As for moisturizer, I rather use a good vitamin e lotion. Accept the soap for what it is, a cleansing deodorant for your skin. Indeed, there are better soaps but Irish Spring deserves a much better review.
Irish spring is a good soap. It’s perfect for what it does. It’s a deodorant soap meant to strip oils etc. I love it. I use it first in the shower to get me clean. Then I do a second cleanse with Dove Pink bar.
One of the things I love about this soap is you can step out of the shower and be squeaky-clean. Literally.. Run your fingers down your forearms and it's not smooth, it rubs. All that sweat and oil is gone and you're fresh and smelling good. Throw on some Degree deodorant and you're good to go. The ladies always complimented, but more importantly, I felt clean.

Yeah... That rubbing sensation is not a good thing. That means it's drying your skin out. Soap can do a good job of getting you clean and moisturize your skin at the same time. They're not mutually exclusive

You're absolutely correct about the drying aspect of Irish Spring. It's actually part of the reason I use it. My skin is naturally over oily so this cuts it back a bit. I can understand the personal preference against the smell. If you're working an indoor office job and you have to deal with this scent all day, yeah it's over powering and too chemically, but on the flip side, if you're working construction and somebody didn't wear a strong ENOUGH deodorant, you're going to be happy when you're working with Marqius who uses Irish Spring. All in all, a spot on review. It's useful, but only in niche circumstances and situations.
Yup, this is perfect for oily skin because it strips everything off. Super clean feel. Dr. Bronner bars can give you the same feel without the scent, so I have switched to that.
Im 15 and i have used a wide array of body washes and i always go back to irish spring bars. I have used dove but nothing beats irish spring. I like the scent and it doesnt dry out my skin. Its personal opinion
In that case, I would say just go with ivory, ivory soap is even cheaper and it actually works a little better in fact a lot better because Ivory is not really drying it just basically leaves you more neutral and it just has that nice simple fragrance, I actually buy it because it’s useful to have around the house,

This is the soap my dad frequently uses, I can agree with you about the scent, when he would come downstairs after his shower it permeated the entire house. It's a nostalgic scent from my childhood, but I would never use it on myself.

Now, I don't have the best relationship with my Dad, but I use this soap to this day, not for the nostalgic feel, but the smell of the soap is just second to none. I carry my own bar in my pants pocket ALL THE TIME, my kids and FAM and friends say that I always smell clean and when I'm not around they buy the Irish spring soaps just to keep me close

Good video 👍🏽, even though my view on the soap is the complete opposite of yours I do love this soap. The smell of poverty quote hits close to home for me because there was a time when I hit rock bottom and money was as tight as ever. Irish spring was my go to soap back then, even now I can still find the soap for as low as 50 cents. When I use this soap (still do to this day) it reminds me of my financial struggles, and it makes me appreciate the soaps like this can be found at extremely affordable prices. Would I tell people not to buy it?.... No, but I’d recommend people try it out and see how they like it.

I use the irish spring original scent body wash. I have kind of oily face and skin and it gives perfect balance. I like the aloe version scent better but too moisturizing for me. I guess we all have our favorites. I tried them all from dove men plus care to Harry's to method but keep coming back to irish spring. Works best for me
Well maybe you have different skin than me but it literally was the only soap I could use !!! It helped moisturize my skin and smells great . It's literally the only soap on the market I found that works for me 😭 plus the smell reminded me of my dad , he passed away but it was literally the only soap I ever used !!!!
I respect your opinion... however there is no other soap other than Irish spring. I work in the mining business( real mans work) and you can imagine how I return home. It has nothing to do with the money in my pocket, it has everything to do with removing sweat and earth elements from my skin. The dryness comes from the deodorant mixed in with the bar , the amazing smell comes from the garden of eden where the first man was created. Girly men use dove and soft soaps , manly men use Irish spring.

