- We took a break from isolation to make the trip out to Austin, Texas for Optima Batteries’ Hi-Performance Expo at the Circuit of the Americas last November. We’ll be featuring several of our favorite cars from the event so make sure you’re subscribed and getting our notifications!
In this one we have Jake Rozelle and his 2003 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Z06! An engineer by trade Jake has built this Vette into a formidable racecar for Time Attack, autocross and it's still technically a "street car"! This was Mike's favorite sounding car of the whole event so join him as he talks to Jake about all the details of this awesome build!

THIS was exactly what enthusiast want to see in a video interview of a car driver/owner. Extreme details of the owner/driver leading the outcome speaking about the how/why vs. answering canned questions with a short 1 liner.
Couldn't have said it any better. This dude is a baller
Facts!!
Knowledge and money to blow. This guy has life on lock.
BOEING sponsored lol.
@@kenS87 Of course Boeing doesn't sponsor individuals but Jake's got a wealth of engineering resources from coworkers. I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave aerospace and find his niche in the racing business.
@@mchristr His paychecks from Boeing funds his hobby lol.
@@kenS87 well his car does fly 🏎🏎🏎
To me I don't care what anybody says this car sounds way better than the new ZO6 to me my C5 427 sounds better than the new ZO6 and my C4 does too!
Perfect car. Even the color is right. Videos like these have replaced TV for me.
yeah I don't know why anyone would watch TV anymore lol
@@matthewcohen194 hahaha
Both the owner and interviewer know their stuff. Being a corvette guy I KNOW this car is a total package. Really awesome build.
Holy RPM Batman, she sounds great and the engineering isn't bad either!!!
"isn't bad" *:eyeroll:*
I've seen this car in action it changes direction extremely fsst.. whatever Jake is doing as far as dialing it in he does.. he's got some serious money in that car he's always at the top of the leaderboards
OH MY GAWD that's my dream motor for my C5 Z06. I've loved watching Jake's car evolve over the years too. Love it!!!
Best sounding car most likely up there with the LFA
Easily.
omg yes i have a c5 frc and this made me cream
Man what a build a high revving ls has always been on my list
Brooooooo. This is so clean and every mod is thought out. Buddy knows his shit. Niiiice
I saw 8,500 rpm and C5 and I was like "how!?" Then I heard he's got an LS7 😍makes since that sucker revs so high
Sick Vett, just awesome! It’s also soo well thought out!! I wish we saw the valve train components picked out and assembled for this beast, I’m sure Mike could make a 30min interesting video just about how to safely spin a cross-plane OHV, V8 past 8000rpm reliably. Awesome content! Thanx!
Relaxed man talks to hyper buddy. Hyper buddy knows a lot of informstion and gets excited about it. I don't blame him. He's obviously passionate about it.
LS by GM what a great motor. Moto IQ really is an awesome shop for getting all this content up on YT! Great job.
It’s so nice to watch a walk around that isn’t rushed!
Screw the EPA. Cars like this are awesome
Nice to see that Lingenfelter is still around as a tuning company almost 20 years after John died.
I could watch that car for hours. I always thought it should've been made to become like that. What a fine machine.
the pure excitement he exhibits just talking about the car proves how much love he has for Corvettes and Racing. this car is absolutely a monster, and to be street legal is so crazy! i want the build list hahah. i know, i Know i can just write down what he is saying and build from there....
Thank you MOTOIQ honestly for bring some of the best content from the beginning 🙏🏾 All my respect
For me, the best C5 Vette I have seen! Awesome ride, and lots of knowledge from the owner 🙌🏼
I wished Jake made posters of his Corvette. It is very awesome in every single way. Thanks for posting.
That’s got to be the best sounding ls I’ve ever heard
When an engineer likes Corvettes!
Props to this dude. Amazing car and he knows his shit. Isn't just a wheel man. Respect
This has to be my favorite Corvette of all time.. mostly for the engineering workmanship. Please do my C7 just like.
Everything is right with this car; from the engine on....this thing is perfect!!!!! 👌 And I'm a Honda guy!!
Jake Rozelle, that car is amazing. It’s exactly how I would have wanted it built, from C5 to manual trans to NA for the track and the street. Awesome job. Can we be friends! Haha.
Great Interviewer!!
18 minutes and 50 seconds of talking and 1 minute 30 seconds of hearing this beast. That's a problem imo.
That owner is knowledgeable, well spoken and enthusiastic...a lethal combination.
That car has an AMAZING amount of detail!
incredibly talented guys and super educational conversation, had to subscribe and turn notifications on. for the love of motorsport!
