed is that our labor and delivery doctors are all moving out of state so they don't get accused of a crime for saving a mother's life. So if you plan to have children, you should probably do so in a free state before moving here. Otherwise you might not be able to find a doctor.
Red herring alert! It’s not an abortion when a pregnancy is ended to save the mother’s life. Abortion is the intentional killing of the unborn baby. When the pregnancy is ended to save the mother’s a real doctor does what he can to save both lives. If the baby doesn’t make it it’s unintentional and the sad byproduct of the mother’s situation.
@@thenorthidahoexperience Pretty sure the patient had better be near dead before testing it in our courts. Professionals don't want to be making a living looking over their shoulder, so they are voting with their feet. Some hospitals are now flying obstetric patients to another state as SOP rather than take chances with legislative intent. As time and court cases go by, maybe it will become clearer.
@thenorthidahoexperience That is very true. I actually work in Hayden and I live in Post Falls. There are days it takes me 45 minutes to go 12 miles from prairie and 95 to post falls. I lived in Chicago for 8 years and the traffic has gotten just as bad locally. I'm a delivery driver, it's just as bad in Sandpoint and other areas as well.
I moved to Idaho in 1987 to Coeur d Alene . No job prospects back then so I joined the Army. Three years later I came back and Californians Had moved in and bought up everything. They also brought their politics with them. Also the price of real estate shot to high for me to live. Idaho is a beautiful state and I miss it sometimes.
North Idaho is next door to Canada, of course its COLD, 100 Degree weather is fantastic for mosquitoe. Doesn't rain as much as Oregon it snows. Dont go to Idaho if you don't hunt. Liberals go to California you will love the liberal policies there. Homeless, crime, free health care for illegal Immigrants and HIGH TAXES..

Lol
It's sad with what has happened in North Idaho! Our children can not afford to live here anymore the average house price now is over 400,000 for a starter house
Pair the high housing costs with a pay scale amongst the lowest in the nation , pretty much a recipe for misery ! I’ve been in CDA for 43 years and has steadily gone downhill for the past 6 + years . Demographic rapidly changing from conservative to liberal also from all the transplants moving here .
I was born in Wallace
guess who wanted that?
It was on our list as well
@@BobbL-tf3mewell, I don’t know about sucks, but the wind never stops blowing! 😂
Moving snow can be expensive. Even if you do it yourself.
I left Wyoming because of the wind and the 50 below zero weather like Cody Wyoming
You have it really nailed it... Sad truth.
You're forgetting that Northern Californians are a bunch of ranchers and farmers. They are as rugged as they come. Not all of CA is city dwellers.
Coeur d'Alene Place and all the other cookie cutter subs aren’t being built for those kind of people, if they end up moving here.
@@thenorthidahoexperience. FACTS…. Don’t forget about those who lived in the Sierra Nevada Mountains! I’ve seen Snow bury houses there.
Spot on assessment here. This is the cycle that happens to all the good places in the country. Overdevelop, rinse, repeat. I'm 59 and I see it everywhere I go. People will never change. All they care about is that they get theirs.
If you're thinking about moving up here, its cold 8 months out of the year.
and then it’s scorching hot and on fire the rest of the time
With snow and ice and treacherous to walk on.
I would never move to Idaho, but I’m looking to buy two rental properties there!
No it is not! I wish.
Cold & very expensive!!!
Sickening!
It's that way nearly everywhere in Idaho now. Videos like this one only make it worse.
Thanks for the comment!
You can't buy a shed on the corner for $58k
The problem is that even if they assimilate, they’re still here. Just try to go camping or go on a hike. The whole state is completely overrun. My entire life, I’ve been able to just venture out and not see another soul, but those days are long gone and they aren’t coming back. I had planned on living here and raising my kids here for the entirety of my life and now we are considering other places. It’s been very disheartening to see my lovely home bludgeoned to death by an onslaught of newcomers. Enjoy the festering corpse of a once great state.
Athol. I flew a sail plane at that airport when I lived in Mullan back in the mid 70's.
Yep, 1-3 metro areas 10%
of the land mass can carry 90% of the remaining land mass, also big cities are easier to game the vote forever
Also 1llegals are counted in census which gains lib states more seats in the house of representatives which in turn makes policy for the entire nation
Good luck.
That is a big fear of mine as well. I don't want to be governed by a large metropolis that doesn't share my values
True
Great comment, thank you for that info
Stop posting on Idaho we don't need the publicity
It's already out there-
Completely agree.
Yup
Wow; that could come as a shock. Cold and wet to hot and dry! but there's a lot of open (BLM) land free to explore where basically none in Western Washington where even the beaches are privately owned (down to mean low tide if I remember right)
Same here. Washington has way to many corruption and the people asleep.

