Regarding the "defined their sound" comment you mentioned - I'm with you, Saeed. Tool seems to have always known their sound... if anything, they have continued to build and refine it over time. They have never not sounded like them, nor have they sacrificed their art to appease anyone.
And, in point of fact, they’ve done everything they can to protect it. Even taking a much smaller record deal than they could have gotten in order to maintain control of their sound
To me they definitely have a unique sound that i have not heard before. And like you said they build and refine over time, but it was always their sound. At least it seems that way to a newb like me 😅
Awesome Reaction! This song reminds to make a conscience effort to avoid bad attitudes, behavior or addictions. It is so easy to give into hate, anger, selfishness or that habit, but then the undertow grabs and pulls you under. It is a daily struggle choosing higher values over comfortable habits. Spiral Out 🌀🌀🌀
Hey man. Glad you made it to Undertow finally! Review those lyrics and notice how every verse the undertow gets darker and more sinister. The adjectives he uses get darker every time. The mind control at the end is just that. It’s the undertow coming back to snatch the Euphoria away again.
I think you will enjoy it. Not to mention Maynard's other bands Puscifer and A Perfect Circle are worth checking out as well. I am a big fan of KoRn myself just do not jump in like a lot of reactors do with them and the song Daddy because it is a HARD song for even big fans to listen to. Do something more fun like freak on a leash. Enjoying your content!
my guy thinks dannys drumming will make him the Manchurian candidate, NICE, love the reactions man, awesome seeing someones reaction to my teenage years music and loving it!
Srsly! I’m not a lyrics guy but after 1000s of listens it’s crazy how dark and dire this album is. You might have the times of your life with substances , but the addiction. The further you go, it takes more to reach that high and its Undertow keeps pulling you further away from safety. Feeling the struggle, the calm, and drowning in the song. Next to Alice In Chains I haven’t heard anything so gloomy. Yay 90s!
My 2nd favorite album bc of the raw grit. If it wasn’t for that masterpiece Lateralus… you mentioned the cheat code again with the drums. They call it sacred geometry. And Danny, you can say is “inspired” by his rituals. 2:23 first strong riptide 4:32 caught a second breath, make it out alive 4:59 drugs don’t work no moe 1/2 as high 7:37 double dose it 7:53 looking grim!

@@SaeedReacts. they’ve definitely always known who they are. So rare.

I definitely need to go back and liste multiple times. What a song! Thanks for sharing that insight.
Tool is a great band for sure. I have seen them in concert a few times and it is an expierence!

His drummin definitely puts me in a altered mindstate :)
Thanks for watching!
Have you checked out their first EP, Opiate? They recently re-recorded the title track, and it's cool to hear their first song old/new back to back.
I have not. Thanks for letting me know about that one.
You SHOULD do the albums in order to see the progression 😊❤
That would ofcourse be the ideal way. And in regular life i would do it that way. Its kind of refreshing jumping around like this.
Invincible from the newest album next!!!!👍
YES!
I might just do that 😄

They are hijacking my brain 😅. All jokes aside, they are so good. Loved this one.
Not sure how i missed this one. Im catching up now
Lets goo! Have a good weekend, my friend!
Folks need to stop putting goofy faces as the stills for their reaction videos. They actually make me not click the video.
I would love that. But sadly the general audience does click more on the goofy faces 😅
