I've had my phone for five years, everytime someone finds out they honestly look disgusted. Whereas i feel like phones should last this long at a minimum (especially considering how expensive they've become).
I had my last phone for a year. I haven't had a phone longer than that since 2016 (yay for planned obsolescence). It is so sad that the average phone is replaced that often.
1 hour power walk a day being alone with your thoughts, even if they are uncomfortable. Take in the sun when it is out, listen to nature. Make it consistent, everyday get out of bed and do your walk. Write three pages a day of absolutely anything that comes into your head. Do not reread it, do not be perfect, just dump your brain into the paper. Walking and journalling are so wonderful for your soul💖
Gotta celebrate the small wins. Yesterday we bought some food while out then I remembered that I didn't pack our "to go" bag so no silverware. Do I go ask for plasticware? Eeek. There was a thrift store next door, bought some metal spoons and the clerk just gave them to me! Like the earth was thanking me. 😊
I love being sustainable, but burn out is definitely real. With the cost of living it’s made it harder and seeing the bulk stores disappear is so sad 😢. But I’m taking shit into my own hands, now growing my own fruit and veg, putting my big garden to use, and learning to preserve and sew, really enjoying the old ways lately ❤
Yes to washing at cooler temperatures on the regular! As long as you don't have any people with certain acute or chronic health issues in your household, it's even fine to wash towels and bed linens at 30°C most of the time. But I would also advise to do a hot load (60°C) every now and then to keep your towels and linens fresh and odour free and prevent the build up of nasty bio film and germs in your machine. Keeping your textiles and appliances usable is a matter of sustainability too. Also, use the time saver button on your washing machine and on your dish washer as little as possible as this uses way more energy than the regular runtime of the given program would.
First of all I have to say you look beautiful !!😍 You inspire me a lot with your videos.🥰 I'm also often frustrated because I still buy so many things wrapped in plastic.😕 I've already reduced it quite a bit and also buy a few things in bulk stores or try to do without plastic in the bathroom or kitchen, but finances and everyday life often don't make it easy for you.😔 That's why it's good to see that you're not perfect either, and when many people take small steps, you achieve something.💚
your enthusiasm and aesthetic are so magnetic. both are captivating, so naturally effortless…you have me completely addicted to your content. i love videos like this where we can peek into your living space and see your latest endeavours of life…you know how to live life beautifully and in style….(and your colour palette is on point) …..that you accomplish all of this in secondhand acquisitions….is what makes it all the more amazing! whatever you post, i will watch. keep smiling beautiful gurl!
One thing that I'm struggling with is keeping expired makeup and skincare. They all say 6-12 months use and I have sensitive skin and I feel bad throwing it away but using expired stuff isn't good for health.
You could use them as paint in arts and craft activities or if your skin can handle it just use creams and lotions to shave if you do but I’m sure you can just mix some pigment into it and make it into something else.
lmao my friend let me take like a half a teaspoon of her foundation and i store it in… an old take-out salad dressing container not sure if it’s embarrassing or genius, but it works for me!
I have the same issue. I never throw out makeup in time. From what i understand powders are generally less likely to grow bacteria as liquids and creams. What also helps is making sure all the brushes and sponges used are clean and not putting dirty hands in product jars. But for me the main goal is trying to keep the number of products as low as possible. I am more likely tonuse things up if i don't own a huge amount of stuff. And i always throw things out if i start having doubts about them or if they change in colour, smell, texture etc
I try to treat those products like the food I consume. As long as it smells and looks good and doesn't sting or give any other weird sensation I'm going to use it. The yoghurt in my fridge also gets eaten even though the best before date was maybe one or two weeks ago 😅 but you do you
I'm not sure how sustainable it is, especially considering their shows with loads of pyrotechnics, but Rammstein had pеn1s shaped soap in their official fan shop. (I'm censoring the word p*n1s because YT is strange, not because I think it should be censored, it's anatomical term ffs, but just in case.) And as always, I'm here for the vlog-type content, I actually think you're an amazing vlogger.
I have chronic fatigue syndrone and have had to let so many of my habits go. I don't go to my bulk food store so much because it is so far away and exhausts me but my local Indian store has so many spices in large packets, which are the same as what I was seeing them refill at the bulk food store with anyway ! but when I go to my bulk food store I reallllyyy stock up now.
I have a list for when I am burnt out, it is a list of things I love and it goes in order from the easiest thing to longer activities. 1. Tea 2. Get changed into comfy clothes 3. ... you get the idea. I have some cozy hobbies too and this usually grounds me for the day and helps me reset.
Oh I love love love your apartment. I find myself in the same situation with stuff. Love trinkets, plants, toys, art, decorations, etc all over. But I always feel it's not eco friendly but it is. Cause most of it was found in second hand shops, garbage cans, upcycled, or gifts. Seeing how lovely your home is makes me think it is 💯 possible to be eco friendly but still have a cool ass home like yours! :)
Many things do not always equal overconsumption but we basically only see those minimalist, tidy homes in the sustainability space so it is easy to feel bad of our homes do not look like that, but sustainability is not an aesthetic 💚🌿
🤍🤍🤍 A fitness youtuber that I'm watching was saying recently that he will be doing more Vlogs from now on and less workout content. If somebody wants to see workout content they are welcome to look on his page since he did already do a lot of workout videos and that's just what's motivating him right now.. Was thinking about that when you said you don't feel like doing a well researched video for right now. That's fine! We'll be here either way :) Don't beat yourself up. You might feel uninspired but this video is one of my favourites from the recent past 😊 question about the bike, I also have an electric bike but often think what about the battery at the end of its lifespan? Is it worth it? Since I have my bike I rarely drive my car, but I do have a battery to get tis of in a couple of years. I would love to see the daily kitchen cleaning routine in detail, and also a video of growing herbs with some tips ❤️
My husband is a software engineer and the only technology stuff he gets new is his work laptop, it's very high end and it's a requirement for work, he doesn't pay for it and he keeps it for 4 years or more which in the tech industry is long. Our other devices are all second hand 😊. And we usually keep them for a really long time.
Thanks for your video! I like all your videos and your commitment to zero waste life. Keep up the good work! You can find the soap shape you are looking for at Rammstein’s shop at the bathroom section.