That sound is heavenly and devilish. Good stuff.
I love my C5 Corvette , I hate those fixed head lights! The factory flip up headlights look so much better!
The owner is talking at about 7800 RPM 🤣
I think the EPA would have a lot to say about this being a street car 🤣
This guy knows a lot about corvettes lol
So much passion!!!!
This is awesome. what a dream build
This guy makes me feel completely inadequate with my stock C5Z - how much dough is in that car lol!
Man what a machine
What a build, very unique badass vette
Love the sound of this thing!
Can't even believe it's running mufflers lol, when I saw that I thought, cmonnnn mate show us how she sounds without! xD (put a headphone warning though!)
@@joshstanton267 Probably like shit. Header dumps are ass. They are way to loud, and dont even sound good either.
This guy gets it. I wonder how he will do in CAM-S at scca solo nationals. My guess is pretty good.
This thing rocks!
Outstanding machine
Yes Mike🔥🔥
thats aloooooooooot of work and love
Good review of his car!!
That LS7 is sweet.
Taking notes on getting that sound in my life lol
Must have exotic exhaust notes.
I bet that method of getting all the pulses to combine as early and as fast as possible is the key factor.
Im jealous what an insane c5
He is very well spoken
Holy shit what a build. Amazing car Jake.
This C5 ZO6 has a coilover conversion👍😄👍
imagine this car with an 8-to-1 collector, omg!
On equal lenght headers😍😍😍😍😍
@@omegared8663 yes, yes, and yes.
does sound awesome. That advanced timing from the high octane fuel and high compression...
Dude knows his shit, bad ass build! Nice work!
Well i got a favorite c5 build now! Anyone know where i can find more about this car??
Perfect car
How excellent what a boss
Yes! This made me decide on getting the C5 instead of a C6
thats just a dope ass vette
Insane build. Need some in car footage
When is the article on the rocket antilag and the S2000 coming out?
Theres a guy who experimented trying to put that antilag for his pikes peak build. Search turbine antilag build or reply to my comment so i get u a link
Cool car
The video you made 3 years ago making the ep3 handle, can you do that for an 8th gen civic please!?!?!?!
This is what I think the c8 zo6 will sound like with an exhaust
Sounds nasty as hell!
damn dude 800+ N/A in car taht probably is right at 3k lbs... What a machine... Here I am just trying to get 450 wheel in my C5 lol
This car should be in the definition of “high strung”
A052, good choice in tire
I want a blue c5 z06 with red interior!! And you guys just clowned on that lol
WHOA... This thing sound apeshit crazy!! 🤣 🦍
Makes me appreciate my 8200rpm B16a even more
holy shit!
As a fellow SoCal and Fontana guy glad you got the nose to stay down. I have my eye on a C6 to track. Curios though on how in Cali your able to pass inspection and get tags for the street. Thanks.
I’ve heard a million built LS7’s with ARH long tubes on C5, and C6’s. Not a single one sounds like that. I never thought I would give up my Corsas but I’m going to try those 3” Borlas. That has to be the main contributor along with the catless ARH’s.
Main difference is the x pipe almost immediately after the headers. That's what gives it the super high revving/ exotic tone
Bro. Dont abandon your Corsas. I bet if he had Corsa extremes, it would sound even better. The reason his sounds so good is that early x pipe.
I can't stand autocross type competitions, but GAT DAM, that car is a piece of art!
Cause you're slow lol?
@@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast because autocross can make 2,000hp feel slow
Bananas!
Does the owner of this C5Z have a youtube channel so we can follow this car?
Wowza...now this is car porn. Forget all that exotic stuff.
the sound!!!! Jesus...
Now I want a corvette that revs to 8000rpm
I spy RaceChic in this video!!
Hi Mike.
@18:50 you hear it.
Probably best sounding? No, it is the best sounding.
Omg that screams
“Street car” 😂😂😂 sweet car tho
Awesome, who makes the front splitter you have on it?
Surely this guy has a youtube channel. He has cameras on the car. What's his youtube?
Great Kar Im try E67 on my C5
The guy didn’t know what he had wow you’re so smart
Another fellow aircraft mechanic working on Boeing product. He builds his car exactly how I would build mine if I had the mulah he has lol
Wanted to know more of how he wrapped his dash in the soft Alcantara-like material.
Question, When you run autocourse do they let the competitors drive the course for practice before competition?
Would love to take his setup...and install it in my 2004 Pontiac GTO ls1 t56 car I got....
Sounds really good for a high reving ls
