  • @WilliamMoser

    I limited the fastest speed to "1500 RPM" but this was still too fast for the relays to respond, hence the stupid(er) noises. Doesn't really sound like a V8

    • @HorsepowerKingscom
      @HorsepowerKingscom 8 лет назад +8

      Using LED's would fix that! still looks cool though.

    • @WilliamMoser
      @WilliamMoser  8 лет назад +13

      +HorsepowerKings.com LEDs would make the light go on and off quicker, but the relays wouldn't react any faster, in fact the relays don't actually switch anything, the light globes and relays are driven by the same transistor outputs. might do a few more of these some day.

    wow this got views fast, nothing for 11 months and then two thousand views in a few days, wonder how that happened? must have got posted on a forum or something.
    The wiring is simple but when you have 8 of everything it needs a bit of management. the sequencing is done by an arduino with a simple program and I used an IC with a bunch of transistors on it to switch 12 volts, this drives the globes and relays.
    Don't have a wiring diagram handy, but talk to you local maker or electronics whizz and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

      I got here by searching RUclips for "even firing v8". I was wondering if any engines besides Ferrari and the Vodoo Ford were flat plane and even firing. By the way, can you do videos of the 2004-2008 even firing Lamboghini V8 vs the 2009+ odd firing Lamborghini/Audi V10? Let me correct that: I got here by watching the Ferrari video, then I sequentially watched all of the other ones that you made. :-)

    Are those relays switching the current? Or do they drive transistors?
    At the current of those lamps they would burn our rather fast I suppose...

    • @WilliamMoser
      @WilliamMoser  3 года назад

      I can't remember, but I think the relays and the bulbs were driven by the same transistors so I could turn the noise off if required. Does turning lights on and off make them burn out faster? thought that was an old dad's tale.

    • @TheRailroad99
      @TheRailroad99 3 года назад

      @@WilliamMoser not sure but I don't think so. (Not when done so fast. Only when they are still cold, the risk they burn out is rather high because of huge inrush currents then.)
      But the relay is going to burn out rather fast when it is in series with the light bulb. Every time it turns on the lamp there will be a tiny spark within the relay and after some time the contacts wear out. When switching very fast this of course happens quicker.
      But when they are in parallel (like you said) they will happily last years :).