Enjoyed the video, and glad to have a space to feel okay in the burnout. I live in rural Korea right now and have been feeling burnout regarding diet and packaging. I’ve followed a vegetarian diet for nearly three years now, and in Korean cuisine it is a constant quest to find the options that haven’t got some sort of meat or fish in it. I have no plans to start eating fish or meat (though I briefly considered a pescatarian diet, as fish consumed would have less impact in Korea, as it’s a peninsula, than it would in Midwest USA where I’m from) but there are moments when I feel very tired and up against the culture by constantly having to ask what is in food people offer me, and having to turn it down if there’s even a small amount of fish oil, imitation crab, etc. Many people here don’t understand what is vegetarian and what is not (fish oil or meat broth might not be seen as a problem for them). And as far as I’m aware, the word for “vegan” and “vegetarian” is the same in Korean (the vocab may be evolving, but I am not sure). So it has been a struggle. For packaging, I’ve just had to admit that there is almost no escaping plastic packaging here, and be content in that my dietary choices are the impact I can make right now, and to make small bulk choices when possible. (Small example, but I eat a lot of dried seaweed, so buying one bigger bag instead of four smaller ones is the best I can do.) Otherwise, while many household products I’ve had to buy new and not super sustainable ones, there are several things I’ve brought from home, including shampoo bars, a menstrual cup, and I’ve managed to find an ethical skincare brand (plastic containers, unfortunately, but most products are vegan) and secondhand stores in a nearby city for clothing. So these are ways I try to remind myself, especially in times of burnout, that I’m doing SOMETHING. I hope anyone else who is feeling burnout can look around and remind themselves of what they are already doing. ❤
@@sophiaazevedo4013 thank you so much, I appreciate that 😊 I’m here as an English teacher, and one of the other native English teachers in town (there are five of is) is also vegetarian which has helped immensely as far as hanging out with the other native teachers and finding vegetarian options in town, but I’ve heard of some folks who come here vegetarian and quickly change their diet 😅
Recently I had some problems with my solid shampoo and I even considered going back to plastic bottles 😢 after washing my hair is often sticky and waxy. I don't think it is a hard water problem since I traveled and been using the same shampoo and this still happens. I tried different shampoo bars and it doesn't seem to work. Maybe it is due to some oils in the shampoo that leaves this residue, but I have dry and wavy hair (full of volume) - similar to Gittemary's and afterwards I'm left with shiny (not in a good way), thin and lifeless hair. Has anyone encountered this problem with using the bar form of shampoo?
I have had this same problem with some kinds of solid schampoo. When I have a kind that have this issue, I do a "vinegar rinse" afterwards and it always works wonders. I usually mix 1/10 vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray that lightly in my hair after using schampoo and let it sit for 1 minute or to and then rinsing it out. I only wash my hair once a week, bit do not know if it is good to use vinegar rinse on hair more often that.
I found that my shampoo bar isn't great with very greasy hair, so when I have the flu (that's when my hair becomes very greasy) I have to wash it twice. Otherwise I have the same waxy feeling as you described (I think). And I always use a conditioner bar to soften my hair. Personally I love a sea mineral shampoo bar and a conditioner bar with camomile
I for example have to use a medical shampoo and it only comes in a botlle. Sometimes you can't go the zero waste way. I did "train" my hair and only washe them once a week so one bottle lasts longer. Bar shampoo was awful for my dermatitis.
New-ish to using it, but from what i've read it comes down to ingredients and that a lot of shampoo bars are really just soap. Get one that contains some form of surfactant (or a few) to effectively clean your hair. I definitely experienced one that made my hair super greasy and gross and didn't try again until years later. Did some reading this time, found a post on the blog Sustainably Lazy about shampoo bars and hard water (but applies for non hard water too). Hope that helps! Been using bars from Notice, and i don't find my hair stays clean as long as the bottled one i was using but there's no residue and it still does the job.

Thank you - and yeah, a genitalia themed bathroom should really be life goals 😂😎🤌
I loved your video on minimalism. I’d love if you could delve into eco-maximalism more and how to create a maximalist space sustainably 😊😊
noted, I think it could be really interesting to talk more about that ☺️
Oooh this is such a good idea!
It’s nice to know others sometimes struggle with sustainability, too. You’ve encouraged me to persevere. 😊
gotta be real here and I think we should talk about it when we feel less motivated than usual, it doesn’t mean we’re bad environmentalists 💚🌿
We juice berries and the leftover pulp is a great smoothie base. We mash it in a food processor (or equivalent) and put it in the freezer.

Why do you think that the bulk stores in Denmark are closing down? I would love to know what is driving this.
Funding/finance, after covid a lot of small businesses struggled, so I think that might have been the reason 😟

Could you do a video on how to stop mindless shopping or shopping for the maybe future (if that makes sense)? I need help with this! ❤
I have a video about the “treat yourself” phenomenon, perhaps give that a watch ☺️?
Hannah Louise Poston talks a lot about how she quit her shopping addiction and how she continues to moderate her “love of beautiful things”
Great video! Very down to earth, just what I needed! ❤