Rent 2 bedroom apartment is about $3200 a month (just got my renewal for that. It was $2200 when we moved in 4 years ago)
Cheapest home listed in my zip code is (3 bed 2 bath, 1400 sq ft) $1,025,000. It's also the only listing under 2 million.
Electric 50-60 cents per kw, vs 8-10 in Idaho (electric bill is 5-6x as much here)

What are the income level comparisons?
@@SIUDubFiendMedian Income is 98k in San Diego vs 65k mentioned in video.
Traffics getting bad.
The prices went up quickly after that
Housing cost going up 160% in ten years sounds good, try 300-500% in the last couple of years in SoCal
Oh dang! That is crazy
Too conservative??? If you love Communism, please come back to California!
Cali can have them
Even Hayden is growing so much. Hayden Canyon construction is underway and is going to be 610 acres of homes etc. I was so bummed when I saw that it was approved. I escaped the big city in Kommiefornia and now its coming here. Keep Idaho naturally wild and free, please!
Agreed. There will be more coming as well.
Government way is a nightmare if you live in those neighborhoods. All these greedy developers started throwing up shitshacks without thinking or I should say giving a shit about the people that live there and the infrastructure of roads and such. What state did you move to? @@Davidmiller-fx9zp
Thank you
Keep people from moving to Idaho, .
Not sure how to do that
I really miss living in Idaho and their freedom loving people.
It's the best
ID gun laws could be better for a State that claims to be so conservative.

It’s all in your head. Too much TV news.

The butchering of a child in her mother’s womb is the ultimate violence, degradation and violation of a woman. Abortion is a depopulation tool as well as a vicious demonic attack on innocent children, the family and our nation. @@jamesperkins5468 I should add that leftist jurisdictions are anything but “ inclusive “. That’s the line they feed you until they’re in full control. In Portland it is unsafe to express who you want for president if it isn’t the democrat. "Don't California my Idaho"
The only reason Idaho is conservative is because Orange County conservatives colonized our state in the 1980s.
Great comment and 100% accurate
If those who want to leave Idaho by all means do so.
I agree.

