    I've just got back from my local hifi store whom had both these projectors so had them side by side. The difference was extremely minute and barely noticeable on 4k content (Black Panther) in there standard settings. BenQ was marginally more natural/consistent across a range of content. Also watched some football and the grass colour was more natural on the BenQ. Some content was a bit more saturated on the UHD51, which was good at times, but unnatural at others. The BenQ was also AUD$600 cheaper ($2600 Vs $3200), so I'd sway towards that. Also watched the UHD65 ($5300), now that was nice, but hard to see double the price.

    I had the Benq HT3550, which I've replaced with the Optoma UHD51A. The Benq might have had the more accurate color, but the fan noise was way too loud. The iris feature on the Benq had annoying light flicking on the screen, when it was turned on. The Optoma has a very sharper image, especially in HDR, more lumens , great color, and lower fan noise. Optoma all the way.

  • @rolandrohde
    @rolandrohde 5 лет назад +9

    Interesting. While the BenQ looks brighter and more colourful, I thought the Optoma showed more details in some shots and also had a calmer, more fluid image...

  • @vagomaniac
    @vagomaniac 5 лет назад +3

    The w2700 has obviously better contrast and colour... Fan noise is worse and lumens are less. I beleive that with a proper calibration and filter in place the optoma could be better.

    SOZ COULDNT MAKE MIND UP WITH IMAGE COMPARISON AS THE FLICKERING GOT IN WAY OF MY OBSEVASTION. ALSO 28DB V 25 DB IS 3DB DIFFERANCE. I BELIEVE 4 DB IS A SOUND DOUBLING IN LOUDNESS SO 3 DB IS A SIGNIFFICANT INCREASE.

    Is the BenQ brighter in reality???? Because in the video the BenQ seems brighter but on paper the optoma has more lumens

    • @AntoG4RS
      @AntoG4RS 4 года назад +7

      From specs the Optoma should be brighter than the Benq (3000 vs 2000 lumens), however all the images from BENQ in this video look brighter (is it because of camera recording settings?). This is a very important question! Without an answer to this, the whole review does not come to a conclusion. This requires to be answered by the author of the video.

  • @CanoNuevaYork
    @CanoNuevaYork 4 года назад +2

    Seems the optoma has more detail especially in the whites and colors than the benq which has more pop but clips some detail. Optoma black levels look to be slightly better as well. Just off these images.

  • @budgettech5526
    @budgettech5526 5 лет назад +1

    The flicker is because the Optoma has motion interpolation and the Benq doesn't have it or if it has it, it is set to off.

  • @chrismitsos6817
    @chrismitsos6817 5 лет назад +1

    Is it just me? the optoma seems to have better blacks which is more crucial.
    The benq on the other hand has more vibrant colors and punchy image.
    How does optoma get deeper blacks on their projectors without a dynamic iris?

  • @wrecktifier1
    @wrecktifier1 4 года назад +2

    So, what do the specs say 500,000 - 1 vs 30,000 - 1 when you don't really see any difference side by side? Be nice if there was a standard test for contrast ratio.
    Blacks look slightly better on Benq if you compare black to black frame on wall and picture is slightly brighter, red looks better on Optoma, other colors look better on Benq.
    Yea, numbers for contrast ratio mean nothing, I guess companies can say what ever they want.

    You rock, keep up the great reviews!
    I think the Optoma had slightly better contrast (the strawberries looked better on the Optoma), and looked a little sharper in some instances, but then as you said the BenQ looked better in HDR and had more detail in other instances, perhaps both could be tweaked in settings, very close.
    Which one handled jutter and had better black levels in your opinion?
    Was dynamic black engaged on the Optoma and iris on the BenQ?

  • @stephanledford9792

    What is confusing with the comparisons is that sometimes the BenQ is on one side of the screen and in the next comparison it is on the other side. Very informative video otherwise.

  • @f.s.212
    @f.s.212 5 лет назад +1

    A big THANK YOU for that comparison, that's what I want to see and it helps a lot to decide what I want to choose. In my dark home cinema (black walls, no light) the BenQ seems to be the right choice. From my opinion the BenQ has the better colors and also the batter black/darker areas. I think I will buy one in autum :-). In the meantime, do you have a chance to compare the BenQ W2700 with the Epson TW9400? Yes, thats in another price range but I'm interesting in seeing both pictures side by side and a lot of people are also thinking about to buy the Epson instead of the BenQ. Would also be an interesting comparison. But again... Great Job man!!

    Please stop doing that subscribe/bell thing, its really annoying...
    To get rid of the flicker, adjust your camera shutter speed up until it goes away and then compensate the exposure with your iris.
    I have tested the optima UHD51 and the W2700, and the W2700 is way better imho. Picture is much better tonemapped then the Optima imo. I returnded the UHD51 after a day of testing. The optima has one fatal flaw, and thats the huge light border because its a older gen DLP chip. Also in my situation the W2700 could generate a slightly bigger screen for my room.
    I also noticed that the uniformity of the UHD51 was more of then the W2700. However, the W2700 has already been in repair because of a split screen bug in the firmware, this can only be fixed by Benq them selves. But i must say i am really happy with it and the service was very good. This all was more then 10 months ago.
    Keep up the good work :-)

The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.
