I miss the Keys so much. Spent a lot of time there from 2000-2008. I really wish i would have bought a small house there back then. Woulda shoulda coulda right. Love your videos in the Keys, and your NY content just as much.
What a coincidence dude, was just watching some of your older spider crab vids and showing em to my GF, gotta spread the channel lol. Actually been binging your vids all day! Any chance we could see a BTS of the restaurant one day? I absolutely love the channel Eater for all the series they do on the farms, restaurants, foraging etc and you're already doing 2/3rd of that, hahaha.
Glad you’re back. Just had a guy from Maryland stop buy my shop in Tampa to buy some old lures before heading home. He was in Key West for the power boat races. I mentioned y’all. He watches all you & Aarons videos. Small world.
Good to see you back in Key West Will thought you were staying in New York nice spider crab shell looked real hard fish looked real tasty nice video catch you on the next one.
You want muddy brown shells. They aren't new ones. Recipe looked good. That reminds me....I have a butane burner that I got several years ago for power outages and emergencies(and a pile of butane). I need to make sure I know how to cook on it! Have a great week!
Great video Will! Your catching is always entertaining but definitely an adventure. And that is how it works for the masses, love it. That spring roll wrapper thing was pretty cool, but your plate looks absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing!!!
For our Italian Christmas dinner, we always do a spaghetti where we cook a whole dungenuss crab in the sauce. The flavor it adds is a mind fuck. I always wanted to try it with spider crab since it’s under less pressure. I did your crab cake recipe with them and it was phenomenal.
How neat Will. Floaters is a new one for me. Thanks for the recipe. Quick question. Aaron showed a snippet of his wedding and it sure looked like you were the officiant for them. Am I right? Keep those vids coming. Glad you’re back.
Hey brotherino! Good to see ya back in the keys. All the back home vids were awesome too! Since you spend alot of time in the keys are you losing your cold tolerance from back home when you head home and its chilly there, lol? I couldnt imagine being in florida for so long and coming back to our winters here in canada. Ha ha The winter never gets easier living in my climate for my whole life but we definitely have a better tolerance for it than those that live in a sunny and warm destination. It still sucks for us anyways thats for sure. Keep on putting em out man cuz we love ya!!!
I don't understand how the claw meat can disappear. I was down after Christmas with my wife, and we drove up to Tavenier to lobster dive with Conch Repub. While pulling in Lobsters, I noticed this extremely large Carribean King Crab (I am a bit arachnophobic and was startled). I noticed some video's earlier in the year of divers harvesting them. After harvesting 6 lobster, and the crab (also shot some squirrel fish that I consumed to test) we drove back up through Tampa on our way home to North Texas, and stopped at my mothers. We cooked the lobster, and King Crab. We ate one lobster, and my mother planned on eating the crab later, and put it in the fridge. She later told me that the crab was hallow. I didn't understand how that was possible until just now (thank you for the explanation). Odd, as the crab did attempt to pinch me (or so I thought), but then I am a little arachnophobic :).
A floater or a crab with little meat is a crab that has just shed and has not grown into its new shell. That's why you never keep a really clean looking crab. The ones with growth and stains on the light part of there shell almost always have full shells.
@@CookingWithClams nice! Im glad you like it. It’s our favorite and I’m always hesitant to introduce it to non Asian people because of the ‘deliciousness’ of it!
Do you have any recommendation for a field fish fillet knife, one for fairly large to medium sized fish? I still need to go back and refresh my memory on your knife sharpening video too
Aloha. First of all, sorry for the floater. Did you fry the rice wraps just for the texture, cause I know they’re not usually used that way? Did your 10$ garage sale propane stove give up the ghost? But more importantly, I think it’s extraordinary that you chartered a captain, became friends, became roommates (as a third wheel), have remained friends, and they asked you to offiate their wedding! I usually lose friends just by the roommates part. Good on you!
Will what rule are you referring to? I regularly shore dive in marathon and Islamorada. The only regulation I’m aware of is no diving around improved shoreline during mini season and some areas a few days into regular season. What am I missing?
“During the July two-day sport season (July 26-27, 2023) and regular lobster season (Aug. 6, 2023-March 31, 2024) no snorkeling or diving is allowed within 300 feet of residential or commercial shoreline.” This spot is neither yet in my last video I got a ton of comments saying what I was doing was illegal. I’ve had fwc stops there during mini season to check my bag and say that area is fair game.
@@CookingWithClams assuming this is the general key west area, or other unincorporated areas, that rule only applies for the first 5 days of regular season. But I think I get what you’re saying now, your other video (during mini) got a bunch of comments…. Yeah you’re 100% right. Commercial or residential improved. Unless they are calling that cutout in the mangroves as “improved” 😂…. You’re 100% legal.
I’m always blown away hearing people have to explain themselves to a bunch of haters. People are really that bitter with their own life they watch these videos to judge and nitpick instead of breaking away to just enjoy. I always look forward to your videos. Never once second guessed you or anyone else(Aaron, bluegabe, deermeat) for illegally hunting or fishing. I rewatch all your old videos while I’m cooking just because I enjoy em that much. F¥ck the haters Will. Keep doing what you do
Hey man I realized you have like “asian plants in your backyard, and youre cooking is like thai, vietnamese inspired. Do you or did you have an asian gf wife or something? Or been to asia? I just wanna feed my observations ahah
No to all, I just think Asian flavor profiles really lend themselves beautifully to seafood. I do cook a lot of Sicilian and Italian style cooking as well on the channel

