I’m a teen myself, and now I know better to make healthier food choices for myself. I wish my parents fed me the way you feed your kids. I think they’ll look around them as teens and later as adults, and be thankful for the way you raised them.

We use the story of the “Three Little Pigs” to talk about food with our little ones. We talk about how food is the building materials for our “house” (body and brain) and that different food are like different materials. If you make your whole house out of straw it will fall down when the Big Bad Wolf (stress, sickness etc) comes along. We want most of our house to be made out of bricks (healthy animal proteins and fats), it’s okay if there are some sticks (veggies) and the occasional straw (fruits, birthday cake, holiday cookies), but we need to prioritize the animal foods.

I raised my sons similarly. They are now 22 & 19 and have a very healthy relationship with food. Let me warn you of the downside: it makes parenting harder because when they are sad or upset, you can’t just take them out for a treat to make them feel better. 😂😂😂. I was like, “Oh, crap, I really have to help them address the root of their problem instead of taking them to Starbucks for a muffin.” Haha. Great video!

It's unbelievable that people would say your kids will have an eating disorder! What about the millions of people with celiac disease that have to completely adjust their kitchens and have gluten free cooking areas and constantly label read etc. Being mindful of nutrition should be part of a child's education and upbringing. Good job mamma!

How your feeding your kids is exactly how I am doing it too and it is so freeing to know that our children are learning about nutrition. I love how my daughter knows what carbohydrates are and how protein makes her strong. Fat helps us have full tummies. Her picky eating from just wanting carbs and sugar has made a complete 180. My son has only eaten carnivore with the occasional strawberry. He eats sooo much, his appetite is insane. God bless him haha. He's going to eat me out of house and home.

Courtney, you're a super mom! And brave to be sharing this with the world. I applaud you! I've been a public school teacher for 27 years & I work with the youngest ones from ages 5-8! The crap these poor kids are fed in the public schools makes me cringe. And honestly, the children who bring their own food from home aren't really getting much better. For the most part. Some do not most don't. And I'm telling you, I see the difference in their behaviors, lack of attention, focus & overall mood. And unfortunately their overall academic performance is severely impacted. They'd no prioritizing animal based protein. It's genuinely despicable and truly sad too what the Food Pyramid or My Plate or whatever guidelines are supposed to be followed now in such regulated institutions like public schools, hospitals, rehab clinics, assisted living homes, summer camps, even our troops.
You're doing a phenomenal job as a mom who teaches her kids what should be taught by example in the home. That's what parents are supposed to do. And we all try to teach the best we know to our little ones so they can benefit. We, the teachers notice which families spend time in teaching important things to their kids & which unfortunately, don't & they just seem to leave all the "teaching" to the educators. The education should start from home. You are doing that. Good for you & good for your kiddos! You ROCK! Thanks for your candidness & ALL your videos!! 💘

Husband and I are carnivore for about 3 months now and are slowly transitioning our kids to healthier choices. Prioritizing education through good conversations - love your reminder to pair fruit with a protein! Bought the icecream maker you featured so we could make healthier versions at home occasionally rather than go out for icecream. Sharing a pint versus everyone gets two scoops has been great! Baby steps in hopes of setting the whole family up for better health. Thanks for sharing your journey ❤

Teaching kids at any age, especially when they are young, is never a bad idea. Parents that don't teach their kids anything about the importance of nutrition just isn't the best way. How many of us were raised with zero idea of nutrition?? Ignoring it so you don't "cause your kids damage" isn't the answer. Great video, pal!

First of all, your kids are not going to have an eating disorder because their brains are well-nourished, hormones are balanced, and they are educated on nutrition at a young age. No brain fog so they can think clearly and logically. They will have more fuel to burn so are more likely to choose activities where they can be active and and be happy. Bonus: obesity and the chronic diseases that comes with it is out of the picture, that includes anxiety and depression so they can focus their energy in pursuing the things they are interested in.
You just made their teenage years less challenging (raging hormones, pimples and all.)

Love this video! I’ve done keto for almost 3 years and I’ve slowly changed my kids diets from what they looked like 2 years ago (loads of processed to mostly homemade). We still do a good amount of grains for them tho (organic and unfortified as much as possible), but I’d like to cut back even more. What are your best tips?

Just playing with you a bit here, but still waiting for your homemade "mayonnaise" recipes. If you haven't, you should try it and I bet your kids will love the multitude of different sauces you can make to go with the hamburgers. They will probably like making it with you as well, since it is quick and easy. I make something new about every week. You are so much fun. Your videos always make my day. PS, the carnivore police may be after me as I do put things in my "mayo" like jalapenos, bell peppers, onions, garlic, mustard, and sauerkraut (don't knock it till you try it). I think they will give me a pass on the Blue Cheese and parmesan cheese. Keep it up super mom!😇❤

Get help ! I am unsubscribed now. You really need to address that this has become a purist obsession for you. Cake is not comparable to rat poison?
You say you don’t talk about diet or weight with them but you are definately going to give your children complexes about how they eat like eating meat with fruit? This is super confusing for children. My advice is buy every food group and a large variety of foods. Let them pick what their body wants to eat. Controlling them is just going to cause long term issues with you.

93% of our country is either obese or has some kind of chronic disease. Go and read through the comments of some of Ken Berry's vids. There are many 1000's of testimonials of people who have completely healed their illnesses after getting off the SAD diet and no longer following the gov't guidelines. If you actually do this, there will be no way for you to continue to think this way. Its too compelling. Why bring more kids up on the one of the worst diets for good health? Why not just start them right?

    • @serenasmith-bk8os

Actually cake is comparable to rat poison if you look at the ingredients and what they do to your body.... Sugar = poison. Seed oils = poison. Refined white flour = poison. Artificial flavors and colors = poison.
