I think this new era of Linkin Park is gonna be a new era also for the hole Rock world and its a new begining to generations of music . This is the way and Rock is not dead at all.
I appreciate your thoughtful and fair take on the album. As a longtime Linkin Park fan, your observation that a few songs are kind of skippable is true even for my favorite albums of theirs. They have so much variety and not every song is for everyone, but overall what an accomplishment to be putting out albums that have something for almost everyone. As much as I am obsessed with Hybrid Theory and Meteora like everyone else (it was the soundtrack to my teens), I found myself most enjoying the vibey songs on this album most (Over Each Other, Overflow, Good Things Go) and as an unashamed One More Light apologist, I hope to see that element creep more into the inevitable B-sides to this album as the next year rolls out.
one thing i realised is that the end of 'Good Things Go' with the kind of gospel or whatever loops directly into the intro. Not the first time someone does that but i always love touches like that

The emptiness machine has become *maybe* my favorite Linkin Park song of all time. The structure and flow of it, with its narrative as well where the whole song basically "reveals" Emily, and the lyrics themselves are so fragile and vulnerable in the context of her as a new leading singer and the band's return. It really is between that and Given Up for me.