bro, that was a crazy wrapper! I never saw that coming...hahahah!
The way they instantly puff
Woohoo, back in the Keys. Life is good!!!
Back baby!
Great video! I enjoyed your NY episodes but there’s just something about the Key West scenery…so peaceful. Glad you’re back.
It’s a magical place
Glad to see you back and thanks for telling us what you do for retirement 😊
Haha if only
That was a cool trick on the Rice wrapper, never knew that one! Got to try it!👍
Like a tortilla chip made out of air
Nice to see you officiate the wedding! Nice dish!
It was a huge moment in my life
kittys, crabs, and clams. Perfect video for the night.
Short n sweet…. Like the crab haha
These videos are great. Thank you for teaching this Ohioan how to cook something other than perch and walleye. 👍
This one was pretty simple. It doesn’t take much to make crab delicious

Thank you Tommy, I try to keep it interesting
Welcome back! I’ve got more Hatch Red and Green if you’d like some. Just let me know.
Oh wow! I still have that giant bag of powder!
That is a pretty good spot. Excellent recipe.
Unfortunately it gets hammered by commercial fisherman

Hey will been away from the channel for a couple weeks congrats on 15k subs man! Great recipe per usual
Welcome back! You got some catching up to do haha
Good video 😊. Made me hungry again 😊
Perfect
I wonder how well chayote would grow along that fence line. I find your foraging stuff pretty interesting. Thanks!
I appreciate that! I love it but they aren’t the most popular vids
Great video Will! Your catching is always entertaining but definitely an adventure. And that is how it works for the masses, love it. That spring roll wrapper thing was pretty cool, but your plate looks absolutely amazing!

Nice catch. Sorry it was a floater though. Good to see you back in Key West!
Thankfully it was huge so there was enough meat for a meal
As always your cooking looks amazing.
Thank you!!
I love to cook too but you inspire me to be more creative and try new stuff

Ohhhhh maybe I’ll do a sauce next!
Looks yummy Will!
It was a great after dive snack
Thank you! Looked good, I didn't know that spider crab were edible.
Oh yes and delicious

@@CookingWithClams that’s so awesome they had their good friend do that for them. I’m so happy for them.
Great show try steaming the shellfish. Boiling takes out a lot of the fat n flavor
I’ve done it both ways and I like boiling with a little vinegar the most

It’s definitely a mental test. I think I can tolerate the cold more because I know I can leave whenever I want to go back to the sun!
I'm digging the recipe. How about a slice of avocado? Would that fit the flavors I wonder
Avocado fits everything!

Thank you as always
Great stuff. Thanks posting. Mmm, I didn't see a dive flag. FWC are on thier way. Yeah, I called!! Good luck with the judge. Peace..!

Exactly what I said! This one’s belly wasn’t white though…
@CookingWithClams maybe it was identifying as a dirty, full crab but was really a floater. You can never tell these days especially in the keys. Haha
