You need yours ears tested. What is the point in doing these videos if your ears are shot??? The new upgrade was clearer but there was more distortion and the warmth and tube sound was pretty much gone. The original photocell was a bit muddy, but not in a negative way, its analogue for crying out loud, it is supposed to sound warm and fuzzy but never distorted. And therefore from what I heard in your demo, the upgrade is completely pointless. Save your bull and your dosh and stick with the original parts (Even though they might only last a few years, its a cheap bargain basement unit anyway, so you get another one if it does break )
More mids when you shange the optocell! I use the kenetekt4b, shange the tubes to nos-telefunken! The sound is so smooth! This compressor is a little killer "light version LA2". Nice video👍

I can hear an increase in fidelity with a bigger sound.
Handles the louder dynamics much better with no pumping or distortion. I have the IGS LA One 500 and love it. Use it as a limiter and less as a compressor for tracking. Thanks for posting.

I haven’t done the photocell mod, but the biggest and cheapest upgrade is changing the 4uf 400v that’s directly in the signal path to an audiophile version. I also swapped tubes to nos and that gave me around 10db more compression.

It appears the new photocell reacts faster. This may or may not be desirable however based on the material.

I haven't tried the Black Lion, but I'm sure it's better than the stock opto. Why don't give a try to IGS? Costs under 100

Salut. Chiar acum ma gandeam la acelasi lucru. Sa fac un upgrade la T4Bx de la IGS sau T4BLA de la Black Lion. Din ce aud pe youtube diferenta nu e mare. Cred ca se merita mai mult sa investesc in alta clona cum ar fi IGS LA One sau un vari-mu Tube Core (format 500).
Chiar dk eu personal nu am avut, din review-uri reiese ca LA one e un comp f reusit.
@@nimrodmotion Am dat KT2A-ul, urmeaza sa dau si KT76 si acum am trecut pe IGS Tubecore500 si Bluestripe 576.
Desi in momentul de fata IGS nu le mai produce cu transformatoare Carnhill si Sowter, sunt peste Klark Teknik.
Pe viitor poate urmeaza un IGS LA One...

My thoughts also, but not better just louder. I think the original photocell works perfectly. Again, it's about what you are after. Transparent tube comp with transformers?? Who wants that? 😂