Might cut down on some of the scrubbing , you may want to try, Jack Black's Turbo body bar or Kiehl's Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap .. One of those two used to be 10 dollar but it looks like they're now both 15, Perhaps wait a for sale .
This soap will dry out your skin but I shave it and put it in a bowl in my bathroom and add pine essential oil to it and everyone says my bathroom smells so good and i add a few drops of pine every 2 weeks i change out the soap once a month. Keeps my bathroom smelling so good!

Great soap...the other soaps clean smell fades away 3 minutes after. Just use a moisturizer if it dries your skin out. I think it just smells like clean clothes, not like it smells like oily fries or something, lighten up.
I'm in the UK where Irish Spring isn't available on the market, however, we can get it online and I LOVE the scent of this stuff. Funnily enough, it isn't sold in Ireland either.
Haha, I haven't, will have a look on RUclips for them. It is really odd that Ireland don't have it considering the name. The UK and Ireland have pretty much the same products on the market, and whilst we have plenty of brands that the US has (eg. Dove, Olay, etc) but definitely no Irish Spring (we don't have Ivory either, the closest we have to that is Imperial Leather or one called Simple).
I love your channel found you a while back and subscribed and I recently stocked up on dove white bars and bought a bottle of dove deep moisture body wash to try and they really are the best soap on the market for cheap. Sure you can buy more expensive soaps but I really see no need unless I want to treat myself. Dove comes out to around $1 per bar where I live and I can just spend $10 for a 10 pack of white bars 4oz and be good for a while. But watching your channel I have started trying other bar soaps as well. It’s good to see a simple wholesome channel just a dude who loves bar soap and promotes self care and enjoying your shower time. You’re funny and honest about the bad soaps too 😂
I literally just showered with a bar of Irish Spring. Can absolutely confirm it dries you out, and unfortunately for me I happened to have forgotten about that as I hadn't used this soap in YEARS. I also happen to have 5 extra bars of it (cheap six pack) that I'll probably donate or just use to de-stink my shoes.
Irish spring is just straightforward it literally knocks all the must and dirt off your skin it's especially good if you shower every other day it's really harsh on the skin but I love that non-greasy feeling in my hands and skin especially during the summertime when it's really hot and you sweat for no reason this is perfect I used to use it everyday for over 20 years as I got older I realized how much dryness it was causing so maybe I'll put a dove in there once or twice a week
This is one of the go-to soaps my mom would buy for me and my dad, back in the early 90s. I guess she thought it was a masculine scent, back when there wasn't men's soaps or body wash. I remember it making my skin itchy, and I never bought it after moving out on my own. I have been curious about their newer men's line, might see if I can find a cheap 3 pack of it to try.
I thought the drying and flaking was just happening to me, and that nasty sticky feeling after taking a hot shower. I'm trying this one called Shugar Soapworks Oatmeal and Coconut Soap, and also Neutrogena transparent facial bar because Zest makes my face dry.
Went to jail for a bit when I was a young man. The only soap you could purchase at the commisary was, you guessed it, Irish Spring. That smell will forever remind me of the dorm we were housed in, because literally everyone who wasnt indigent used it, and it was very powerful.
The reason why it leaves your skin dry, is that it's very high in alkaline. If you buy a PH balanced soap - that has the same PH value as your skin and hair-which is 5-6, you wouldn't have dry skin. I'm a man, and have always used PH balanced products. Head and Shoulders shampoo is PH balanced- good shampoo. ( PH is stated on the label ) PH scales run from 1 to 10- ( 0 to 4 is acidity value) and ( 7-10 is high alkaline value) You need something in the "middle"-- 5-6. Redken products are good-I use them Irish Spring is supposed to be good to deter rats, and squirrels from your garden, or under your car hood. I'm going to try it for that, as it has a very strong scent.

