Robin Wood has inspired so many, and myself, with his passion and practice. He’s brought the simple pole lathe and ‘slow turning’ back into modern times.
I just watched this chap on a tv program called in the country . He stated that a few years ago he was the only foot powered lathe Turner in the world . That is totally untrue . They do not use pole lathes but there are a myriad of lathes by foot in the USA . I WOULD LIKE HIM to be right as It is am English but Ii be as m afraid he is wrong . Good luck to him though .
My understanding is it is incorrect to say no one used this method Pole lathes are commonly seen at woodturning shows in the Uk and turning tool manufacturers sell pole lathe tools
Pole lathes for spindles yes, but at the time Robin started turning bowls he was the only one. More pole lathe bowl turners sprang up shortly after of course, but Robin led the way.
This man is a living legend. There's no many videos on RUclips of him, thanks for this bro