Idaho has always neen Red. But ive always been a democrat
I don't know any disrespectful people. Maybe it's the democrats here that are that way...
Thank you for this excellent information!
Glad it was helpful!
It's California lite. Expensive real estate. Unattractive sprawl development. A bit too right wing?
Depends what part of the state…
The comments have been great to read.
Be careful of anywhere in Oregon because extreme left dictates and policies such as legalization of drugs, sanctuary state impact the entire state.
Well, I am in So. Cal. A Trump Republican and considering a move. I was thinking Montana, and have to pass through Idaho to get there. But you never know, per haps an I da HO could change my mind.
I see what you did there 😉
I lived 5 1/2 years in SE Idaho in Pocatello. l Loved every single day of it. Entire state is beautiful..
Glad to hear that!
And the people are the best part of it.
It would be nice if you left idaho
Why? I'm a nice person and I do a lot for this community. Why should I leave? Am I not free to live wherever I want in America?
We've seen that up here for sure. Developers always seem to get the green light.
You shoulda asked for the foot rub
@@thenorthidahoexperience Not from Bieter. He's an odd duck. LOL
Rigged elections ....the vote didn't represent the peoples choice.... The truth will come out....
I didn't watch the video yet, but I bet people are leaving because of the racism, low wages, and lack of a good education system.
That's why I left.
Racism? I haven’t seen that at all
Great video as always. We appreciate the perspectives. We can’t wait to move there and contribute to the community.
Thanks! Can't wait to have you here!
4:32 There are different shades of red.
Ok, thanks
Check out the air quality. We get a lot of smoke filled days throughout the summer. The wind carries the smoke from fires in Canada, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, etc. if you have Asthma or other respiratory issues think twice. Air quality during the summer can be difficult 😥
Thankfully it is usually for a short period, but can definitely be an issue.
Your videos are so well researched and full of useful information and you present it in a way that it feels personal and not a boring "documentary" type. Thanks Seth!
Thanks for the kind words!
I’m the conservative Californian looking. I was born in Montana so hopefully I can find a sticker to put on my car saying that 😅
lol, good idea. Give us a holler
Info@yournorthidahoagent.com
This is spot on. Well done sir
Thanks!
Englishman here. Hearing Idaho turning even _more_ Red...
....makes me want to move there.
It makes a lot of people want to move here…stay safe over there…
Leaving because the 269 Chinese are in military training camp’s they have built.
hmmm
Training camp where?
Look into St Maries Idaho, if you want a sleepy, old Idaho town.
Good call, great little town
Drive the left out. Go live on the left coast
They don't like it here- it's too free
They’d be bored in Idaho. No dope store, vape shop, tattoo parlor, strip club, liquor store nor bar on every corner.
It's more expensive than most people think
Thanks Chris! I fully understand your dislike of Newsom...
It'll be interesting to see how things look next year
Idaho doesn't want people from California. Stay in your crappy state
@@thenorthidahoexperience Unfortunately, CA Governor elections are not until 2026.😢
Fish and Game recommends not eating the fish in Coeur d'Alene lake and many other bodies of water in Idaho! The So called the gem state is in reality the germ state and that’s why I’m leaving! Farming and mining the snake is a septic tank☠️!
Good to know. Thanks
My wife’s liberal sibling talked about moving here… videos like this helped me keep her away.
Glad we could be of service!
Thank you for the comment.
Prices are crazy in CDA Idaho....I'm leaving !!!
Totally understand. Where are you going?
I laughed when someone told me don't California my Arizona. I am Republic the ones that say that are ignorant AF.
Agreed. It's not about where you come from. That means nothing
True
I came from NorCal. I love North Idaho, not any different from the mountains I lived in. LOVE the Snow!! Athol is great!
Athol is one of my favorite places
Also, as i had the misfortune of finding out, if you need medical care Kootenai Health will spend more time complaining about the excess population than actually providing medical care, be prepared to hear "there art too many people who have moved here" and "you really have to be your own advocate" during at least half of your interactions with them.
Bummer
sad about resort areas...... the locals cant afford to live close to where they work .have to drive 1hr weather conditions or summer traffic my fav area is north of Idaho falls , south of Pocatello , close to to the city but far enough away
That does create challenges
We love to Visit Challis for the BBR, but it gets too cold for this Southerner, we currently live at the 38th parallel, on the West Coast, but are moving to the 35th Parallel in Oklahoma!
there's a big difference between and Idaho conservative and a freshly relocated California conservatives... ultimately these political refugees still end up moving the needle to the left in Idaho
I don't think there are any facts to support that
Born here, my family has been on the same land since 1906 and I ain’t going anywhere. I’ve been sick of the nutcases moving in for years but if you move here, shut up about your politics, save it for Election Day and quit telling me how to live. Then we might get along.
That's great. I think you'll find that almost everyone moving here is easy to get along with
@@thenorthidahoexperience That hasn’t been my experience so far.
Love your content but not so much encouraging more immigration to Idaho even having a real estate team to help out. Just my opinion
Thanks. I don't think I'm encouraging anyone who isn't already thinking about it. I DO try to attract the RIGHT people and deter the wrong ones.
Please do! Thank you, sounds like you are our kind of people!
maybe if enough move out. the home prices will drop to a price i can afford.
Probably not that many moving out...
Hopefully the Dems are the ones leaving.
They don't like it here...too much freedom
Conservative? Homelessness is not a liberal-conservative phenomenon. There are more homeless in cities because that is where social services are disproportionately located…and conservative rural indigent consistently migrate to cities for that reason. Absurd suggestion that homelessness is a liberal ‘policy’. Just like cretinism is not a conservative policy position.
I stand by my claim. It is 100% worse in liberal cities due to the policies. Ask any street cop and they will explain why.
WE DID 23 YRS AGO CAUSE OF THE PEACE AND QUIET TRAINS DONT BOTHER US AT ALL WERE USED TOEM
Good to know!
You mean invaders
Calling it a freedom bird is very political and causes you problems. You want to be a mad hypocrite and don't care. That is more entertainment for me. I dont live with you. I suppose this will drive up the price of potatoes in the US, but that is not my problem.
If someone gets offended at the term "freedom bird" then they would not like it up here
@@thenorthidahoexperience I'm sure many won't like it up there. An Irish potato will suit me just fine. By the way I giving you the 'freedom bird' as I type. Feel free to pass it along to your neighbors.
I think outsiders see north Idaho and other parts of the state at its best and not at its worst.
Often the case
Local people hate you for moving there. Really.
Some do
I've been looking to move to Boundry County for quite a while now.
It has gotten expensive
@@thenorthidahoexperience Ya don't say. Idaho would be nice but not that nice.
I think the roads are very congested in northern Idaho compared to Montana but I like the lakes in Idaho
They can be for sure
Expensive housing?! It sounded good until I heard that part.
It's the truth
@thenorthidahoexperience Bummer, love it but looking elsewhere...
One item you missed is that our labor and delivery doctors are all moving out of state so they don't get accused of a crime for saving a mother's life. So if you plan to have children, you should probably do so in a free state before moving here. Otherwise you might not be able to find a doctor.
Pretty sure there's an exemption when it comes to saving the mother's life
Red herring alert!
Nobody is leaving Idaho😂 it takes me 30 minutes to go 1 mile. Its insane.
LOL, maybe on 95 northbound out of CDA...
It has gotten expensive. I understand that for sure
Californians did the same to Portland real estate in the late ‘80’s and brought gang life with them as well.