It certainly feels like the cleanest soap I've used. The feeling on my skin often feels like residue left from conditioners in my typical soap... Irish Spring really cleans well but makes my hands feel little dry for maybe an hour then it feels fine.
The key is to wash well with it and then let the scent begin to fade. Once it begins fading, it is no longer overpowering and it actually smells tremendous and very uplifting. Great for overcoming the scent of an athlete or hardworking individual whose private parts need a seriously powerful scent. Good stuff…
It's nice. I am already kind of oily person so I am not left dry but just the right balance. But the few tiny dry areas I have are dry but it's a good thing because the skin is sloughing off. It leaves me clean. If you want to talk about demon soaps look at Zest from 1980. That left me itchy like rolling on fresh green cut grass. EWWW

I have dry skin and it breaks out in eczema easily. I wish I could use this soap! I love the smell of ivory and coast, too. Dove is the only one that works for me and I hate the smell. Same with Lever 2000. The best soap I've ever used was pink Camay but they don't sell it anywhere in Canada anymore. Trying Jergens Mild tomorrow but I imagine it'll be about the same.

I have unresolved memories there and dream about her and her house very very often so it made me really emotional when the smell of the soap instantly put me back in her bathroom tub as a kid or hugging her goodbye the last time I saw her as she lives very far away and is in a nursing home now. She sold the house right out of the 70's that I loved and this put me right back there. I never knew she used this. It sounds cheesy but Irish Spring is my grandfather and now I realize Jergens is my granma. It's mild now in northern Ontario Canada but I know in the -35°c winter it'll dry me out. But I love the comfort it gives me. I knew smells and psychology were linked but this actually blew me away.

My Dad put this Irish Spring soap on his trot lines he put out in Arkansas near Alpine. They camped there all the time and he caught more Catfish with this soap cut in Rectangles! He was an amazing fisherman!

I'm a female and I'd never use it on my skin. But I keep a bar under my pillow to help me sleep, it smells so nice, I miss those old fashioned scents.

Great soap...the other soaps clean smell fades away 3 minutes after. Just use a moisturizer if it dries your skin out. I think it just smells like clean clothes, not like it smells like oily fries or something, lighten up.
I'm in the UK where Irish Spring isn't available on the market, however, we can get it online and I LOVE the scent of this stuff. Funnily enough, it isn't sold in Ireland either.

Haha, I haven't, will have a look on RUclips for them. It is really odd that Ireland don't have it considering the name. The UK and Ireland have pretty much the same products on the market, and whilst we have plenty of brands that the US has (eg. Dove, Olay, etc) but definitely no Irish Spring (we don't have Ivory either, the closest we have to that is Imperial Leather or one called Simple).
I love your channel found you a while back and subscribed and I recently stocked up on dove white bars and bought a bottle of dove deep moisture body wash to try and they really are the best soap on the market for cheap. Sure you can buy more expensive soaps but I really see no need unless I want to treat myself. Dove comes out to around $1 per bar where I live and I can just spend $10 for a 10 pack of white bars 4oz and be good for a while. But watching your channel I have started trying other bar soaps as well. It’s good to see a simple wholesome channel just a dude who loves bar soap and promotes self care and enjoying your shower time. You’re funny and honest about the bad soaps too 😂

I literally just showered with a bar of Irish Spring. Can absolutely confirm it dries you out, and unfortunately for me I happened to have forgotten about that as I hadn't used this soap in YEARS. I also happen to have 5 extra bars of it (cheap six pack) that I'll probably donate or just use to de-stink my shoes.

I think it smells great, as far as moisturizer you should be using a lotion right after your shower anyway.
I hate to feel slick after a shower, I had to use my wife's shower gel once and it was as if I couldn't get it off me, Irish Spring worked for me.
Irish spring is just straightforward it literally knocks all the must and dirt off your skin it's especially good if you shower every other day it's really harsh on the skin but I love that non-greasy feeling in my hands and skin especially during the summertime when it's really hot and you sweat for no reason this is perfect I used to use it everyday for over 20 years as I got older I realized how much dryness it was causing so maybe I'll put a dove in there once or twice a week
With my skin I found that this moisturizes my skin better than the olay bar soaps. It really surprised me
My ex's hated irish spring and stereotyped it. I love it. Love the smell, it makes me feel the cleanest and smell the best.
This is one of the go-to soaps my mom would buy for me and my dad, back in the early 90s. I guess she thought it was a masculine scent, back when there wasn't men's soaps or body wash. I remember it making my skin itchy, and I never bought it after moving out on my own. I have been curious about their newer men's line, might see if I can find a cheap 3 pack of it to try.
I thought the drying and flaking was just happening to me, and that nasty sticky feeling after taking a hot shower. I'm trying this one called Shugar Soapworks Oatmeal and Coconut Soap, and also Neutrogena transparent facial bar because Zest makes my face dry.
I used to like Irish Spring, now the new formula has a bunch of patchouli in it and it smells rank! Great review, you are so right about this product!
I found a bar of soap at my beach condo, and I took it because it smelled so good. I think it might be Irish Spring! (I do collect bar soaps)

Went to jail for a bit when I was a young man. The only soap you could purchase at the commisary was, you guessed it, Irish Spring. That smell will forever remind me of the dorm we were housed in, because literally everyone who wasnt indigent used it, and it was very powerful.
The reason why it leaves your skin dry, is that it's very high in alkaline. If
you buy a PH balanced soap - that has the same PH value as your skin
and hair-which is 5-6, you wouldn't have dry skin. I'm a man, and have
always used PH balanced products. Head and Shoulders shampoo is
PH balanced- good shampoo. ( PH is stated on the label ) PH scales run
from 1 to 10- ( 0 to 4 is acidity value) and ( 7-10 is high alkaline value) You
need something in the "middle"-- 5-6. Redken products are good-I use them
Irish Spring is supposed to be good to deter rats, and squirrels from your
garden, or under your car hood. I'm going to try it for that, as it has a very
strong scent.

i like irish spring..one of the few soaps that still smells manly not wussy.
It certainly feels like the cleanest soap I've used. The feeling on my skin often feels like residue left from conditioners in my typical soap... Irish Spring really cleans well but makes my hands feel little dry for maybe an hour then it feels fine.

There’s more soap inside the soap!
The key is to wash well with it and then let the scent begin to fade. Once it begins fading, it is no longer overpowering and it actually smells tremendous and very uplifting. Great for overcoming the scent of an athlete or hardworking individual whose private parts need a seriously powerful scent. Good stuff…

It's nice. I am already kind of oily person so I am not left dry but just the right balance. But the few tiny dry areas I have are dry but it's a good thing because the skin is sloughing off. It leaves me clean. If you want to talk about demon soaps look at Zest from 1980. That left me itchy like rolling on fresh green cut grass. EWWW

Water has a huge effect depending on if you have soft or hard water ... I have hard water so my lather generally ducks .

I have dry skin and it breaks out in eczema easily. I wish I could use this soap! I love the smell of ivory and coast, too. Dove is the only one that works for me and I hate the smell. Same with Lever 2000. The best soap I've ever used was pink Camay but they don't sell it anywhere in Canada anymore. Trying Jergens Mild tomorrow but I imagine it'll be about the same.

I have unresolved memories there and dream about her and her house very very often so it made me really emotional when the smell of the soap instantly put me back in her bathroom tub as a kid or hugging her goodbye the last time I saw her as she lives very far away and is in a nursing home now. She sold the house right out of the 70's that I loved and this put me right back there. I never knew she used this. It sounds cheesy but Irish Spring is my grandfather and now I realize Jergens is my granma. It's mild now in northern Ontario Canada but I know in the -35°c winter it'll dry me out. But I love the comfort it gives me. I knew smells and psychology were linked but this actually blew me away.

My Dad put this Irish Spring soap on his trot lines he put out in Arkansas near Alpine. They camped there all the time and he caught more Catfish with this soap cut in Rectangles! He was an amazing fisherman!
